Robin Williams – Alcohol and Marijuana – Live Stand Up Comedy

Now That Weed Is Legal in Canada, We Asked College Students if It’s Still Cool

Forty years after singer Peter Tosh’s immortal call to action, Canada’s about two weeks deep into the promised land of legal weed, and aside from a few hiccups-rogue dispensaries courting police raids, national cannabis shortages, and mass mail delivery delays-it’s been everything we’ve dreamed of. Like obviously it wasn’t legal but Vancouver has a weed culture already. I feel like the reason that nobody really cares that much is that people didn’t really care that much in the first place here because it was so lenient with the rules that it’s not like nobody was really afraid to smoke weed in the first place. My mom was telling me-she works at Safeway-she said that all of a sudden in her break room, everyone’s talking about weed when that would never be a topic of conversation before legalization. I wasn’t even smoking weed entirely before, but I had smoked weed openly in a park before it was legal.

So that’s the only thing that’s lame about it I would say, but weed itself isn’t lame. At the same time, it is funny that every time I had smoked weed before legalization, it was something I wasn’t supposed to be doing and now it’s like it’s lost some of its charm. So high schoolers smoking weed, they’re going to be in the same camp as their moms and dads. I’m glad for high schoolers smoking weed, they still get to experience that novelty, whereas for me I’m old [laughs]. I think stoner culture is completely a product of the effects of marijuana, it’s very legitimate that you smoke weed and you get the munchies, and you want to watch unintelligent comedy that’s easy to enjoy, I guess.

More people smoke it, more people enjoy the humor and basically start eating half-baked Ben & Jerry’s and watching old Cheech & Chong movies. They’ll never get that feeling that I got when I was smoking weed for the first time.

Doctors warn parents about marijuana mixed in with Halloween candy

SAN DIEGO: With recreational marijuana now legal in California, doctors are warning parents to be extra vigilant when checking their kids’ candy on Halloween. They worry that the kids may confuse edibles for candy. State law allows edibles but has strict guidelines for how much THC can be in them. A package can’t contain more than 100 milligrams, and each piece can’t have more than 10. Marijuana vendors say new rules also make it harder for the edibles to be confused for candy.

Packaging for marijuana-infused food must also be child resistant and clearly labeled. Dr. Elia recommends keeping edibles locked away, similar to the way people treat medicine they don’t want kids to get. He says the side effects of THC on children could be devastating. Elia also says parents should be extra vigilant when checking their kids’ trick-or-treat candy, to make sure an edible didn’t wind up in their collection.

Funny Marijuana Nicknames, According to the DEA – Rolling Stone

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions hasn’t exactly taken a progressive stance on marijuana since taking office. Not only did the former senator from Alabama rescind an Obama-era policy aimed at curbing sentences for non-violent drug offenses, his understanding of marijuana is trapped squarely in the 1950s. The federal government feels similarly, as marijuana is still categorized as a Schedule I narcotic alongside heroin, LSD and peyote. The most robust compendium of street code belongs to marijuana.

Some are non-English or refer to specific marijuana strains rather than general code. If one should overhear a few teens conspiring to purchase some lime pillows, they will know that they are talking about drugs, not home decor, and the authorities can be alerted. Rolling Stone reached out to the DEA with some questions about the report, but the agency has yet to respond.

Tesla shares reel as executives quit and CEO smokes pot on webcast

Reuters) – Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk was filmed smoking marijuana and wielding a sword on a webcast, just hours before the automaker said its recently-appointed accounting chief would leave, the latest in a string of unusual behaviour and executive departures that have stunned investors. Shares of the electric carmaker tumbled more than 6 percent on Friday to $263.24, with investors on edge after a tumultuous August during which Musk proposed and then abruptly pulled the plug on a go-private deal. Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton resigned after just one month in the job because of discomfort with the attention on the company and pace of work during that time, Tesla said in a filing on Friday. Later on Friday, Tesla named a new president of automotive operations, promoting eight-year Tesla employee and former Daimler truck exec Jerome Guillen into the role overseeing all automotive operations and reporting to Musk. That move, described in a company blog with several other promotions as a result of board and management discussions, gives Musk a seasoned auto industry veteran to lean on at a time when some investors have called for a new chief operating officer. Shares barely moved after hours, when the promotions were announced.

Morton and Toledano, whose departures come shortly after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission opened an inquiry into Musk’s aborted privatisation plan, join dozens of senior executives who have left Tesla. Late on Thursday, Musk was filmed drinking whiskey, briefly smoking marijuana and wielding a Samurai sword during a 2-1/2-hour live Web show with comedian Joe Rogan that swiftly spread across social media. Analysts on Friday reiterated their call for Tesla to bring in another senior leader. SOBERING EFFECT ON INVESTORS.Tesla’s $1.8 billion junk bond maturing in August 2025 plunged as much as 4 cents on the dollar to below 82 cents, a record low, in Friday trading, pushing the yield above 8.8 percent.

Coupled with an upfront cost of 21 percent of insured value, it now costs an investor around $280,000 to insure $1 million of Tesla debt for a year. With Tesla’s stock falling to its lowest level since April, short sellers added 810,000 shares to their positions, bringing the total as of Thursday to about 32.6 million shares, according to S3 Partners, a financial technology and analytics firm. Tesla has told investors it expects to turn a profit in the second half of this year, a forecast the company’s head of investor relations, Martin Viecha, reiterated at a conference earlier this week sponsored by RBC Capital Markets, RBC analyst Joseph Spak wrote in a note on Thursday.

7 Comedians Who Enjoy Marijuana

Although weed can definitely highlight what’s weird about your surrounding or amplify already-comedic situations, it can’t instill a fully-developed sense of humor. Doug Benson’s comedy career revolves almost entirely around his love of cannabis. Benson created the 2008 documentary Super High Me, a druggy take on Morgan Spurlock’s McDonald’s exposé Super Size Me, in which Benson smokes weed in huge quantities every day for a month. Like a trippy version of Mike Nichols and Elaine May, collaborators Kate Berlant and John Early showcase a weird brand of character-based comedy in seemingly improvised skits like Family Dinner and Reunion. Berlant and Early’s deadpan comedy is deeply rooted in the same pseudo-intellectual and fame-obsessed millennial culture that it satirizes, making for an especially meta comedy experience.

Each of the two wrote and starred in full episodes of the 2016 Netflix original comedy The Characters – Early’s episode totally nails some cringe-worthy identities like a self-absorbed yuppie party host and a sassy but depressed Christian comedienne. Dave Chappelle staked a claim to stoner fandom early on in his career, having written, produced, and starred in the 1998 cannabis classic Half Baked. Chappelle briefly bowed out of the spotlight after Chappelle’s Show was canceled in 2006 and now lives a low-key life with his family in suburban Ohio. A recent GQ interview with Chappelle yields some other great nuggets: he may have bought weed from Idris Elba back in the day, and once requested permission to smoke weed onstage from crack-smoking Toronto mayor Rob Ford. Jason Segel doesn’t just play a cannabis enthusiast on TV.

He’s well known for his love of weed, and has made a name for himself as a leading man in comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Jeff, Who Lives At Home, blending bumbling antics with undeniable sincerity. George Carlin is one of the first and arguably best full-fledged observational comedians. Carlin’s countercultural humor was at least partially fueled by cannabis: in a retrospective interview with Jon Stewart, he claimed to.

Rick and Morty’s Cannabis Subculture Warps Into Los Angeles

Trip out and chill in the Meatwad 4D Dome, or dive into a virtual-reality experience inspired by Dream Corp LLC, the Adult Swim show set in a sketchy dream-therapy facility. At 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 7th, Rick and Morty get a live showcase as composer Ryan Elder leads a 37-piece orchestra through musical highlights from the show in a Musical Ricksperience. As we prepare to run around at the Adult Swim Festival, we asked ourselves: why is there such a solid Rick and Morty. Just as cannabis helps connect us to the present moment, and enjoy things as they unfold, Rick and Morty deems friends, family, and doing what we love much more important than unanswerable questions about why we’re here in the first place.

Take the McDonald’s Szechuan sauce debacle, for instance. Twitter had a meltdown, and everyone had a good time making fun of Rick and Morty. Fan art is one of the most wonderful interpretative things in the world, and the weed-loving creatives who watch Rick and Morty have left no artistic pickle unjarred. To the fan art pot-culture pantheon with his collection of joints in the shape of Rick, Morty, and iconic characters Mr. Meeseeks and Mr.

Poopybutthole. To pairing a different strain of cannabis with each episode of the show. If you think your love of a TV show makes you better or smarter than other people, you should smoke a joint, and think about how you’re missing the point. Tickets to the Adult Swim Festival Oct. 5-7 are available here. The festival does not permit medical or recreational cannabis onsite.

Stand up comedy- marijuana

Marijuana-based businesses continue development – Las Vegas Review-Journal

Marijuana-based businesses in Southern Nevada are continuing to expand in the region as the gates to recreational sales opened less than a year ago. Another facility being built in Las Vegas is by Canadian-based Marapharm Ventures Inc. The company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Marapharm Las Vegas LLC, is constructing on a 7-acre site in Apex Industrial Park that will contain a roughly more than 300,000-square-foot project for the cultivation and production of recreational marijuana. Klassen said the company sees Las Vegas as a massive market, comparing his native Canada’s population of about 36 million spread across hundreds of miles versus the more than 40 million tourists who come to the Strip. Riana Durrett, executive director of the Nevada Dispensary Association, said the survey was based on property improvements since the medical marijuana program began in Nevada.

Findley estimates there could be as much as 1 million to 2 million square feet of space under development in the Southern Nevada region for facilities being used for the medical and recreational marijuana demand in the region. Most of the local operators were anticipating that recreational marijuana would become legal in the state according to Jack, which it did in the 2016 election cycle. Jack is projecting a higher growth rate for development in the local area compared with other markets that have had recreational in place for some time. Marijuana Business Daily reports that compounded annual sales growth is expected to increase by 14 percent to 25 percent over the next five years on a nationwide basis. Projections from Marijuana Business Daily show 2018’s national recreational and medical marijuana sales to range from $6.7 billion to $8.8 billion.

In early January, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that he was rescinding guidance set during the Obama years that kept a policy of not interfering with state marijuana laws. Sessions has been an opponent of marijuana operations. In March, Congress gave protections to medical marijuana, extending provisions that doesn’t allow Sessions to use funding to go after states with legalized medical marijuana in a $1.3 trillion spending bill that funds the government through September.

Monday in Marijuana

We’re still monitoring the fallout of last week’s momentous decision that signaled the end of the federal prohibition on medical marijuana, a stipulation buried deep in the 1,603 page bipartisan federal spending package, and it seems as if the news has barely stirred a ripple in the pond for the reefer madness set. The families of those suffering from ailments that could be relieved by marijuana are wondering exactly what the hold up is. Colorado continues to be the epicenter for the legalization movement. Instead of government money being spent to investigate the negative effects of marijuana, an $8M research grant was awarded by the Colorado Board of Health to look at whether the plant can truly help with epilepsy, brain tumors, Parkinson’s disease and post-traumatic stress disorder. With a locally-based economy booming, teen use of cannabis dropping, and crime rates falling, and governments reaping a windfall of tax profits throughout Colorado, neighboring states have finally decided that enough was enough.

Two teenagers from Gaylesville, Alabama were arrested last week on felony possession of marijuana as they worked off a cruel case of the munchies in a Waffle House. File under parliamentary governmental systems: the editor of a popular marijuana news website in Israel is running for Knesset with a predictable agenda. In Canada, the Conservative government lost its latest appeal aimed at preventing medical marijuana users from growing their own, because you know, what the hell and how dare they and everything. The court passed down an unanimous decision, which prevented medical users from buying their drugs off the streets from young kids who hang out in Waffle Houses, or Tim Hortons, as the case may be. The epileptics of Brazil are slowly succeeding in making their own case that some future politicians will sue over, seeking the legalization of medical pot.

Brian Borncamp contributed this thoughtful article to us last week, which imagines a future economy on Buffalo’s East Side featuring good pal cannabis. By all intents and purposes, the marijuana biz is a slow train coming, laden with long-term and localized economic benefits that far outweigh the negative effects, and Borncamp’s piece is a slice of that future.

Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum May Use Weed-Laced Smell-O-Vision

Singular filmmaker Harmony Korine has some high hopes for his latest feature, though fans of the indie auteur hoping to enjoy the full scope of his vision might have to travel a little further afield to enjoy it as it was meant to be seen. As of now, the film has yet to go into production, so perhaps Korine is already jawing about ideas that he’s built into the film’s script. We’re just going to have to wait and sniff it out later. When McConaughey first joined the project in February, it was expected to start shooting in July, though after Neon and Vice pre-bought the U.S. rights to the film at Cannes, reports held that cameras were not going to roll until this fall.

How ‘Rick and Morty’ Season 3 Became the #1 Comedy on TV

Rick and Morty was the top-rated TV comedy in 2017, beating out Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory and Saturday Night Live. Christina Miller, president of Adult Swim, believes something special is happening between Rick and Morty and its dedicated millennial audience. Of course, if Rick and Morty is this generation’s definitive sitcom, that means millions of young people love how depraved and nihilistic it is. Pickle Rick, a version of Rick teased for weeks by Adult Swim before his episode aired in 2017.See all of the best photos of the week. Rick is a high-functioning alcoholic mad scientist, driven to explore a multiverse he deeply hates because he believes the meaning of life is the pursuit of science.

As the show gets more complicated, we learn that Rick and Morty’s bond is so strong that it carries over into every possible alternate reality. A Rick, no matter the dimension, is never without his Morty. Morty argues with Rick during a Season 3 episode satirizing Marvel’s Avengers. Miller says Adult Swim has never had a hit so monstrous as Rick and Morty. Adult Swim released a companion mobile game, Pocket Mortys, in 2016, while most fans were waiting for a Season 3 release date.

As part of Adult Swim’s goal to reach fans in person, a Rickmobile vehicle and pop-up shop toured in advance of Season 3, visiting 40 cities and selling out Rick and Morty merchandise to fans who often lined up overnight. Jessica Gao, another Rick and Morty writer, says the show is successful because it’s surprisingly intelligent.

10 Best Stoner Movies for Any Mood

The best stoner movies aren’t always what you think. Of course, there are classic stoner movies you’d expect, like The Big Lebowski, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and How High. Something to keep in mind: Most of these movies are available for streaming on Amazon. If you’re still not feeling anything on this list, be sure to give these non-traditional stoner movies a look, too. Without further ado, here are the absolute best movies to watch while stoned.

Without a doubt, this is hands-down, the best stoner movie out there. You can’t miss the OG Cheech and Chong stoner movie. It’s time to jump into awesome off-the-wall movies to watch when stoned. While not technically a stoner movie because it’s not 420 based, it’s easily one of the best movies to watch high. I’ve yet to find another stoner movie that incites such belly laughter every time I watch it.

It’s one of the only movies that kills it every time it’s remade. If you’re in the mood for a movie that’ll make you cackle with laughter, and pull at your heart strings all at once, then you need to watch Ted, one of the weirdest, best movies for stoners on the planet.

Netflix has opted not to renew pot-themed comedy series Disjointed starring Kathy Bates for a second season. The multi-camera workplace sitcom hailed from comedy heavyweight Chuck Lorre, former Daily Show head writer David Javerbaum and Warner Bros. TV. The studio is expected to explore shopping the series elsewhere. In Disjointed, Bates plays a lifelong advocate for legalization who’s finally living her dream as the owner of an L.A.-area cannabis dispensary.

The project, penned on spec by Lorre and Javerbaum, landed at Netflix in 2016 with a 20-episode straight-to-series order. The decision not to order another season comes on the heels of the January release of the second batch of 10 episodes from Season 1. As far as I can tell, this is only the second comedy series by Lorre to only last one season, joining his first as creator, the short-lived 1992 comedy Frannie’s Turn at CBS. At Netflix, he has another comedy series coming up, the single-camera The Kominsky Method starring Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin.

Watch Franchesca Ramsey Give The Straight Dope On Weed And Racism

Blavity hero Franchesca Ramsey, who as you may have read, may very well be bringing just the show we need to Comedy Central soon, is, as of now, the host of MTV’s Decoded. Today, in honor of national day of getting high, 420, Ramsey took some time to decode marijuana and racism. Ramsey dropped some facts that you probably already know, like that blacks and whites smoke the same amount of weed here in the U.S., but that black people are four times more likely to arrested for partaking. She also brought out some interesting history, telling viewers how the founding father of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, Harry Anslinger, used marijuana to advance a racist agenda in the 1930s. Ramsey says that nowadays, only one out of every 10 Americans believes that weed possession ought to result in jail time, and that states that have legalized weed have seen reductions in black marijunana arrests of up to 98 percent.

That’s really something to celebrate this 420..

Podcast: How Gringo director Nash Edgerton made a cannabis comedy, never touched the stuff

While Gringo, a new slapstick comedy out this week via Amazon Studios, rides the well-trod trope of a mega corporation up to no good, there’s a modern and timely twist: they’re manufacturing cannabis pills, called Cannabax, down in Mexico. Gringo is chock-full of Grade-A goofiness – weird diatribes about space exploration, kidnappings gone awry, dirty Mexican slang, awkward office sex – but at its heart is some genuine commentary on the ethics of the exploding cannabis industry, and Big Business’ growing role in it. The film, which stars David Oyelowo and Charlize Theron, was directed by Australian stunt-double-turned-director Nash Edgerton. We caught up with Edgerton to learn more about how he came to direct the film, what he thinks about cannabis legalization, his own history with cannabis and more. For the juicy details, tune in to our conversation with Edgerton, in this week’s episode of the Hash podcast, below.

Netflix Orders Chuck Lorre and Kathy Bates Pot Comedy

If there’s one constant in this crazy, meaningless world, it’s Netflix throwing money at new projects like they can’t give the dough away fast enough. On Wednesday, the streaming giant ordered to series Disjointed, a new comedy from The Big Bang Theory’s Chuck Lorre set at an L.A.-based pot dispensary. Oscar and Emmy winner Kathy Bates will star as the dispensary’s proprietor. The series, which was originally shopped around to the networks before landing at Netflix, is a multi-camera comedy co-written by Lorre and David Javerbaum. In addition to Bates’ pot-shop owner, the workplace comedy will feature the shop’s three budtenders, Bates’ character’s 20-something-year-old son and the shop’s security guard.

Disjointed is Netflix’s third multi-cam series, the first two being the Ashton Kutcher-led series The Ranch and the wildly successful Fuller House.

Funny marijuana smokers comedy show Ep27Pt1

Marijuana Movies: The Top 10 Stoner Films

There are a good variety of stoner movies out there that show us characters who love to do nothing but smoke weed all day. You don’t have to remember what happened in a good stoner movie because we’ve found the best ones and compiled them here. He ends up hitchhiking and meets a fellow stoner Pedro De Pacas played by Cheech Marin. The two smoke weed, get arrested for doing so, then get released on a technicality. Seth Rogen plays Dale who likes to smoke weed from time to time.

There is nothing like watching a bunch of funny celebrities have fun playing themselves. Three friends – Thursgood Jenkins, Scarface, and Brian – try to bail out their good friend, Kenny, who is in jail for accidentally killing a diabetic police horse by feeding it junk food. Harold played by John Cho leaves his office job for the weekend and hangs out with his stoner friend, Kumar played by Kal Penn. The most memorable scene has to be Kumar who has a dream about marrying a bag of weed. After finding out that their image is being used in an upcoming movie and they try to stop itor at least get paid off of it!

The two get into some crazy situations after they befriend an animal liberation group and more. Smokey played by Chris Tucker and Craig played by Ice Cube are pretty much living the life when they find a dealer’s weed stash. It’s not all bad. Some of the students, including incoming freshman Mitch Kramer, go cruising, drink beer, and smoke weed together.

Upscale cannabis convention aims to take state industry to the next level

Your budtender might well be among the first to enjoy the refurbished Tacoma Dome. After weeks of removing and replacing seats and doing other upgrades totaling $30 million, the Dome is heading into fall with expos and trade shows as it eases into the return of headlining concerts. The Cannabis and Comedy Convention, presented by marijuana data website Lemonhaze, is set for Oct. 25-26, a week after the Tacoma Holiday Food and Gift Festival. The goal of October’s gathering is to provide a broader networking opportunity for those attending and participating. Some of the panel topics at the convention will include creating your brand, confessions of a budtender, investing, banking, women’s leadership in the cannabis industry and vaping technology.

Some of the continuing education workshops include pain and cannabis, distinguishing folklore from science, budtending 101 and a forum on terpenes, the oils that give pot its aroma. As for the comedy part of the convention, organizers have announced comic Doug Benson as a headliner. This will be the third cannabis event presented at the Dome. A business expo was held in 2016 and CannaCon came to the venue in 2014. Admission is free to those working in the state industry and cannabis workers’ guests get in for $20.

Tickets go on sale July 24. More information is available at lemonhaze.com.

How TV Fell in Love With Marijuana

Americans kept doing drugs-in ever-increasing numbers-but sitcoms mostly stopped airing preachy episodes. Though marijuana use was still demonized on television as late as 1997, the drug was also treated with a new frankness in sitcoms like Roseanne, Home Improvement, and That ’70s Show. Henson expanded on her comments earlier this year in an interview with The Atlantic. If TV is a propagandistic device for pro-legalization advocates, it’s an enormously effective one. Age is a factor: A 2010 ABC study found that 81 percent of Americans support the legalization of medicinal marijuana, while the number drops to 23 percent for Americans aged 65 and older.

Marijuana is more than fodder for sitcoms and cartoons. Perhaps the final sign of marijuana’s television growth comes with its appearance in the most ubiquitous of genres: reality television. In the past year, both The Discovery Channel and National Geographic have launched reality series based on the budding medicinal marijuana market. Weed Wars and American Weed offer something that no other series in TV history has offered: a glimpse into cannabis growth as a legal, legitimate business. As American cultural attitudes continue to shape-and be shaped by-depictions of marijuana, it’s hard to imagine that TV will ever go back.

Interview: Iliza Shlesinger talks Canada, cannabis and comedy

Her fourth and latest Netflix special ‘Elder Millennial’ was released this week, and her second movie ‘Instant Family’ with Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne premieres in early 2019. Last year she published her first book, ‘Girl Logic,’ and hosted a limited-run talk show on Freeform called ‘Truth & Iliza. See alsoHaving distinguished herself as the winner of NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standing’ in 2008, Iliza’s success comes well-earned with three previous specials under her belt. Iliza is performing a single show at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal this upcoming Friday – and those who have already watched her latest Netflix special can be assured that the live show is full of new material. Despite the quick stop this trip, Iliza has travelled to more places in Canada than most Canadians.

Men are super manly, the women are beautiful, it’s super clean, there’s a lot of room and they’re very kind,’ so of course as Americans we make fun of something that secretly we wish we had more of. Iliza lives in California where cannabis has been legal at a state level for some time, so she’s unfazed by Canada’s cannabis legalization plans. When asked for advice on what Canadians should keep in mind come October 17, she simply suggests that they stay considerate of others. I grew up when it wasn’t legal so it feels like oddly taboo. She may be a weird stoned person, but she’s a very funny comic. ‘Elder Millennial’ is a slightly more mature departure from Iliza’s previous work, but she hasn’t lost her edge – she’s just proving that she’s can capably mould her talents however she sees fit.

Iliza will also be performing at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver on October 13.

Why Marijuana Makes Things Funnier, Medically Speaking

About half of the U.S. population has personally experienced the effects of marijuana on the body’s delicate equilibrium. Maybe go to the gun range and just laugh and laugh, together! Marijuana obviously does change the way you think, but we don’t completely understand how. As a bonus, the same paper found that in most studies there were no actual structural differences between the brains of marijuana users and nonusers.

Still, the better part of the answer is probably that marijuana elevates your entire mood and, thereby, inclines you to laugh more. Our generation is totally accustomed to this sort of instant gratification/very little work paradigm, so we’re like putty in the hands of marijuana salespeople. So you’re in a great mood, your brain has you feeling like you’re in love and on top of the world, and you didn’t even have to try hard to feel that way – of course you’re going to be inclined to laugh and be generally merry. Marijuana causes this reflexive laughter, like how you laugh when someone is tickling you, even if nothing is being perceived as funny. In closing, this seems like a pretty simple explanation for why you’d be inclined to laugh more and find things funnier when you’re high.

Plus, there may be other strange sensory issues at play, like whatever is behind the fact that people on marijuana will reliably report that colors are brighter and music is more vivid. Also there is at least a correlation between marijuana use and mental illness, including earlier onset of schizophrenia. If you’re using marijuana and noticing problems with your mood, relationships, health, job, etc.

Kevin Smith needs fans’ help for new weed comedy Hollyweed

New Jersey native, filmmaker, Kevin Smith signs autographs for fans at his comic book store Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash. Highlands native filmmaker Kevin Smith wants to get a new series made, and he needs your help. Fans and potential backers can view the series’ previously unreleased 2016 pilot episode at rivitTV, and then decide if they’d like to pledge their support for a six-episode season at a cost of $1.99 to $5.99 per episode. WEED, GRASS, REEFER: Check out the 350+ names the DEA has for marijuana. California became the latest state to sell legal weed for recreational purposes in January, joining states like Colorado, Nevada, Washington and Oregon that adopted marijuana legalization in the past few years.

HIGH HOPES: Legal weed changed everything in Colorado & California. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has made marijuana legalization a priority and lawmakers expect to sign a legal weed bill this year, though progress largely stalled during the budget process. Over the last 10 years, Smith has become an outspoken marijuana user and marijuana legalization advocate. Last month, he credited weed with saving his life during his February heart attack, as the drug kept him calm.

In addition to his work as a filmmaker, podcaster and author, Smith is also the proprietor of Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash comic book shop in Red Bank.(Watch a video of Smith’s most recent Red Bank appearance in the player at the top of this story.

Jason Sklar on High Culture in Comedy, John Elway’s Horse Teeth, His Newest Comedy Project

Unless you’re a knowledgable comedy fan or watched a lot of Cheap Seats on ESPN Classic during the early 2000s, you may not recognize the Sklar brothers by name. The six-hour special includes more than forty minutes in Denver and Boulder, where the Sklars visited local landmarks like Casa Bonita, Comedy Works and Ballpark Holistic Dispensary. To find out more about how the brothers enjoyed the Mile High City’s skunky characteristics and how its comedy scene stacks up nationally with other cities, Westword sat down with Jason Sklar to talk about the brothers’ time in Denver. Jason Sklar: First of all, there’s a great comedy scene there. I want every other comedy club owner in the country to come to Denver for a couple weeks and watch how they run those clubs, who they book and how they set up the club.

It’s why so many comedians record their albums in Denver. I think high culture certainly lends itself to comedy. I don’t know that I can really tell the whole audience is high, but I do think that culture is another positive in the corner of comedy when you think about Denver. Our shows all sell out in Denver now, and that’s just a great feeling. That’s why there’s so many great angles to dig into when you’re in Denver.

The weed laws are really interesting, and we liked trying to understand how that culture changed Denver for the better and for the worse. It’s like something people in Denver are simultaneously proud and embarrassed about, and those are comedy goldmines.

Eddie Griffin backs up Colorado legalizing Marijuana | Eddie Griffin News #9

Weed is not your typical marijuana documentary, and that is exactly why it is worth checking out. It was made by Dr. Sanjay Gupta, as a special report for CNN. The fact that CNN covered the topic of weed is in and of itself groundbreaking, and shows how attitudes have started to change regarding using weed. In the documentary, Dr.

Gupta meets with several different medical marijuana patients, exploring how weed helps them to feel better. It also looks at how difficult it is for these patients to receive the medicine they need, and how this is a result of the War on Drugs. Beyond this, Dr. Gupta also explains some of the impact that marijuana has on the brain and how usage differs between regular smokers and those who are new to smoking. This is one of the newest, most credible, and best documentaries on the medical necessity of marijuana, and one worth checking out now.

As marijuana use and legalization becomes more mainstream, we will see more and more information and misinformation arise about marijuana use. It can be hard to get a clear viewpoint on the research, the facts, and the myths. The films above are the best marijuana documentaries because take us through the process of understanding the history, the benefits, the medicine and the legality behind marijuana use, and are a great place to start to start exploring.

CACHEXIA & WASTING TREATMENT AND SYMPTOMS

Limit necessary food intake because of nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. Hormonal and metabolic problems in protein synthesis and growth. Wasting patient response to standard pharmaceutical treatments and strategies is remarkably poor. Medical Marijuana, on the other hand is rapidly gaining a reputation as being, by far the best treatment available for Cachexia. Some of the most commonly prescribed drugs are, in fact synthetically derived THC.

However, most experienced Doctors find that natural MMJ with a balanced Cannabinoid profiles work substantially better than synthetic isolates. Through personal choice, trial and error – patient’s agree with researchers and pick organic herb over synthetics, hands down. Growth Hormone and Steroids: Go to a medical doctor experienced in sports medicine. Margaret Haney, PhD, Associate Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at Columbia University found that the effects of synthetic and herbal marijuana were comparable. In a clinical setting, patient’s appetite improved, gained weight and slept better in comparison with placebo.

We provide patients with the legal paperwork so they may use, possess and grow Medical Cannabis in the State of California. You fill out a form, type in personal info and brief medical history – takes a few minutes. A doctor is on standby to evaluate your application – is completed same day.

When you light it up you sometimes need a good show to watch. The 1970’s means references to classic rock, bell bottoms and wacky tabacky. You’ll love the POV camera angle of Hyde, Fez, Kelso, Foreman, or Leo passing it on the left hand side. Plus, watching Ashton Kutcher or Wilmer Valderrama playing Kelso and Fex respectively is comedic genius. Make sure to watch every fifteen minute episode of this psychedelic-hippie-art-fest-meets-Tom-and-Jerry-type cartoonage.

Comedians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim take deadpan jokes verging on the bizarre, combine them with celebrity guest appearances and cheesy video effects and it equals one winner of a show for anybody stoned out of their gourd. It doesn’t need a description due to its popularity, but here we go. The main character, Peter Griffin, recites tasteless jokes for a half-hour and if you don’t laugh you really need to change your ‘tude, dude. Dave Chappelle made a movie called Half Baked of course, he makes the list. The three main characters of this show hail from Canada and live in a trailer park.

The show is so popular they’ve appeared on the cover of High Times as well as making a guest appearance on the GGN Network, Snoop Dogg’s internet channel/stoner show! Anyway, the show will just make you laugh you rear end off. This awesome show has been around for years and is loved by everyone.

Alcohol and Drugs: Untimely Celebrity Deaths

The tragic loss of a renowned celebrity or athlete to a drug or alcohol-related death is an event that often leaves many unanswered questions. Famous and much-loved celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Heath Ledger have been the victims of such unfortunate circumstances. While many deaths may be due to misuse of illegal substances, these drugs are not always illicit – and an overdose may not always be intentional. Death due to drugs can also be the result of mixing prescribed medications with other drugs, alcohol, over-the-counter medications or even herbal supplements. Drug-drug interactions may also play a role in drug-related deaths.

The consumption of multiple central nervous system depressants, such as opioid pain killers, sedatives, hypnotics, or alcohol may lead to an unintentional overdose due to severely depressed breathing. Mixing illicit, prescription or over-the-counter medications can be dangerous, and patients should always rule out drug interactions with their healthcare provider. The use of prescription medications with illegal drugs or alcohol can produce an unpredictable and fatal response, and many deaths due to such circumstances may have been preventable. The following table outlines the death of notable celebrities and athletes who have had drugs or alcohol implicated in their deaths.

Roseanne’s Marijuana Episode Part 2

More Parents Smoking Marijuana Around Children, Study Says « CBS Denver

NEW YORK – As regulations crack down on the dangers of cigarette smoke, a new study is warning that many parents are undoing all of this progress by exposing their children to secondhand marijuana smoke. A study says more parents are smoking marijuana around their children. Researchers point to the decriminalization of marijuana for the change. The study warns that children are being exposed to more secondhand smoke because of higher marijuana use. According to researchers from Columbia University, the number of cigarette-smoking parents who said they used marijuana increased from 11 percent in 2002 to over 17 percent in 2015.

Researchers found that tobacco cigarette use has fallen by seven percent during the decade-long survey. Some of the credit for the decline likely goes to stricter laws on cigarettes, which have reduced the places smokers can light up and cut down on nicotine within the products. The study adds that as tobacco laws increase, states have loosened the laws governing marijuana use. Dr. Karen Wilson says the ability for more parents to smoke pot legally could create a dangerous environment for children breathing in secondhand smoke.

Whether marijuana smoke is as addictive as tobacco smoke may be up for debate, but the damage from inhaling it has already been studied. A recent study by biologist Matthew Springer found that marijuana smoke is three times worse for the arterial walls than cigarette smoke.

The Inner Monologue of a Guy Smoking Weed for the First Time

Every time a group of men under the age of 25 gathers for long periods of time, you can bet your last two cents that one of them will be smoking weed. Whether it’s a road trip, a concert, or a day spent playing Halo 3, someone is eventually going to bust out the green. Most of your group is used to this, but there’s always the odd time a fresh face appears who may not be as chronic-minded as the rest of you, so you, being the good host that you are, decide to let the newbie take a hit of the bong, just so he doesn’t feel left out. The following is exactly what’s going through his mind as he smokes weed for the first time. Huh, I thought it would look more like those leaves I’ve seen on Dr.

Dre albums; this stuff just looks like little nuggets. Holy shit look at that stucco ceiling, it’s got like faces in it. I should say something, I’ve been quiet for like 20 minutes looking at this ceiling. Okay well let’s take a walk to see what this guy has in his kitchen. I’ve been leaning on this kitchen counter for like 5 minutes, the nachos are starting to mock me from the bowl.

WAIT! Why haven’t I ever seen this before, raw nachos are just chips! Note to self: tell everyone you know about the nacho fraud. I should see what everyone else is doing, maybe they want some nachos. I really think weed makes me smarter, I just talked in-depth to that guy about how Iron Man could totally beat up Batman in a fight.

So your done doing your very first harvest on your produce, you harvested all of your buds and now you are all left with a huge pile of leaves. There are a few ways you could use your cannabis leaves after your harvesting of buds is done. If you want to smoke your leaves yes you can, it can give you a slight buzz but wont get you that mind bending experience like buds can do. The problem with leaves is that you cant just get rid of them for they have little THC left in them too, they are too precious just to throw away. So thinking of alternative ways to get rid of the leaves from your harvest is to make extra money out of your leaves.

One good way to do this is to make cannabutter out of your leaves. Of course your leaves, mash your leaves into small bits as you place your butter into your pan. Let it sit beside the butter as it melts and let the THCs transfer from the leaves to the butter, just let it simmer for about thirty minutes. After you have done this you can now use a sieve in get those green bits out of your butter, or you can just leave them be. After youre done with the combining of leaves and butter, let it sit for an hour before using it.

On the other hand you can always make hash from your cured leaves and make extra bucks from pure resin. There are a dozen ways on how to use your cannabis leaves just after harvesting, just look on the right places to have guides on what to do.

Best Weed Movies of All Time

Today, stoner movies is a separate subgenre in cinematography. The image of cannabis culture differs from movie to movie-sometimes stoners are represented in a positive way, sometimes they are shown comically. Either way, many movies that revolve around people smoking weed are funny and professionally made. Reefer Madness may be the first movie to not only picture the use of marijuana but to be also completely dedicated to this topic. The movie tells us a story of innocent teenagers, marijuana dealers, crazy parties with jazz music, and, of course, reefers-weed cigarettes.

Though the movie’s depiction of the cannabis community may be highly exaggerated and shown only from a stereotypical perspective, Reefer Madness is a movie that every cannabis enthusiast should watch. It is a movie where academics and weed are combined in 90 minutes of fun. Alongside the famous comedy actors, the movie stars Snoop Dogg as a scavenger smoker. Harold & Kumar is not just a stoner movie that you can watch once and forget about. Despite the ongoing debates about the quality of the movie, the series has been a financial success.

This duo is famous for their hippie movies and stand-up routine. The duo starred in more than nine movies that were recognized as the most iconic stoner comedies including Up in Smoke, Cheech&Chong’s Next Move, Nice Dreams, Cheech&Chong’s Animated Movie, and many others.
