Funny weed smokers marijuana comedy Ep30Part3

Did Marijuana Save Kevin Smith’s Life?

Smith was told that marijuana had kept him calm during his heart attack. In some people marijuana can have paradoxical effects, with some studies suggesting that it may actually increase anxiety[1,2] and others suggesting no effect at all. 3,4] Presumably, staying calm and lowering your heart rate would help by decreasing myocardial oxygen demand, but the limited evidence that exists suggests that marijuana increases heart rate instead. In 1972, Beaconsfield and colleagues exposed volunteers to marijuana smoke and found that heart rate increased by a mean of > 20 beats/min and systolic blood pressure by 5-10 mm Hg. Another study involving healthy volunteers found that intravenous administration of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol increased heart rate but not blood pressure. Participants with angiographically documented coronary artery disease were given either a marijuana cigarette or a placebo cigarette that contained only trace amounts of THC.

The researchers found that marijuana had no effect on anxiety, decreased myocardial oxygen delivery, and decreased the exercise threshold for angina in the study participants. Some suggest an increased risk for incident MI. In the Determinants of MI Onset Study, Mittleman and colleagues examined the role of marijuana in triggering an MI. In this case-crossover study, where patients serve as their own control, the risk for MI was elevated 4.8-fold in the hour after marijuana use, but no increased risk was observed after 2 hours. The study included 3882 patients with MI; of these, 124 reported smoking marijuana in the year before their heart attack, including nine who smoked the hour before.

Two subsequent cohort studies offered conflicting evidence on the association between marijuana use and survival post-MI. In the first, from 2008, Mukamal and colleagues reported that over a median of 3.8 years of follow-up, the hazard ratio for MI was 2.5 for marijuana use less than once per week and 4.2 for marijuana use once or more per week compared with nonusers. Only 52 of the 1913 patients reported marijuana use in the year before their heart attack. A subsequent publication from the Determinants of MI Onset Study that included 3886 patients followed for up to 18 years showed no association between marijuana use and mortality, contradicting the earlier findings. Lori Walker, PhD, from the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus, has studied the effects of marijuana on heart disease and presented findings at the American College of Cardiology 2016 Scientific Sessions linking marijuana use to improved hospital survival after MI.

However, she cautions that the data are far from definitive and insufficient to attribute Smith’s recovery to marijuana use. Data from the CARDIA study showed that marijuana users had worse diets, were more likely to smoke cigarettes, and were more likely to use illicit drugs. Although smoked marijuana may be more harmful than edible marijuana products because of its combustion by-products, data comparing different types of marijuana are lacking.

Everything to Know About Topical Marijuana

CBD has no psychoactive properties and, unlike THC, can be sold in all 50 states as long as it’s derived specifically from industrial hemp. Applied to the skin, it can diminish localized pain-indeed, the first CBD products to hit the market were designed primarily to target sore muscles and arthritis. Now CBD is turning up in everything from face serums to lip balms, and with mounting studies substantiating its efficacy and versatility, what we’re currently seeing may be just the beginning. While CBD has emerged as the star player in most lotions and potions currently cropping up from niche brands across the country, evidence does suggest that its effects can be boosted by combining it with other active molecules from the cannabis plant, including THC and/or terpenes, the phytochemicals that give pot its distinctive aroma. Many brands-such as Whoopi Goldberg’s Whoopi & Maya line, which was created to relieve period pain, and Los Angeles-based luxury brand Lord Jones, whose chicly packaged, edible THC-laced gummies and chocolates are Instagram gold-are formulated with both CBD and THC.

Other brands, targeting states with stricter antimarijuana laws, stick with straight-up CBD that has been extracted in a way that retains many other naturally occurring molecules, such as terpenes and flavonoids. Even in small doses, CBD alone appears to be beneficial. Still, says Friedman, we have a long way to go before the cannabis plant, which contains scores more yet-unstudied cannabinoids beyond CBD and THC, is fully understood-not to mention the full effects each of those individual cannabinoids have when applied to skin. As long as it’s derived from industrial hemp, CBD can be sold in any of the 50 states. CBD Care Garden Face Karma Anti-Aging Moisturizer replenishes skin with Swiss apple stem cells and peptides, as well as 20 mg of pure CBD.2.

CBD For Life 99% Pure CBD Extract Pain Relief Spray nixes aches and pains with a potent combo of cannabinoid extract, arnica, menthol, and camphor. Dixie Synergy Relief Balm contains 50 mg of both CBD and THC per container to treat localized pain and inflammation. Originally devised for use in the founders’ Hollywood wellness practice, Lord Jones High CBD Pain & Wellness Formula Body Lotion, currently sold only in California, combines CBD and THC in a five-to-one ratio to diminish discomfort from pulled muscles, arthritis, and eczema.

Roseanne’s Marijuana Episode Part 2

More Parents Smoking Marijuana Around Children, Study Says « CBS Denver

NEW YORK – As regulations crack down on the dangers of cigarette smoke, a new study is warning that many parents are undoing all of this progress by exposing their children to secondhand marijuana smoke. A study says more parents are smoking marijuana around their children. Researchers point to the decriminalization of marijuana for the change. The study warns that children are being exposed to more secondhand smoke because of higher marijuana use. According to researchers from Columbia University, the number of cigarette-smoking parents who said they used marijuana increased from 11 percent in 2002 to over 17 percent in 2015.

Researchers found that tobacco cigarette use has fallen by seven percent during the decade-long survey. Some of the credit for the decline likely goes to stricter laws on cigarettes, which have reduced the places smokers can light up and cut down on nicotine within the products. The study adds that as tobacco laws increase, states have loosened the laws governing marijuana use. Dr. Karen Wilson says the ability for more parents to smoke pot legally could create a dangerous environment for children breathing in secondhand smoke.

Whether marijuana smoke is as addictive as tobacco smoke may be up for debate, but the damage from inhaling it has already been studied. A recent study by biologist Matthew Springer found that marijuana smoke is three times worse for the arterial walls than cigarette smoke.

The Inner Monologue of a Guy Smoking Weed for the First Time

Every time a group of men under the age of 25 gathers for long periods of time, you can bet your last two cents that one of them will be smoking weed. Whether it’s a road trip, a concert, or a day spent playing Halo 3, someone is eventually going to bust out the green. Most of your group is used to this, but there’s always the odd time a fresh face appears who may not be as chronic-minded as the rest of you, so you, being the good host that you are, decide to let the newbie take a hit of the bong, just so he doesn’t feel left out. The following is exactly what’s going through his mind as he smokes weed for the first time. Huh, I thought it would look more like those leaves I’ve seen on Dr.

Dre albums; this stuff just looks like little nuggets. Holy shit look at that stucco ceiling, it’s got like faces in it. I should say something, I’ve been quiet for like 20 minutes looking at this ceiling. Okay well let’s take a walk to see what this guy has in his kitchen. I’ve been leaning on this kitchen counter for like 5 minutes, the nachos are starting to mock me from the bowl.

WAIT! Why haven’t I ever seen this before, raw nachos are just chips! Note to self: tell everyone you know about the nacho fraud. I should see what everyone else is doing, maybe they want some nachos. I really think weed makes me smarter, I just talked in-depth to that guy about how Iron Man could totally beat up Batman in a fight.

So your done doing your very first harvest on your produce, you harvested all of your buds and now you are all left with a huge pile of leaves. There are a few ways you could use your cannabis leaves after your harvesting of buds is done. If you want to smoke your leaves yes you can, it can give you a slight buzz but wont get you that mind bending experience like buds can do. The problem with leaves is that you cant just get rid of them for they have little THC left in them too, they are too precious just to throw away. So thinking of alternative ways to get rid of the leaves from your harvest is to make extra money out of your leaves.

One good way to do this is to make cannabutter out of your leaves. Of course your leaves, mash your leaves into small bits as you place your butter into your pan. Let it sit beside the butter as it melts and let the THCs transfer from the leaves to the butter, just let it simmer for about thirty minutes. After you have done this you can now use a sieve in get those green bits out of your butter, or you can just leave them be. After youre done with the combining of leaves and butter, let it sit for an hour before using it.

On the other hand you can always make hash from your cured leaves and make extra bucks from pure resin. There are a dozen ways on how to use your cannabis leaves just after harvesting, just look on the right places to have guides on what to do.

Best Weed Movies of All Time

Today, stoner movies is a separate subgenre in cinematography. The image of cannabis culture differs from movie to movie-sometimes stoners are represented in a positive way, sometimes they are shown comically. Either way, many movies that revolve around people smoking weed are funny and professionally made. Reefer Madness may be the first movie to not only picture the use of marijuana but to be also completely dedicated to this topic. The movie tells us a story of innocent teenagers, marijuana dealers, crazy parties with jazz music, and, of course, reefers-weed cigarettes.

Though the movie’s depiction of the cannabis community may be highly exaggerated and shown only from a stereotypical perspective, Reefer Madness is a movie that every cannabis enthusiast should watch. It is a movie where academics and weed are combined in 90 minutes of fun. Alongside the famous comedy actors, the movie stars Snoop Dogg as a scavenger smoker. Harold & Kumar is not just a stoner movie that you can watch once and forget about. Despite the ongoing debates about the quality of the movie, the series has been a financial success.

This duo is famous for their hippie movies and stand-up routine. The duo starred in more than nine movies that were recognized as the most iconic stoner comedies including Up in Smoke, Cheech&Chong’s Next Move, Nice Dreams, Cheech&Chong’s Animated Movie, and many others.

cannabis and comedy

Splitsider – Comedians like Doug Benson and Stephen Colbert have been getting a lot of joke-mileage out of Colorado’s legalization of marijuana last January. The name is derived from Khalatbari’s chain of pizza restaurants, Sexy Pizza, one of which hosted the first Sexpot Comedy show early last year. The show has since grown and splintered into several regular events, hosted at different comedy clubs and music venues around town under the Sexpot banner. For years Denver has been a known destination for touring comics; the thirty-year-old Comedy Works has been proclaimed by performers like Dave Chappelle and Dave Attell as their favorite comedy club. Last summer, Juett and comedian Adam Cayton-Holland produced Denver’s first large-scale comedy festival, The High Plains Comedy Festival, which was headlined by Reggie Watts and ended up being a sold-out success. It was Kayvan Khalatbari’s marijuana dispensary, Denver Relief, that initially sponsored several different comedy shows and podcasts around town, back when Sexpot was just a witty pun being tossed around. While this continues in some arenas, the Sexpot Comedy shows have been gaining a lucrative momentum of their own, in part thanks to Juett’s utilization of the local comedy radio station for marketing, as well as the throbbing enthusiasm coming from Colorado’s energized marijuana scene. There’s no getting around the fact that some cannabis consumption goes on at Sexpot shows, whether through edibles, vaporizers or straight-up smoldering joints. Khalatbari shares Juett’s feeling that marijuana shouldn’t come to dominate the identity of Sexpot Comedy. He’s derisive of the Cannabis Cup and 420 Festival culture that has become an unfortunate media focus of Colorado marijuana scene; and says that he is equally sick of the endless cosmos-and-munchies jokes that every hack comedian rolls out when performing in Denver.

Looking Through The Lens

July 1, 2003 – Long-term and even daily marijuana use doesn’t appear to cause permanent brain damage, adding to evidence that it can be a safe and effective treatment for a wide range of diseases, say researchers. Otherwise, scores on thinking tests were similar to those who don’t smoke marijuana, according to a new analysis of 15 previous studies. In those studies, some 700 regular marijuana users were compared with 484 non-users on various aspects of brain function – including reaction time, language and motor skills, reasoning ability, memory, and the ability to learn new information. The marijuana users in those 15 studies – which lasted between three months to more than 13 years – had smoked marijuana several times a week or month or daily. Grant’s analysis, published in the July issue of the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society, comes as many states consider laws allowing marijuana to be used to treat certain medical conditions. Medicinal marijuana is available by prescription in the Netherlands and a new marijuana drug is expected to be released in Great Britain later this year. In the U.S. and elsewhere, Marinol, a drug that is a synthetic form of marijuana and contains its active ingredient, THC, is available by prescription to treat loss of appetite associated with weight loss in AIDS patients. Grant says he did the analysis to help determine long-term toxicity from long-term and frequent marijuana use. Grant’s findings come as no surprise to Tod Mikuriya, MD, former director of non-classified marijuana research for the National Institute of Mental Health Center for Narcotics and Drug Abuse Studies and author of The Marijuana Medical Handbook: A Guide to Therapeutic Use. He is currently president of the California Cannabis Medical Group, which has treated some 20,000 patients with medicinal marijuana and Marinol.

A Definitive Guide to Stoner Comedies

While some pot films, like Dazed and Confused and Pineapple Express, have emerged as polished and coherent efforts that are pleasing to stoners and non-stoners alike, most other marijuana-heavy comedies are scraggly, unfocused yarns that by the end are just limping toward that 90 minute mark, oftentimes not even having enough story to fill that scant runtime. With the release of their first film, the 1978 hit Up in Smoke, the stoner comedy archetype was born. Cheech & Chong had broken up in 1985 and stoner comedies became less and less prevalent as the effects of the pot-centric 60s and 70s wore off. The late ’80s and early ’90s saw the rise of a new crop of movies that felt like stoner buddy comedies, they just didn’t have any drugs in them. Stoner comedies experienced a resurgence in the ’90s. With the Reagan era over and the country’s attitude towards marijuana relaxing, drug use began to trickle back into the theaters. Up in Smoke and the rest of the Cheech & Chong seriesCheech & Chong were definitely the trendsetters when it comes to stoner comedies. Fast Times at Ridgemont HighAlthough Fast Times isn’t a traditional stoner comedy and doesn’t feature very many scenes of pot use, it did introduce us to Sean Penn as Jeff Spiccoli, one of the most famous movie stoners of all time. Although movies like Dazed and Confused and The Stoned Age were the first significant pot movies after the dry spell, Friday brought the stoner film back to the Cheech & Chong basics, jumpstarted several big film careers and inspired two sequels. While the above films are the stoner comedy standards, there are many worthwhile films that were dwarfed by the impact of these ones but are nonetheless quite enjoyable. Anything I didn’t mention here hasn’t had the same influence on other pot comedies as the listed films did or been embraced by stoner culture in the same way.

The Medical ‘Benefits’ of THC and Smoking Marijuana: a Review of the Current Scientific Literature

1 Medical studies have shown that the active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, might provide some medical benefits in some patients. This paper represents a current review of the medical literature regarding the benefits and drawbacks of using marijuana for medical or recreational purposes. Anecdotal evidence for the beneficial effects of marijuana eventually led to the design of controlled scientific studies to examine the benefits of marijuana compared to other treatments. The use of marijuana or cannabis extracts for medical treatment has been extensively studied over the last 20 years. 42 A 38-year study of more than 1,000 New Zealanders found that adolescents who used marijuana at least four days per week lost an average of eight IQ points between the ages of 13 and 38.43 Those people who began heavy smoking of marijuana only in adulthood did not suffer a loss of IQ. Loss of IQ was not reversible once marijuana use was ceased. Although smoking marijuana doesn’t have the same degree of risk as smoking tobacco, smoking anything over long periods of time does add to risks of contracting forms of cancer of the respiratory tract. Absolute correlation of marijuana smoking with cancer risks are complicated by concomitant tobacco smoking and increased alcohol use among marijuana users. The data shows that research on the medical effects of marijuana is becoming increasingly negative and decreasingly positive over the last 11 years of medical research. The number of studies examining the medical aspects of marijuana has increased markedly over the last 5 years, dramatically expanding our knowledge of the mostly negative aspects of marijuana usage. Having received dozens of emails saying how good marijuana is, I have felt the need for a thorough review of the scientific literature regarding the positive and negative aspects of marijuana use.
