Robin Williams – Alcohol and Marijuana – Live Stand Up Comedy

Now That Weed Is Legal in Canada, We Asked College Students if It’s Still Cool

Forty years after singer Peter Tosh’s immortal call to action, Canada’s about two weeks deep into the promised land of legal weed, and aside from a few hiccups-rogue dispensaries courting police raids, national cannabis shortages, and mass mail delivery delays-it’s been everything we’ve dreamed of. Like obviously it wasn’t legal but Vancouver has a weed culture already. I feel like the reason that nobody really cares that much is that people didn’t really care that much in the first place here because it was so lenient with the rules that it’s not like nobody was really afraid to smoke weed in the first place. My mom was telling me-she works at Safeway-she said that all of a sudden in her break room, everyone’s talking about weed when that would never be a topic of conversation before legalization. I wasn’t even smoking weed entirely before, but I had smoked weed openly in a park before it was legal.

So that’s the only thing that’s lame about it I would say, but weed itself isn’t lame. At the same time, it is funny that every time I had smoked weed before legalization, it was something I wasn’t supposed to be doing and now it’s like it’s lost some of its charm. So high schoolers smoking weed, they’re going to be in the same camp as their moms and dads. I’m glad for high schoolers smoking weed, they still get to experience that novelty, whereas for me I’m old [laughs]. I think stoner culture is completely a product of the effects of marijuana, it’s very legitimate that you smoke weed and you get the munchies, and you want to watch unintelligent comedy that’s easy to enjoy, I guess.

More people smoke it, more people enjoy the humor and basically start eating half-baked Ben & Jerry’s and watching old Cheech & Chong movies. They’ll never get that feeling that I got when I was smoking weed for the first time.

Doctors warn parents about marijuana mixed in with Halloween candy

SAN DIEGO: With recreational marijuana now legal in California, doctors are warning parents to be extra vigilant when checking their kids’ candy on Halloween. They worry that the kids may confuse edibles for candy. State law allows edibles but has strict guidelines for how much THC can be in them. A package can’t contain more than 100 milligrams, and each piece can’t have more than 10. Marijuana vendors say new rules also make it harder for the edibles to be confused for candy.

Packaging for marijuana-infused food must also be child resistant and clearly labeled. Dr. Elia recommends keeping edibles locked away, similar to the way people treat medicine they don’t want kids to get. He says the side effects of THC on children could be devastating. Elia also says parents should be extra vigilant when checking their kids’ trick-or-treat candy, to make sure an edible didn’t wind up in their collection.

Funny Marijuana Nicknames, According to the DEA – Rolling Stone

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions hasn’t exactly taken a progressive stance on marijuana since taking office. Not only did the former senator from Alabama rescind an Obama-era policy aimed at curbing sentences for non-violent drug offenses, his understanding of marijuana is trapped squarely in the 1950s. The federal government feels similarly, as marijuana is still categorized as a Schedule I narcotic alongside heroin, LSD and peyote. The most robust compendium of street code belongs to marijuana.

Some are non-English or refer to specific marijuana strains rather than general code. If one should overhear a few teens conspiring to purchase some lime pillows, they will know that they are talking about drugs, not home decor, and the authorities can be alerted. Rolling Stone reached out to the DEA with some questions about the report, but the agency has yet to respond.

Legalize Marijuana 420 – Keith Lowell Jensen Stand-Up Comedy

High times: why TV is getting blazed on cannabis comedies

For years, marijuana was portrayed as either an evil gateway drug or as a prop to signify that the character using it was a hopeless, lazy slacker. While drug use on TV is not regulated by FCC rules, there are certain moral guidelines that networks were obliged to uphold, at least before 10pm. When the counter culture movement was thoroughly under way, the small screen dealt with it in one of three ways: ignoring it altogether, actively preaching against it or portraying it slyly, as exemplified by Scooby Doo’s perma-stoned heroes, Shaggy and Scooby, who made their TV debut long before Cheech and Chong showed up in the 70s. By the 1980s Miami Vice was tackling drugs and Nancy Reagan was making a bizarre cameo in Diff’rent Strokes to promote the Just Say No campaign. For a long time any show that wanted to be positive about the issue had to side-step it, like That 70s Show, where the characters got stoned without a single spliff being seen on screen.

As attitudes towards weed soften and with it being decriminalized – if not quite legalized – in many more US states, the depiction of marijuana on TV is changing. Now we see characters using it in the same way that you’d previously show characters having a drink; it’s a recreational activity that doesn’t have any moralizing attached to it. Characters in Girls, Broad City, Mr Robot and more smoke, without it leading to a worthy storyline about addiction or a descent into crime. HBO has set the bar high by turning web series High Maintenance into a hit show this month. Each episode tells a different story, featuring different characters, all linked by the unnamed man who delivers their weed.

The characters all smoke, but that’s not the main focus. The show is brilliantly unexpected – the first episode provides a wonderful subversion of the friendship between a gay man and a straight woman – but the weed is simply a device to explore these disparate characters. Netflix has also gotten in on the trend, ordering 20 episodes of Chuck Lorre’s Disjointed, a comedy starring Kathy Bates as the owner of an LA-based cannabis dispensary, and Kevin Smith, a man who knows a thing or two about writing stoner characters, has filmed a spec pilot about a weed dispensary in LA. Even NBC has been considering a weed show, with Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott’s Buds, a comedy set in a marijuana shop in Denver. Not all drugs are getting the comedy treatment – heroin and meth are still the reserve of heavy-going dramas – but TV producers have clearly loosened up when it comes to cannabis.

Elon Musk smokes weed, sips whiskey on a comedy show

Elon Musk sipped whiskey and smoked marijuana during a 2 1/2-hour podcast with California comedian Joe Rogan that touched upon everything from flame throwers and artificial intelligence to the end of the universe. Musk, 47, took one drag from what Rogan described as a joint containing tobacco mixed with marijuana, which is legal in California. A Tesla spokesperson in Germany wasn’t immediately available to comment. The spot on one of the most popular podcasts in the US marks Musk’s first appearance in a public forum since he stunned the financial world last month with his short-lived effort to take Tesla private. Along the way, Musk drew a subpoena from the Securities and Exchange Commission, which already had been scrutinizing the public pronouncements he’s made regarding manufacturing goals and sales targets.

Tesla and its CEO are now also facing a litany of lawsuits claiming market manipulation, including one filed Thursday by Andrew Left, the founder of Citron Research and prominent short seller. The episode also raised concern about Musk’s health. The bewildering incidents have played out during a critical period for Tesla. The Palo Alto, California-based company faces concerns about its limited cash balance, maturing debt and struggle to steadily build high volumes of the Model 3 sedan, the first electric vehicle that Musk has attempted to mass-manufacture. Musk told Rogan that running Tesla is the hardest of his several endeavors.

Musk is also the founder of the tunneling startup Boring Co., plus Neuralink, which is developing brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers. Neuralink may have something interesting to announce in a few months, Musk told Rogan.

Legalizing Marijuana in Canada | RON JAMES

Is it legal to mail marijuana between states? Here’s what federal and state laws say.

Mailing pot across state lines is an incredibly bad idea, according to Erik Altieri, executive director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Under the Controlled Substances Act – which was signed into law by President Richard Nixon in 1970 to regulate the manufacture, possession and use of certain drugs – marijuana is a Schedule 1 drug. Drug trafficking penalties vary depending on the schedule of the drug being trafficked and the amount. For less than 50 kilograms of marijuana, the maximum penalty for the first offense is up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000 for a single individual. For the second offense, the maximum penalty doubles: up to 10 years behind bars and a fine not to exceed $500,000.

The DEA lists penalties for more serious crimes on its website. These penalties can apply to both sender and recipient. Marijuana is also the most commonly seized drug by postal inspectors. In fiscal year 2014, inspectors seized 39,301 pounds of marijuana. That number dropped to 34,305 in 2015, the first full fiscal year for which medical marijuana was legal in Colorado and Washington.

Jersey City to Decriminalize Marijuana

Marijuana laws in Jersey City go up in smoke as of Thursday, July 19, as Mayor Steven Fulop and Chief Prosecutor Jake Hudnut direct all Jersey City prosecutors to cease prosecuting marijuana possession cases before the municipal courts. Jersey City will be the first in New Jersey to put forward a policy to address decriminalization on a local level, in the hopes of guiding other towns across the state to enact similar changes to outdated marijuana policies. As the state continues to pass around various versions of a marijuana decriminalization program, Jersey City simply took it upon themselves to spark their own effort. According to the City, there are more than 25,000 arrests for marijuana possession each year in New Jersey-and it is estimated that prosecution following these arrests has cost the state well more than $1 billion each decade in policing, court operations, probation, and jailing.

Marijuana VS. Crystal Meth – Funny but true video

FDA Approves Marijuana-Based Pharmaceutical Drug

FDA Approves Marijuana-Based Pharmaceutical Drug : Shots – Health News For the first time, the FDA has approved a drug containing CBD, an extract of marijuana. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a marijuana-derived drug for the treatment of two rare and serious forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, that begin in childhood but can persist in adulthood. The drug is made from purified cannabidiol, or CBD, a compound found in the cannabis plant. The drug will be marketed under the brand name Epidiolex.

CBD has medicinal effects, but it does not cause the mind-altering high that comes from THC, the primary psychoactive component of marijuana. The FDA says this is the first drug approved in the U.S. that contains a purified substance derived from marijuana. The agency has previously approved drugs made from synthetic versions of THC and other marijuana constituents. They’re not regulated the way pharmaceutical drugs are, so the consistency and dose can vary widely.

Having an FDA-approved, pharmaceutical-grade CBD drug will open up a new treatment option for epilepsy patients by delivering a high-quality, consistent dose of CBD, says Robert Carson a pediatric neurologist at Vanderbilt University who treats patients with epilepsy. The approval of Epidiolex may help open the door to more CBD research, as it helps to lift one regulatory hurdle. Until now, the Drug Enforcement Administration has classified CBD as a Schedule 1 substance. With the approval of a CBD drug, the DEA will change this, according to Dr. Douglas Throckmorton, deputy director of regulatory programs at the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research,.

Marijuana Is LSD

Marijuana is one of the less potent psychoactive drugs. Yes, in their universe, marijuana is LSD. It is worth mentioning that large doses of marijuana can produce hallucinations in some people. It’s a matter of debate whether second-hand marijuana smoke has any real effects, beyond giving some people a splitting headache and nausea from the smell. Justified in one case of Detective Conan, where the marijuana that drove a manor full of society elites into a murderous frenzy is said to have been laced with something far more dangerous.

Class of Nuke ‘Em High has an excuse for this-the marijuana was grown next to the nuclear power plant. In the early seventies educational film Focus on LSD, marijuana and hashish are listed as psychedelic drugs along with LSD, mescaline, peyote, STP and psilocybin. In How High, smoking marijuana and smoking a dead president causes a spirit to appear and communicate. Touch of Evil treats marijuana as just about the most dangerous drug out there. As if he’d never heard of a pot brownie…

Author J.T. Edson was violently opposed to marijuana and any time it is portrayed in his novels, it is shown in a negative light. Monk thinks he’s inhaled some weed smoke when he ends up catching Jimmy Belmont in the act of destroying marijuana crops that Harvey Disher had threatened to turn him in for, and starts freaking out. Party Down is pretty good about portraying drugs realistically and it’s specifically mentioned that Roman ingested about a tenth of an ounce of high-grade marijuana. Another episode features men in town deliberately getting testicular cancer in order to be able to legally buy marijuana from the local seller.

US Territory Considers Legal Marijuana Bill

New campaign finance reports received this week by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission. This is a sharp contrast to previous marijuana ballot measure campaigns in other states in which supporters have usually heavily outraised and outspent opponents. The main pro-PAC, Vote Yes On 788., registered on December 7, 2017 and got a head-start on fundraising and campaigning, raising $31,279. Their biggest donor by far was New Health Solutions Oklahoma, with a cash infusion of $130,000 and in-kind donations of legal services, office space, t-shirt printing, printing and fundraisers totaling $90,903. Didn’t even register until May 15, 2018, about 10 weeks before the vote.

The Oklahoma State Medical Association and Hospital Association and also pitched in, to the tune of $75,000 and $25,000, respectively. The largest individual donor, the retired President of Mercedes Benz of Oklahoma, gave $50,000. All of the donations came from the two people who founded the PAC, and all of the expenses went to filing fee to create the PAC, plus bank fees and mileage reimbursement. Following the passage of the ballot measure, its backers were dismayed by the way the Oklahoma State Department of Health took up implementing regulations. Approval of the medical marijuana ballot initiative marked the second time in recent years that Oklahoma voters surprised state lawmakers and law enforcement by approving a drug policy reform measure.

A group collecting signatures to get state question 797, a full marijuana legalization measure, on the ballot in November says they have reached their goal. If you value staying updated on cannabis news, please start a monthly Patreon pledge to support Marijuana Moment!

Trump Signals Possible Support For Bipartisan Marijuana Legislation

Updated at 1:25 p.m. ET. President Trump is signaling he’s willing to support a move toward the legalization of marijuana, which would be a departure from the position of his attorney general, Jeff Sessions. Gardner is co-sponsoring the legislation with Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat.

The bill would amend the federal Controlled Substances Act to allow states and tribes to write their own laws regarding the production, distribution, and possession of marijuana. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has criticized Gardner, whose state was the first to legalize marijuana, for his support for permissive marijuana laws. In April, Gardner said President Trump had promised to support such a proposal, in an apparent break with Sessions. Speaking to Colorado Public Radio on Friday, Sessions said so far Trump has not told him to back off of enforcing marijuana laws. Sessions said he will monitor the situation in Congress while continuing to enforce current federal law.

In January, Sessions reversed an Obama-era policy that had eased up on federal marijuana enforcement in states like Colorado with permissive laws.

pictures and descriptions of the most popular marijuana strains

There are many types or strains of marijuana, however they basically fit into two categories; Indica and Sativa. Breeders will often cross strains to change the growing or properties of the original. As a rule of thumb, generally Indicas tend to be shorter, stockier plants with smaller, denser and smellier buds. Indicas also flower much faster than Sativas, usually with a 6-9 week flowering period. Sativa buds will also be less smelly and take longer to flower than Indicas, usually 9-10 weeks.

Choosing types of marijuana for a garden will depend on many factors, not least what you expect of the end product. Marijuana strains are often a cross of Sativa and Indica to give properties of each i.e. to make certain Sativa smaller and more potent, or an Indica larger and with bigger buds. As far as the high is concerned, Sativas will tend to produce more of a cerebral, energetic or giggly high, while Indicas produce more of a body stoned, known to enhance physical aspects such as sound and taste and can also have a relaxing effect. Below are pictures of some of the most popular strains or types of marijuana, followed by an A-Z of strains.

10 Best Drug Movies

If you wanted to know what the 10 best drug movies are then look no further. The movie follows the lives of four addicts and their spiraling downward progression as their addictions tear their lives and relationships apart. Not for the faint of heart, this movie can be brutal to watch at times. After watching his father fail as a businessman, George vows not to follow in his footsteps. His plan for success is to become a drug dealer, starting with marijuana.

Al Pacino plays Tony Montana, an ambitious immigrant who takes over the drug cartel in Miami before his greed gets the better of him. An undercover cop trying to track the drug becomes addicted and quickly begins his descent into paranoia and a splitting identity. This movie is pretty easy to get lost in, but well worth the time. When a pothead process server witnesses a murder he finds himself and his dealer are the next targets. Sometimes it’s best to just sit back with some green and chill out.

When Harold and Kumar get the munchies after smoking they embark upon what turns out to be an epic quest for some burgers. Neil Patrick Harris shows up, and that alone is enough to put this movie on the list.

5 Less Known Movies to Watch Stoned

A craving for a movie that satisfies your curiosity and fire for the world. Most of all, you want a movie that you haven’t seen before. With the cold weather coming in, it’s a great time to give that ol’ stoned movie list a revision. The internet is riddled with overused suggestions for stoner flicks, like Donnie Darko, Friday, Inception, all of which skip the fact that these were major Hollywood hits. So with that in mind, here are five less known movies to watch while you’re stoned.

Maybe that explains why the movie is notoriously hard to understand. Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a raunchy teen comedy that chronicles the adventures of a group of fantastic characters. This movie will allow you to relive the life of a mischievous 80s high school student. Not to mention, this movie offers arguably the most iconic stoner quote of all time. True stoner comedy makes it’s stand in this list with Grandma’s Boy.

GB is constantly a film that flies under the radar for reliable stoner comedy and certainly deserves more respect. Next time before watching Harold and Kumar for the 100th time, give the pot-smoking chimpanzee in this movie a chance.

8 TV Shows to Watch High on Netflix

Sometimes there’s just nothing better then packing a bowl, putting your feet up and turning on something awesome to watch while you unwind from your day. This show started out as a podcast and is hosted by comedian/writer Scott Aukerman with band-leader and vocal artist Reggie Watts. It’s like a late night talk show with every episode featuring a guest comedian on the couch. If you haven’t seen Archer yet, now is your chance. A 13-part television series produced in 1978 and presented by Carl Sagan.

An animated show with H. Jon Benjamin voicing as Bob. A truly underrated television series that Netflix actually picked up so they could air their fourth season. Set in Newport Beach, California, the show centers around the dysfunctional, spoiled Bluth family who insist on living extravagant lifestyles despite the fact they are now broke; and the one son trying to keep them together.

In a long mea culpa and apparently equally long documentary to come on Sunday, CNN’s chief medical correspondent – Doctor Sanjay Gupta – says he was part of misleading the public about the evils of marijuana. What he doesn’t say, at least not overtly, is what the social remedy should be. Gupta responds that he tried cannabis and doesn’t see marijuana as in the same camp as cocaine or alcohol when it comes to addiction but again doesn’t say what the social remedy should be. I didn’t review papers from smaller labs in other countries doing some remarkable research, and I was too dismissive of the loud chorus of legitimate patients whose symptoms improved on cannabis. He doesn’t then say: These are the reasons I would vote yes on pot.

Another interesting suggestion he makes in the article is that the DEA didn’t have the science to make marijuana out to be such a dreaded drug. I mistakenly believed the Drug Enforcement Agency listed marijuana as a schedule 1 substance because of sound scientific proof. They didn’t have the science to support that claim, and I now know that when it comes to marijuana neither of those things are true. I’ll look for clarification from the good doctor, but I imagine getting an email through to him will take some time.

Eddie Griffin backs up Colorado legalizing Marijuana | Eddie Griffin News #9

Weed is not your typical marijuana documentary, and that is exactly why it is worth checking out. It was made by Dr. Sanjay Gupta, as a special report for CNN. The fact that CNN covered the topic of weed is in and of itself groundbreaking, and shows how attitudes have started to change regarding using weed. In the documentary, Dr.

Gupta meets with several different medical marijuana patients, exploring how weed helps them to feel better. It also looks at how difficult it is for these patients to receive the medicine they need, and how this is a result of the War on Drugs. Beyond this, Dr. Gupta also explains some of the impact that marijuana has on the brain and how usage differs between regular smokers and those who are new to smoking. This is one of the newest, most credible, and best documentaries on the medical necessity of marijuana, and one worth checking out now.

As marijuana use and legalization becomes more mainstream, we will see more and more information and misinformation arise about marijuana use. It can be hard to get a clear viewpoint on the research, the facts, and the myths. The films above are the best marijuana documentaries because take us through the process of understanding the history, the benefits, the medicine and the legality behind marijuana use, and are a great place to start to start exploring.

CACHEXIA & WASTING TREATMENT AND SYMPTOMS

Limit necessary food intake because of nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. Hormonal and metabolic problems in protein synthesis and growth. Wasting patient response to standard pharmaceutical treatments and strategies is remarkably poor. Medical Marijuana, on the other hand is rapidly gaining a reputation as being, by far the best treatment available for Cachexia. Some of the most commonly prescribed drugs are, in fact synthetically derived THC.

However, most experienced Doctors find that natural MMJ with a balanced Cannabinoid profiles work substantially better than synthetic isolates. Through personal choice, trial and error – patient’s agree with researchers and pick organic herb over synthetics, hands down. Growth Hormone and Steroids: Go to a medical doctor experienced in sports medicine. Margaret Haney, PhD, Associate Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at Columbia University found that the effects of synthetic and herbal marijuana were comparable. In a clinical setting, patient’s appetite improved, gained weight and slept better in comparison with placebo.

We provide patients with the legal paperwork so they may use, possess and grow Medical Cannabis in the State of California. You fill out a form, type in personal info and brief medical history – takes a few minutes. A doctor is on standby to evaluate your application – is completed same day.

When you light it up you sometimes need a good show to watch. The 1970’s means references to classic rock, bell bottoms and wacky tabacky. You’ll love the POV camera angle of Hyde, Fez, Kelso, Foreman, or Leo passing it on the left hand side. Plus, watching Ashton Kutcher or Wilmer Valderrama playing Kelso and Fex respectively is comedic genius. Make sure to watch every fifteen minute episode of this psychedelic-hippie-art-fest-meets-Tom-and-Jerry-type cartoonage.

Comedians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim take deadpan jokes verging on the bizarre, combine them with celebrity guest appearances and cheesy video effects and it equals one winner of a show for anybody stoned out of their gourd. It doesn’t need a description due to its popularity, but here we go. The main character, Peter Griffin, recites tasteless jokes for a half-hour and if you don’t laugh you really need to change your ‘tude, dude. Dave Chappelle made a movie called Half Baked of course, he makes the list. The three main characters of this show hail from Canada and live in a trailer park.

The show is so popular they’ve appeared on the cover of High Times as well as making a guest appearance on the GGN Network, Snoop Dogg’s internet channel/stoner show! Anyway, the show will just make you laugh you rear end off. This awesome show has been around for years and is loved by everyone.

Alcohol and Drugs: Untimely Celebrity Deaths

The tragic loss of a renowned celebrity or athlete to a drug or alcohol-related death is an event that often leaves many unanswered questions. Famous and much-loved celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Heath Ledger have been the victims of such unfortunate circumstances. While many deaths may be due to misuse of illegal substances, these drugs are not always illicit – and an overdose may not always be intentional. Death due to drugs can also be the result of mixing prescribed medications with other drugs, alcohol, over-the-counter medications or even herbal supplements. Drug-drug interactions may also play a role in drug-related deaths.

The consumption of multiple central nervous system depressants, such as opioid pain killers, sedatives, hypnotics, or alcohol may lead to an unintentional overdose due to severely depressed breathing. Mixing illicit, prescription or over-the-counter medications can be dangerous, and patients should always rule out drug interactions with their healthcare provider. The use of prescription medications with illegal drugs or alcohol can produce an unpredictable and fatal response, and many deaths due to such circumstances may have been preventable. The following table outlines the death of notable celebrities and athletes who have had drugs or alcohol implicated in their deaths.

5 Best Pot Podcasts

Pot Podcasts are nothing new, but with the increasing media dominance of Netflix and other on-demand video services, the medium is enjoying a resurgence of popularity. We started a podcast called High Holidaze. That process may sound pretty casual, but that’s the amazing thing about podcasts – anybody can make one with little more than an idea, a microphone and a wifi connection. Our audience is practically microscopic, and if you decide to start a podcast yours will be too, at least at the start. There’s something more intimate and captivating about the listening experience of a podcast that lends itself perfectly to deeper storytelling.

We’re just one in a growing number of cannabis-related podcasts that have popped up on iTunes, Stitcher and other podcast platforms over the last few years. In the meantime, here are five of the best podcasts contributing to the growing marijuana media landscape. The Hash is a pot podcast for fans of Radiolab, 99 Percent Invisible, and the like: It hits on all the newsworthy topics but does so with a wonderful attention to sonic detail. Led by the Denver Post’s marijuana editor, Ricardo Baca, The Cannabist’s pot podcast walks the fine line between news and humor. His show on the Cannabis Radio podcast network delves deep into the minutiae of marijuana policy and features plenty of his famous rants.

It’s been more than two years since Tommy Chong and his son Paris released an episode of their podcast, but it’s worth digging through their archives. The best part of this particular podcast isn’t Benson himself, but the celebrities who get stoned for the sake of his show.

Essay by Ccampbell9420

It seemed as though a slight haze accumulated over nation’s capital after President Obama released his newest presidential proclamation. Effective immediately it is Legal for anyone of any age to recreationally smoke marijuana. Of course this announcement was met with criticism, but the president has presented some additional statements to support his revolutionary decision. The president and his staff have added one clause to this proclamation, 55% of all marijuana will be imported from the drug cartels of Mexico in an effort to solve the overwhelming immigration problems this country faces. Many people see no correlation between marijuana and immigration but it is believed funding of the drug cartel will increase their power in southern countries.

It is also a well know fact the president is concerned with the nation’s educational system, evident by his No Child Left Behind Initiative. The president has a concern that kindergarten class rooms are often much to rambunctious. To solve this, he plans to introduce marijuana to all public schools in a effort to mellow out these younger students. When the students have achieved a calm sate they will be more open to learning. Along with improvements to the countries educational system and immigration policies, the president anticipates the legal sale of marijuana will boost the economy.

Rather then shady drug deals, your local drug dealer on the corner can now accept credit cards, personal checks, and EBT cards. This sale will be taxable by both the state and federal government in an effort to reduce the counties debt as we approach the fiscal cliff.

Blue Dream: Marijuana Strain Information, History & Facts

Everybody else in the United States seems to be getting in on the reefer madness, so we’ve decided to do the same by introducing a new franchise: Weed Strain of the Week. When I think of weed strains, the first thing that comes to mind is the 2008 stoner comedy classic Pineapple Express. In one of the earliest scenes of the movie, Saul explains to Dale how fire his newest strain of marijuana – Pineapple Express – is by only referring to previous strains that Dale had smoked. Now that legal marijuana and dispensaries exist, actual marijuana strains are more prevalent than ever, so we figured it’s time we start learning them all, one by one. Blue Dream, a sativa-dominant hybrid originating in California, has achieved legendary status among West Coast strains.

Crossing a Blueberry indica with the sativa Haze, Blue Dream balances full-body relaxation with gentle cerebral invigoration. Novice and veteran consumers alike enjoy the level effects of Blue Dream, which ease you gently into a calm euphoria. Some Blue Dream phenotypes express a more indica-like look and feel, but the sativa-leaning variety remains most prevalent. With a sweet berry aroma redolent of its Blueberry parent, Blue Dream delivers swift symptom relief without heavy sedative effects. This makes Blue Dream a popular daytime medicine for patients treating pain, depression, nausea, and other ailments requiring a high THC strain.

Blue Dream, also known as Blueberry Haze, is a sativa-dominant hybrid strain of Cannabis. Blue Dream is a cross between the Blueberry and Haze strains, and was created around 2003 in Santa Cruz, California.

Matt’s Guide to Tuesday Night TV: New and Returning Shows

Continuing a weeklong series of new-season analysis and previews, here’s my take on how I see the new Tuesday lineups playing out. Tuesday in a Nutshell: The no-brainer: CBS will continue to rule with its NCIS-NCIS: LA combo, and the new procedural-with-a-twist Unforgettable should fit right in, possibly putting a dent in ABC’s midseason surprise Body of Proof, which roughly targets the same audience for female-driven crime dramas. Fox should make significant inroads with the younger demos, especially if Glee gets back its groove in this transitional graduation season. The delightful New Girl deserves to break out, and may bolster the fortunes of my favorite comedy from last season, Raising Hope. On NBC, The Biggest Loser provides stability if not much excitement, while Parenthood hopes to hold on to its small but devoted following.

Watching these guys, including Max Greenfield’s hilariously douchey wannabe ladies’ man, rally to her cause is undeniably sweet. The upside: She’s uncannily perceptive at crime scenes, and we often see her step outside her body to replay events from her mind’s eye. A Returning Favorite: Of tonight’s many season openers, only Fox’s Raising Hope was available for preview, and it’s a treat for anyone who loves a good call-back to classic sitcoms. The baby is older this season, but no less adorable. NCIS: LA picks up season three with the team seeking a wounded Hetty in Romania.

A new school year begins on Glee, while Sue kicks off her congressional campaign. Comedy Central’s Tosh.0 returns with Daniel doing his thing on the Arizona State University campus.

DA to streamline review of felony marijuana convictions for dismissal

After clearing hundreds of misdemeanor marijuana convictions, District Attorney George Gascon has a new tool that will automate the labor-intensive process for reviewing thousands of felony convictions for possible dismissal. In an announcement Tuesday morning, Gascon said the computer program will automatically determine whether nearly 5,000 felony marijuana convictions in San Francisco are eligible for dismissal or reduced sentencing and, if so, generate paperwork for the District Attorney’s Office to file with the court. Gascon’s office has cleared 428 misdemeanor marijuana convictions since January, when the district attorney began retroactively applying California’s new cannabis legalization laws under Proposition 64 to old cannabis cases. 64 legalized recreational cannabis for adults over the age of 21 and also allowed people convicted of marijuana-related misdemeanors and felonies to petition their cases for dismissal or reduction to a lesser offense. Rather than have individuals petition the court on their own, Gascon directed his office in January to review all 3,038 misdemeanor and 4,390 felony convictions in San Francisco dating back to 1975. As of Monday, the San Francisco Superior Court has granted 428 of the 528 motions to dismiss misdemeanor marijuana convictions that the District Attorney’s Office has filed since January.

The process for reviewing felony cases is more labor intensive, since prosecutors have to analyze criminal histories to determine whether a case can be dismissed or reduced under state law. The effort is also meant to remedy the disproportionate impacts of the war on drugs on people of color in San Francisco, where researchers have found that black people remain more than twice as likely to be arrested on suspicion of a drug offense than elsewhere in California. A recent study from the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice shows that black people were not only 2.4 times more likely to be arrested on a drug offense in San Francisco than in California in 2016, but 10 times more likely to be the subject of a drug arrest in The City than residents of other races. The disparities persisted even as the number of drug arrests in San Francisco plummeted by 92 percent over the last three decades, from 29,200 in 1988-89 to just 2,414 in 2015-16. Code for America plans to partner with three to five other California counties in addition to San Francisco, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

The group aims to clear 250,000 convictions by 2019.

Since the first statewide medical marijuana laws went into effect in California in 1996, the number of Americans with legal access to what for many is a pleasurable drug has been steadily growing. As a Schedule I drug, under federal law, marijuana is considered to have no medical use, although there are thousands of patient testimonials to the contrary. Today, in states with the most liberal marijuana laws, citizens’ access to the drug now resembles that of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, before the first attempts at federal regulation. Changes in federal drug policy during the Nixon administration loosened penalties for some kinds of drug violations, while expanding the powers of law enforcement and reshaping the federal anti-drug agencies to be more directly responsive to White House control. In 1970, Congress passed the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act, which placed marijuana in the most restrictive category of drugs having no permissible use in medical practice.

The scheduling of marijuana was suggested by an Assistant Secretary of Health pending the report from a Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse, headed by a former governor of Pennsylvania Raymond Shafer with members appointed by the president, speaker of the House, and the president pro tem of the Senate. As Carter pointed out in a message to Congress in 1977, anti-marijuana laws cause more harm to marijuana users than the drug itself. Ronald Reagan had opposed decriminalization of marijuana as governor of California and, as president, showed no sympathy for drug use or users. Drugs were drugs, albeit federal sentencing guidelines made some drugs much worse. The Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, which brought police into schools to lecture against drugs, was also founded during this period, as were clubs in many schools that enticed pupils to sign anti-drug pledges.

Concern over drug use appeared to peak in September the following year, when 64 percent of respondents in a New York Times/CBS News poll identified drugs as the single most pressing issue facing the nation, not long after Bush gave an Oval Office speech on the subject. Following the anti-drug campaigns of recent years, it is fascinating to note that today’s liberalization efforts have largely succeeded not by trying to shift attitudes about drugs, but by redefining marijuana as medicine and by focusing on the economic and social costs of the incarceration that has resulted from drug laws.

Back to the Movies

Marijuana and the movies have had a long, mostly potent relationship. Cannabis has inspired any number of cinematic artists, and it’s important to note how public perception of pot has changed throughout the years, with evolving laws and a recent explosion of smoker-friendly content. Marijuana has been used in an erudite fashion by filmmakers, woven into the narrative like a character in Curtis Hanson’s masterpiece Wonder Boys, the iconic Coen brothers sensation The Big Lebowski, and the underrated Leaves of Grass. Oliver Stone’s entire cannon feels especially indebted to ganja, as does Terry Gilliam’s psychotropic adaptation of Hunter Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Self-professed cannabis enthusiast Robert Altman left a misty haze over much of his work, most notably The Long Goodbye, California Split, and M*A*S*H, while his protégé, Paul Thomas Anderson, crafted a pot-infused ode to private eye cinema with Inherent Vice.

F. Gary Gray’s sly, smart, and hilarious pot comedy Friday still stands as one of the most influential cannabis narratives. The Seth Rogen/Judd Apatow connection has helped to legitimize marijuana to the masses, with box-office hits Pineapple Express and Knocked Up majorly emphasizing marijuana, treating it like a character as much as any of the leading actors. Musical biopic spoof Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story has some hilarious moments concerning reefer, the two Neighbors movies nearly give off a contact high, and the meta-comedy This Is The End carried a lit-joint torch of pro-pot components. Let’s not forget Danny McBride getting stoned with some sheep in Your Highness, which shared the skunky whiffs of 80’s cult-classics Krull and The Beastmaster.

High school comedies have consistently thrown marijuana into the equation, with Amy Heckerling’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused standing as cultural touchstones. Nearly all of Kevin Smith’s films seem to have been born out of a cloud of bong smoke, with the Jay and Silent Bob characters feeling like zeitgeist-tapping creations of cannabis-happy comedy. Greg Araki’s Smiley Face with Anna Faris is one of the more perceptive and giggle-inducing movies to feature a stoner at its center, while Jonathan Levine’s unique 90’s time capsule The Wackness painted a portrait of people’s lives fully dictated by marijuana, and how it can be used both for good and bad. Written by Nick Clement.

Pineapple Express

Lazy court-process clerk and stoner Dale Denton has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. When Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city’s most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him-and it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they’re not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia: incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. See more Motion Picture Rating Rated R for pervasive language, drug use, sexual references and violence.

Canada legalizes recreational use of Marijuana

Residents of Canada will be able to use marijuana without the worry of law enforcement, as the country’s senate has passed a bill legalizing the recreational use of the drug. Canada becomes the second country to legalize the drug nationwide, following Uruguay in 2013. The country’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that people will be able to use the drug legally come October 17.It’s been too easy for our kids to get marijuana – and for criminals to reap the profits. Our plan to legalize & regulate marijuana just passed the Senate. According to ABC News, the legislation allows for people over the age of 18 to carry and use up to 30 grams of dried cannabis in public.

It also allows for residents to cultivate up to four cannabis plants at home, with dried cannabis and cannabis oil set to go on sale later this year.

Corey Feldman charged with marijuana possession in Louisiana

MANGHAM, La. – Police in Louisiana say actor and musician Corey Feldman has been charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license after his tour bus was pulled over for speeding over the weekend. Mangham, Louisiana, police say they pulled over a recreational vehicle driven by Feldman on Saturday and took him to a police station after discovering his license was suspended. Police say an officer at the station smelled marijuana and the drug was found in the RV following a search. Police say Feldman was released after paying a fine. Feldman says on Twitter Sunday he had no marijuana on him and faced a charge only because it was his vehicle.

He says a member of his crew had medicinal marijuana. The 46-year-old former child actor now tours with his band, Corey Feldman & The Angels.

Recreational marijuana may soon be legal in Canada, after both the House of Commons and the Senate approved the Cannabis Act. Legal sales are likely to begin before the end of summer after the Senate voted 52-29 Tuesday night to approve the bill, the CBC reports. Those points were echoed by Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last fall, when he welcomed the news that the bill was making its way to the Senate.
