Robin Williams – Alcohol and Marijuana – Live Stand Up Comedy

Now That Weed Is Legal in Canada, We Asked College Students if It’s Still Cool

Forty years after singer Peter Tosh’s immortal call to action, Canada’s about two weeks deep into the promised land of legal weed, and aside from a few hiccups-rogue dispensaries courting police raids, national cannabis shortages, and mass mail delivery delays-it’s been everything we’ve dreamed of. Like obviously it wasn’t legal but Vancouver has a weed culture already. I feel like the reason that nobody really cares that much is that people didn’t really care that much in the first place here because it was so lenient with the rules that it’s not like nobody was really afraid to smoke weed in the first place. My mom was telling me-she works at Safeway-she said that all of a sudden in her break room, everyone’s talking about weed when that would never be a topic of conversation before legalization. I wasn’t even smoking weed entirely before, but I had smoked weed openly in a park before it was legal.

So that’s the only thing that’s lame about it I would say, but weed itself isn’t lame. At the same time, it is funny that every time I had smoked weed before legalization, it was something I wasn’t supposed to be doing and now it’s like it’s lost some of its charm. So high schoolers smoking weed, they’re going to be in the same camp as their moms and dads. I’m glad for high schoolers smoking weed, they still get to experience that novelty, whereas for me I’m old [laughs]. I think stoner culture is completely a product of the effects of marijuana, it’s very legitimate that you smoke weed and you get the munchies, and you want to watch unintelligent comedy that’s easy to enjoy, I guess.

More people smoke it, more people enjoy the humor and basically start eating half-baked Ben & Jerry’s and watching old Cheech & Chong movies. They’ll never get that feeling that I got when I was smoking weed for the first time.

Doctors warn parents about marijuana mixed in with Halloween candy

SAN DIEGO: With recreational marijuana now legal in California, doctors are warning parents to be extra vigilant when checking their kids’ candy on Halloween. They worry that the kids may confuse edibles for candy. State law allows edibles but has strict guidelines for how much THC can be in them. A package can’t contain more than 100 milligrams, and each piece can’t have more than 10. Marijuana vendors say new rules also make it harder for the edibles to be confused for candy.

Packaging for marijuana-infused food must also be child resistant and clearly labeled. Dr. Elia recommends keeping edibles locked away, similar to the way people treat medicine they don’t want kids to get. He says the side effects of THC on children could be devastating. Elia also says parents should be extra vigilant when checking their kids’ trick-or-treat candy, to make sure an edible didn’t wind up in their collection.

Funny Marijuana Nicknames, According to the DEA – Rolling Stone

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions hasn’t exactly taken a progressive stance on marijuana since taking office. Not only did the former senator from Alabama rescind an Obama-era policy aimed at curbing sentences for non-violent drug offenses, his understanding of marijuana is trapped squarely in the 1950s. The federal government feels similarly, as marijuana is still categorized as a Schedule I narcotic alongside heroin, LSD and peyote. The most robust compendium of street code belongs to marijuana.

Some are non-English or refer to specific marijuana strains rather than general code. If one should overhear a few teens conspiring to purchase some lime pillows, they will know that they are talking about drugs, not home decor, and the authorities can be alerted. Rolling Stone reached out to the DEA with some questions about the report, but the agency has yet to respond.

70’s Comedy Record about Marijuana

Where Are They Now?

The comedy wonder spent a lot of time as a boy riding his bicycle back and forth in his neighborhood along El Prado Boulevard near Manhattan Avenue. His dad owned a skating rink on North Armenia Avenue just north of Osborne and that’s where he spent lots of his time early on. Comedian Gallagher as he appeared in the 1964Plant High SchoolYearbook…. He graduated from Plant High School in 1964 and pursued a degree in chemical engineering at the University of South Florida. Dozens of companies turned him down for employment, including The Tampa Tribune despite a good word on his behalf from Zappone with the personnel people.

Stauffer Chemical Company finally put him to work but a series of tasteless jokes coupled with his keener interest in show business earned him a pink slip. In the 80’s, he used his own money to videotape a dozen one-hour comedy programs he sold to HBO, The Comedy Channel, and home video distributors. He now lives in Palm Beach with his wife but returns to Tampa often to share watermelon with family members who still live in the area. I never used my own money for my Showtime specials and I was never on HBO. I worked for Florida Nitrogen later Kaiser Agricultural Chemicals as their chief chemist when Jan C.

Uterwick left to run his dad’s worldwide shipping company in downtown Tampa. My guidance councellor who later worked as an executive for Tampa Electric helped mediate the situation before graduation night. I worked for the coach who I visit with each time I return to town. I worked as a chemist until I graduated not after, then I went to Los Angeles where I was hired by Allied Chemical to work as a salesmen out of Chicago. Jim Stafford let me get up late at night in clubs where he worked like the Elbow Room on Longboat Key to practice it.

State issues first marijuana license, steady flow predicted

BOSTON – State regulators voted unanimously Thursday to grant the state’s first recreational marijuana business license to a marijuana grower in Milford. The license approved by the Cannabis Control Commission on Thursday will allow Sira Naturals to grow between 10,001 and 20,000 square feet of marijuana at their indoor facility at 13 Commercial Way in Milford. Sira Naturals already grows marijuana for medical patients at its Milford cultivation facility and operates medical dispensaries in Cambridge, Somerville and Needham. The company grows more than 60 strains of marijuana and turns it into cookies, caramels and other edibles. The CCC has had the authority to issue business licenses to marijuana companies since June 1 and expects that retail sales will begin on or around July 1, even though the regulators have not yet licensed any retail shops.

CCC Chairman Steven Hoffman said Thursday that the CCC expects to consider license applications at its meetings for the foreseeable future. CCC Executive Director Shawn Collins said Sira Naturals plans to be fully operational within four months of being licensed, though he noted that the company is already growing marijuana for medical use and has the ability to transfer some of that product to the adult use market. The provisional license is conditional upon a fingerprint-based check of state and federal criminal databases, payment of the $5,000 annual license fee, a certification that the company is in compliance with the Department of Public Health’s regulations for medical marijuana, and other conditions. Sira Naturals submitted its application to the CCC before any other companies, on April 18, and the CCC received word from Milford June 8 that the company is following all local zoning ordinances and town bylaws, Collins said.

George Carlin’s Last Words

The Irish Catholic kid from Corpus Christi parish in Harlem-with barely more than a year of high school education-combined his own fierce and fearlessly questioning mind with the lessons he’d learned on the streets of New York to craft comedy that made audiences laugh and challenged them to think. I think it’s great that you had that reaction, because that’s really what we set out to do. So I think that was both an explosive and a very determining factor. I think his legacy is going to be that he’s every bit as popular and long-lasting as Mark Twain, and I think his work is just as voluminous in its medium, and if anything, stronger. It’s not at all the image you take of Fellini; you think he was this left-wing, French nouveau, kind of – but not at all.

George worked for the side that paid him the most, I think, but that was self-selecting, because the kind of message he grew into was not going to be any more comfortable in Las Vegas than it would be on The National Review’s annual cruise. Partly I think that’s just respect, but it’s partly that he just taught people so many things. George’s fans are hugely loyal I think, over and above other comedians, because he went and met them and performed for them live. I certainly don’t think anyone but Richie Pryor, or possibly Lily Tomlin – though she had a more comedic career rather than a comedy career, I do think that she blazed a trail that was very important, and she was an exact contemporary of Richard and George. I don’t think anyone comes close to Carlin in terms of serious intent, including Richard, actually.

He called them the plateau, and I think that’s correct. I don’t think he went very far up after the 90s, even in the early 90s. I mean, he thought that Jamming in New York was the best special he’d ever done.

New Marijuana Report Finds No Link Between Weed And Lung Cancer

A recent report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine found that there is no link between weed and lung cancer. Their cannabis research also unearthed 100 other conclusions, many of which will make pot smokers really happy. It’s been proven that nicotine in cigarettes has been linked to many different cancers. Cigarette smokers know what they are getting into when they take a puff. The research shows that smoking marijuana will not increase your chance of getting cancer. There is minimal evidence that smoking weed is linked to one subtype of testicular cancer though. The research also showed that the use of cannabis is extremely helpful to treat many different ailments that plague many people on a daily basis. The research showed moderate evidence that cannabis is effective in helping people with sleep disorders and fibromyalgia. Plus, if Half Baked taught us anything, smoking weed will make you feel like you are floating through the air above New York City. Even though cannabis use isn’t linked to lung cancer, that doesn’t mean users are free of respiratory diseases.

Stoner film

Stoner film is a subgenre of comedy films that revolve around the use of cannabis. Typically, such movies show cannabis use in a comic and positive fashion. Generally, cannabis use is one of the main themes, and inspires much of the plot. High Times magazine regularly sponsors the Stony Awards to celebrate stoner films and television. Many stoner movies have certain elements and themes in common. The template involves a protagonist or protagonists who have or are attempting to find marijuana and have some task to complete. Often stoner films involve evading authority figures, sometimes law enforcement agents, who are portrayed as comically inept, but also parents, co-workers, friends, and security guards who disapprove of the protagonists’ marijuana usage usually out of a greater lack of acceptance of their lifestyle of leisure and innocence. Most serious moments are intended ironically, often to parody overwrought counterparts in mainstream cinema. The comic story arcs often approach or fall over the line into slapstick. Nine to Five was the first stoner film to feature a female protagonist.

Best States For Marijuana Users

With only four states – and the District of Columbia – making recreational use legal, it can be difficult to decide where you should live if you love smoking, eating, vaping, or drinking your weed. Marijuana users-percentage of people reporting marijuana use in the previous monthMarijuana affordability-average cost of high quality and low quality marijuanaInterest in Marijuana-Cannabis-related Google searchesLegal status of marijuana-recreational, medicinal, decriminalized, illegalPublicly expressed interest in Marijuana-Facebook interest in marijuana-themed publications-High Times, Cannabis Now Magazine, 420 Magazine, Cannabis Culture, SKUNK Magazine. Considering how often people are portrayed smoking weed in New York, it’s surprising how far down the list it is. Less surprising, of course, is how enthusiastic residents of Nevada and Vermont are about the green stuff. With the exception of Utah, of course, it’s clear that the best place for serious marijuana enthusiasts to live is on the West coast. Better buy a house now before property values go even further through the roof.

Ralphie May On Marijuana, TMZ and Changing the Face of Comedy

If you haven’t seen this interview I did with the Beacon News out of Chicago, check it out. He was busted in Guam for pot possession after petting a drug dog at the airport. The Tennessee shock comic is brutally, hilariously honest about his podcast, his recreational drug use, his kids and balancing on life on the road with his family. So I got down and I walk 68 feet out of my way to pet a drug dog and while I was there I called another drug dog over. They’re both sitting in front of me and that’s their cue that they’ve found drugs. So I got busted with bringing marijuana into Guam and petting a drug dog. I know all the places where celebrities have gotten caught with drugs, like Sierra Blanca, Texas, where they pulled over Willie Nelson and pulled over Snoop that’s why when I go through there, there’s nothing on my bus at all. It’s one of the few plants that actually inserts nutrients back into the soil as opposed to leaching them out. If we just took away the shame, we could really tax the hell out of it and make a lot of money. A:. Exactly, and Richard was on good drugs.

Seth Rogen: Legalization won’t make marijuana any less funny

We haven’t found any real difference in the way people react to it on screen. I think right now probably more people are trying it than ever have because it’s becoming a little more socially accepted than it was. It’s probably less taboo than it’s ever been in some ways, but I think its popularity outweighs it’s taboo-ness. It’s honestly the thing that made us think it was a good idea in the first place. There are some jokes in this that definitely threaten to cross a line. If we are achieving that line, that is the way we are achieving it – through diligence and through showing the jokes to audiences and really seeing what people respond to and don’t respond to. If jokes don’t get laughs, then we don’t keep them in the movie. We don’t pretend that we, even after all these years, really know what people are definitively going to be OK with and not OK with. I’m honestly surprised with what more people are OK with more than anything. I wasn’t even sure people were going to get that joke, and the first time we screened it I was blown away by the reaction it got and was really surprised.

High Maintenance Trailer: Watch the Trailer for HBO’s New Comedy

In the golden age of television, web shorts, Netflix/Amazon original series, premium channels, cable stations, and major networks are all created equal. The lines are blurred and the platform doesn’t matter. Within the last few years-specifically on HBO-the comedy is thriving. Veep, Silicon Valley, Horace and Pete, Lady Dynamite, Orange Is the New Black, Archer-they’re all outpacing the drama right now. Much of this is thanks to this blurring of platform lines. Louis CK, the most important man in comedy today, released his new show as a surprise on his own website. A show can start out as a webseries on Vemeo then become a full-fleged HBO series, as High Maintenance did. The show, which follows pot deliveryman in New York, will make its HBO debut this fall. Having debuted in 2012, the show has run for six three-episode seasons, which will all be available on HBO Now and HBO Go.In the first trailer for the new season on HBO, it looks like High Maintenance creators Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair have lost none of their fleeting, stoner charm in the movie to a premium network.

The Long Beach native has popped up on a few different shows this year and he’s about to add another one to the list. Snoop was announced as an executive producer and guest star for the upcoming MTV show Mary + Jane. The weed-themed series is a comedy about two best friends running an all-female marijuana delivery service in Los Angeles. In addition to Snoop Dogg’s duties as a producer and guest star, he also created the theme song for the new MTV program. The Doggfather is no stranger to television themes as he most recently crafted one for Comedy Central’s Another Period. Fans will get to hear what he made for Mary + Jane when the show premieres on Sept. 5. While the weed-centric nature of the show and Los Angeles location would make you think that Snoop Dogg is appearing as himself in the show, that is not the case. Snoop Dogg’s guest spot in Mary + Jane comes on the heels of his prominent role in the latest season of the cult classic Trailer Park Boys. Snoop’s also been the star of two reality shows in 2016: AOL’s Coach Snoop and BET’s Music Moguls.

Best Stoner Podcasts – The Chill Bud

Everyone knows that television is a heavily scripted mess of fake personalities and fantastical concepts. If you want to get a real live look at your favorite celebrities or public figures, podcasts are the way to go. There is a podcast for everyone, and thankfully there are a handful that are really geared towards stoners. So light one up, kick back and enjoy some of the best stoner podcasts available on the web. This is a super chill podcast made specifically for cannabis enthusiasts. Alright time for full disclosure, I haven’t listened / watched to all of the podcasts on this list. I just feel that the official High Times podcast hosted by Danny Danko has to be included in the mix, and I promise to get to it soon. Most recently he competed on Dancing with the Stars and didn’t once hide the fact that he is an avid pot smoker. If anyone smokes more weed than Joey Diaz, it’s Tommy. This podcast and the next are a couple I have yet to check out, but I assure you, they are well-known marijuana podcasts and you should probably have a listen.

Money Morning: Tech Marijuana Firms Need To Grow “Good Stuff”

Every pot grower knows that lots of care, technique, and technology goes into the cultivation and feeding of marijuana plants. All that’s needed so those plants can flower and produce commercially and medically useful compounds – especially the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol that relieves pain and nausea and gets recreational users high. It’s also the specialty of the company I’m going to show you today. This company is one of the fundamental picks in my Nova-X Report’s Roadmap to Marijuana Millions model portfolio. With it, you’ll start tapping the profit power in legal cannabis and keep your risk low. Marijuana plants must be exposed to light for 12 hours a day – and be kept in darkness for just as long. That’s fine for folks who grow their own at home. To protect their investment, growers turn to state-of-the-art greenhouses containing high-tech devices and monitors such as hygrometers, which see to it that humidity levels never get above 50%, and CO2 tanks, which add the carbon dioxide that plants breathe to indoor air.
