How To Score A Weed Card | Michael Malone | Stand-Up Comedy

Should I Call 911 When My Friends Start Flipping Out On Marijuana?

It seems that just about the time the second joint starts getting passed around the room, the girlfriend of the guy that nobody really wanted there in the first place goes quiet. Her situation is a little suspect, as everyone notices that she keeps feeling her chest from time to time. That’s when the quiet girl, despite knowing deep down inside that she is having some difficulty keeping up with the group’s rotation, decides she is going to try smoking high-powered concentrates for the first time. They will soon regret offering this level of encouragement. As soon as she blows out the hit, she looks as though she has been shot in the heart at close range.

It is at that point when she starts belting out a cornucopia of strange, colorful obscenities and begging for someone, anyone to call 911. Depending on which state a person lives in, calling in the cavalry when someone starts flipping out after consuming too much marijuana can bring nothing but trouble. Since it is impossible to die from a marijuana overdose, and the herb cannot cause any damage to a person’s internal organs, calling 911 for a THC terror trip is really just a waste of time. Sometimes those ever-so-popular cannabis freak-outs and subsequent calls to 911 can lead to hilarity. His video for the song The Leaf, which is a first person account of the time he called 911 following a cannabis-induced panic attack, has left the Internet in stitches.

Allport, who also works as an Associate Producer on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, told Forbes that he thought he was having a heart attack after smoking weed for the first time. After going through a rather tumotulous experience in an upstairs bathroom, which included a life-or-death battle with a dry tongue, he was lucky enough to reach a 911 dispatcher who understood exactly what he was going through.

‘Disjointed’ Is Like Any Workplace Sitcom

‘Disjointed’ Is Like Any Workplace Sitcom – With More Pot, Sex And Language Set in a medical marijuana dispensary, the big networks all turned the show down. Chuck Lorre is, without question, television’s sitcom king. He created two of today’s top money-making syndicated shows – The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men – and his other hits over the years include Dharma & Greg, Grace Under Fire, Mike & Molly and Mom. Lorre’s new show, Disjointed, co-created with David Javerbaum, premieres Friday on Netflix. The show’s Los Angeles set is a hippy-looking shop filled with psychedelic posters and glass cases displaying actual product.

Lorre describes his latest show, Disjointed, as just a regular workplace comedy, with wacky customers and lovable employees. The family tension in Disjointed is also more literal, deriving partly from the dynamic between Bates’ Earth mother character and her much more corporate son. Bates says she needed no such coaching; the subject matter is partly what drew her to the show. People are watching Netflix stoned with or without our show – by the millions, I would imagine. If the only people who watch us are stoned people who watch Neflix, that’s an enormous audience.

His show Mom, for example, is about a pair of recovering addicts, a mother and daughter. Javerbaum is a former head writer for Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and the Broadway play An Act of God.

Comedian Doug Benson tells more than marijuana jokes

Doug Benson releases one album per year, has appeared on numerous TV shows, hosts a popular web series, Getting Doug With High, as well as multiple podcasts, namely Doug Loves Movies, and occasionally stars in movies – like his Super High Me, a documentary in which he smokes marijuana every day for 30 days. All of this is, of course, in addition to doing stand up across the country and throughout the world. We recently caught up with the cannabis connoisseur to hear about his high functioning career. DB: You caught me right before I’m going to be operating a motor vehicle no, I don’t drive high. CP: Charleston’s comedy scene is growing, and there will be many aspiring and professional comics at your show.

CP: You’re known for your crazy hard work ethic, but you generally seem to downplay it. DB: Sometimes I stop and ask myself why I have so many projects going on all the time, and it’s because I enjoy it. If I didn’t like doing one of my five podcasts, I’d stop doing it. If I didn’t enjoy going out on the road, I’d stop. CP: You did some extra work years ago in big-budget films, and you’ve appeared on a number of scripted shows.

DB: If someone wanted to give me a dramatic acting role I would probably do it. It’s call Chronic-Con, and it’s about me trying to get high with people dressed as superheroes at Comic-Con in San Diego.

Podcast: How Gringo director Nash Edgerton made a cannabis comedy, never touched the stuff

While Gringo, a new slapstick comedy out this week via Amazon Studios, rides the well-trod trope of a mega corporation up to no good, there’s a modern and timely twist: they’re manufacturing cannabis pills, called Cannabax, down in Mexico. Gringo is chock-full of Grade-A goofiness – weird diatribes about space exploration, kidnappings gone awry, dirty Mexican slang, awkward office sex – but at its heart is some genuine commentary on the ethics of the exploding cannabis industry, and Big Business’ growing role in it. The film, which stars David Oyelowo and Charlize Theron, was directed by Australian stunt-double-turned-director Nash Edgerton. We caught up with Edgerton to learn more about how he came to direct the film, what he thinks about cannabis legalization, his own history with cannabis and more. For the juicy details, tune in to our conversation with Edgerton, in this week’s episode of the Hash podcast, below.

Best Stoner Comedy Movies

The stoner comedy genre has always been a voice on political times – perhaps an apathetic, lackadaisical voice, yet nonetheless, a voice. These films have plenty to offer stoned and non-stoned viewers alike. In the counterculture of the late ’70s, they set the tone for the rest of the stoner comedy genre to follow suit. As they bumble and swerve their way down the road, discussing inanities and fleeing cops, they influence entire generations of future stoners, and stoner films, to come. In a word, he became the symbol of the ’80s stoner. One of the few stoner comedies that does not revolve around marijuana, this 1989 film follows perpetual slackers Bill and Ted as they travel through time to learn about history for a high school history presentation. The film refueled the stoner comedy genre of the ’90s by first introducing the world to Matthew McConaughey as party fiend David Wooderson. By showing us the truth in suburban, middle-class banality – heavily influenced by stoner culture – Kevin Smith was able to launch his career with this low-budget classic. In the first film of this series, we follow unemployed stoners Smokey and Craig for the duration of a day as they smoke their entire stash and have to figure out a plot to pay back the money to their dealer. It also became the genre’s archetype for stoner buddy films made over the past 10 years.

Chicago USA

Because of the thousands of people like Rubén, McDonald’s had to change their coffee stirrer from a little spoon on a long stem because people like Rubén used it to snort coke, to a flat paddle and later a small straw. Anyway, thanks to Rubén, I attended my first rock concert. Led Zeppelin came to Chicago in January of 1975 and word was out that all the tickets would sell out immediately. We went to old Chicago Stadium box office about two hours before it opened at 10:00 a.m. We didn’t want to oversleep the time of the first ticket sales, so we stayed up all night drinking wine. When we arrived at the ticket office at 8:00 a.m., we were tired, but determined to obtain tickets. Rubén collected our ticket money and ran toward the Stadium like a deranged lunatic. Several policemen tried to stop him, but he dodged them, jumped onto the hood of their unmarked police car, then to the car roof, before leaping to the front of the ticket line. We waited patiently for him in my Firebird that was parked a block away, but within view of the ticket office. About four hours later, Rubén emerged from the ticket office with six concert tickets! We were going to see Led Zeppelin in concert! The last time I saw Rubén was at that Led Zeppelin concert, partying, getting high, and bouncing his head to the music.

False representations: Media portrayal of marijuana

The media consistently represents marijuana as a dangerous substance that leads to issues with psychological addiction, drug lords, mental problems and inevitable abuse of other drugs. The media paints marijuana as a drug that will inevitably lead to the destruction of lives, instead of as a viable recreational substance with potentially positive health benefits. As a recreational drug, marijuana is less dangerous than tobacco and alcohol. Last year, about 25 million Americans smoked marijuana. More than 14 million Americans smoke marijuana on a regular basis, according to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Medical use of marijuana relies on the effects of two cannabinoids, THC and CBD. THC bolsters appetite and decreases nausea, pain and inflammation. Despite similar rates of marijuana use between blacks and whites, blacks are far more likely to be arrested for marijuana-related offenses. According to a March Pew Research Center survey, about 48 percent of adults have tried marijuana, which is a record high for the drug. In order to overcome these stigmas and stand a chance at legalization or decriminalization, we need more diverse and more accurate representations of marijuana. After his month-long cleanse, he smokes marijuana every day for a month straight to test its long-term effects.

Review: ‘Disjointed’ Is One Buzzkill of a Pot Comedy

Even in a more choom-friendly America, it’d be a tough sell at CBS.The result is a mess of a comedy that doesn’t feel as if it belongs anywhere. Ruth runs her shop, Ruth’s Alternative Caring, with her strait-laced M.B.A. son, Travis. For the intoxicant, this kind of wacky family-work hybrid could have aired 25 years ago. It’s also raunchy without much sophistication and distractingly self-conscious. The best subplot involves the security guard, Carter, an Iraq veteran grappling with post-traumatic stress disorder. Back in the present, she shakes her head at how worked up she and the crowd got over what was, in retrospect, lousy pot.

Southeast Denver Suburbs

After running the Comedy Works downtown – which some consider one of the finest comedy clubs in the nation – for nearly two decades, Wende Curtis opened the Landmark location in October 2008. While the downtown club brings in the younger, hipper and edgier comics, Comedy Works South generally brings in the slightly cleaner, nationally known acts. This 21,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility, which also includes a restaurant and a martini bar, is an upgrade on the downtown location, and the comedy theater holds nearly twice as many people. The venue is also available for private functions, including business meetings, reunions and wedding parties.

The city said zoning charges against Green Leaf are still before the courts, and the next appearance date is June 7. Lafferre said he met with a Peel police detective in the Major Drugs and Vice unit a month before he opened. Peel police had a different take on the issue when asked by The Guardian if that was the official position on the lounge. He said not all patrons use marijuana while at the club, and there are sometimes as many as 10 just there for the comedy.

‘Disjointed’ review: Kathy Bates stars in pot comedy

The writers also play with those conventions, such as incorporating commercial spoofs for pot-themed products, which is probably the cleverest recurring bit the show has to offer. The show veers back to more familiar terrain with the prickly relationship between Bates’ free spirit and her MBA son Travis, who has his own ongoing flirtation with a coworker. TV’s increasingly casual attitude toward pot can be seen in a number of reality shows devoted to the business of medicinal marijuana, as well as its use within premium series.
