DISJOINTED Official Trailer (HD) Kathy Bates Netflix Marijuana Sitcom

Netflix Marijuana Strains Used to Market Comedy That’s All Smoke and No Fire

If you regularly keep up on weed news, you’ve probably heard a bit about the new Netflix marijuana strains that were available last weekend as part of a promotion for their original comedy series Disjointed. While it’s always a welcome opportunity when a show attempts to normalize the use of weed, Disjointed may not be the best example of this, sadly. If thousands of personalized Instagram photos of people excitedly or nervously standing in front of a haunted house can reach horror fans, it stands to reason that Netflix is considering stoners a target audience for their marijuana-centric show by offering limited edition official Netflix marijuana strains. Three strains tie directly into Disjointed while other Netflix marijuana strains reference additional original programming such as Arrested Development and Orange is the New Black. The strains were available at West Hollywood’s Alternative Health Herbal Services over the weekend and Netflix received no profit from their sale, meaning their stake in this was purely promotional.

The creative minds behind the marketing for Disjointed weren’t paralleled by the show’s writers. With this kind of lazy humor on a show set in a medical marijuana dispensary, you can probably guess how they handle stoner humor. It’s here that the idea to market official Netflix marijuana strains may have skipped a beat. The show is interrupted by fake commercials for marijuana products and bizarre segues that almost echo That ’70s Show. Not exactly the kind of jokes you’d hope for from a show about a marijuana dispensary in 2017.

I recognize that Disjointed is a comedy show but its premise tackles some volatile situations, and placing the show in a unique position to actually broadcast a certain reputation for medical marijuana. Shows like Broad City, Six Feet Under and even Legends of Tomorrow seem to do more by showing regular people smoking weed and functioning normally in the greater plot of things.

Legal marijuana: Fresno City Council passes ban on pot businesses

Retail marijuana dispensaries and other businesses related to recreational use of marijuana will be barred from setting up shop in Fresno after the City Council voted 4-3 Thursday to prohibit such establishments. Councilmen Bredefeld, Steve Brandau, Paul Caprioglio and Luis Chavez voted for the commercial prohibition, while Council President Clint Olivier and council members Esmeralda Soria and Oliver Baines voted no. The code amendment still must return to the City Council for a second reading and final approval, most likely at the council’s Sept. 21 meeting. Testing labs in industrial areas of the city would be allowed, provided that marijuana testing represents 20 percent or less of their business. Prior to Thursday’s vote on the ban, the council approved a proposal by Olivier to seek a consultant to help the city study issues related to marijuana and Proposition 64.

While the council approved the search for a consultant, a majority of the members also favored moving forward with a ban now. Caprioglio said the council has the freedom to modify its actions depending on what a consultant may recommend in the coming months. Public comments were cut short just before noon so the council could vote before several members had to leave for already-scheduled lunch meetings. Brand reminded the council and the audience that the ban only deals with recreational uses of marijuana. Existing city laws prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries – a subject of many of the comments from the public in recent weeks.

A Fresno ordinance to cap at six the number of plants that can be cultivated for personal use, and regulate where and how marijuana can be grown by residents, was initially approved in June but has yet to clear a final vote. The second reading of that ordinance, also backed by Bredefeld, has been beset by delays, including infighting among council members.

[BOT] OPINION: Marijuana-friendly campuses? I don’t think so aE&

The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee of Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia unanimously voted on March 5, 2018 to ban all smoking of marijuana products on campus – for health and safety reasons. In the run-up to the legalization of recreational marijuana in Canada on Oct. 17, 2018, many universities and colleges are still in a wait-and-see position concerning marijuana use on campus. TRU’s 20-person Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, of which I am a member, unanimously voted on March 5, 2018, to ban all smoking of marijuana products on campus – for health and safety reasons. Pro-marijuana smokers on the TRU committee argued that marijuana smoke is no different than cigarette smoke and that smoking areas designated for cigarette smoke should also be used for marijuana. Naive bystanders cannot tell the potency of the marijuana smoked just by smell alone.

Most animal studies demonstrate the ease with which such second- hand marijuana smoke can negatively affect behaviour. Very few know that marijuana smoke has 300 to 500 per cent more carcinogens than tobacco smoke. The JOHSC at Thompson Rivers University is considering individual ingestion of medical marijuana – via brownies, gummy bears or pills – on campus because the consumption of such medicinal products doesn’t negatively impact others directly. Marijuana is an intoxicant and therefore is analogous to drinking alcohol on campus. Smoking marijuana should therefore fall under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act Section 40, 1996, chapter 267.

As TRU did not allow the open consumption of alcohol in public places on campus, neither would it allow marijuana to be smoked on campus. Brandon Bartelds smokes three joints at once while attending the 4-20 annual marijuana celebration, in Vancouver, B.C., on April 20, 2018.

Editorial: Correct call on marijuana

The decision isn’t without controversy, but city council was wise to ban the use of marijuana in public places. When the federal government legalizes cannabis later this summer, Calgarians won’t be able to smoke, vape or eat products made with the substance in public spaces, unless they’re a medical marijuana user. That’s led critics of the decision to complain that people who live in multi-family dwellings may not be able to use the drug. Evan Woolley said when the restriction was being discussed by council. Council is simply treating marijuana like we treat tobacco and liquor.

Presumably, the people who won’t be able to smoke pot in their units, are already prevented from lighting up a cigarette indoors – just as they’re prevented from doing so in parks and other public areas. The ban on using marijuana in public is also justified because of its distinct, skunky smell. Public consumption is prohibited in all nine American states where cannabis is legal, including Colorado, California and Nevada. City council has instructed staff to explore the creation of designated cannabis smoking areas, so there’s still the possibility Calgarians who can’t use the drug indoors will have a place to light up in the future. Medical officer of health Dr.

Brent Friesen made a good point when he said the bylaw should not stigmatize users, but it shouldn’t normalize marijuana use either. The doctor said it is essential not to create an environment where young people see adults smoking and vaping marijuana, thinking that it is the customary thing to do. Council made the right call in banning pot smoking in public.

NY Times find that marijuana arrests are heavily tilted toward blacks, Latinos

Even though marijuana is slowly being decriminalized around the country, in New York City, it’s still illegal and people are still getting arrested and booked by the dozen. More often than not, the people getting locked up tend to be Black and brown. The New York Times has found that while there have been changes in policy on weed, the easiest way to be arrested for marijuana possession is to be either Black or Latino. While this may not be shocking to generations of black and brown people, the number found by The Times bear out a stark reality. It is especially glaring when you look at how the arrest rates for marijuana possession differs depending on the section of New York City.

In Queens, the marijuana arrest rate is more than 10 times as high in the precinct covering Queens Village as it is in precinct that serves Forest Hills. Queens Village just over half black, while Forest Hills has a tiny portion of black residents. In Manhattan, Black people were arrested at 15 times the rate of white people. In Brooklyn, officers in Canarsie, which is 85 percent Black, arrested people at a rate more than four times as high as in the precinct that includes Greenpoint-4 percent Black-despite residents calling to complain about marijuana at the same rate, police data show. Black neighborhoods traditionally have more officers, even as crime in New York City has gone down.

What makes the marijuana arrests and disparities so troubling is that police are legally able to stop and search a person spotted smoking marijuana and check for open warrants, which is speculated to be the real reason for these arrests.

Ending Marijuana Hypocrisy: The Many Benefits for Black America

If passed, the legislation would remove marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act, while also denying federal funds to those states maintaining cannabis criminalization. There are many reasons Black America should support this legislation, including the obvious one: it will remove one racially-applied law police use to criminalize Blacks. Bernie Sanders’ endorsement comes at a time when several high-profile Democrats have voiced their support for marijuana decriminalization. On Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced plans to introduce far-reaching marijuana legislation. Other Democrats pledging support for marijuana legalization are: Sen.

Kirsten Gillibrand, Sen. Ron Wyden and presumed presidential candidate California Senator Kamala Harris. Senator Booker, who championed this legislation, has pointed out the contradictions with marijuana criminalization as it relates to Whites, especially of privileged, and Black people. Senator Booker’s claims are backed by statistical evidence. Booker also pointed to politicians, including presidents and congressional leaders, who’ve admitted using marijuana.

TV comedy sketch went too far with scene of girl and stripper pole, council rules

A French-language television comedy program that depicted a man leering at a girl dancing around a pole violated Canada’s broadcast regulations, according to a recent ruling. The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council found that scenes in the same episode of marijuana use and an elderly man wearing lingerie and a strap-on dildo did not cross the line. Les Beaux Malaises, which aired on the Quebec-based TVA network from 2014 until early this year, focused on the daily life of comedian Martin Matte, who played a fictional version of himself. The final episode of the series, titled La Grande Finale, aired in January. In the last scene, all the characters who had appeared on the show come together to dance to the Rolling Stones tune Sympathy for the Devil.

Later, someone offered the couple a marijuana joint, which they took turns smoking. Broadcasters should be commended for presenting society in all its diversity. The panel similarly took no issue with the images of drug use. Where it did find fault was with the depiction of the girl. The network was ordered to publicly announce that it had breached broadcast standards.

Here Is How Marijuana Helps With Painful Menstrual Periods

There is a little known prologue to our current medical marijuana debate, a period of about one hundred years in which marijuana was a regular-if minor-player in Western pharmacology. The chapter opens in the early 19th century-the early days of scientific chemistry and the heyday of European imperialism-when Western chemists suddenly had a world’s worth of herbal remedies to study. He even contributed a paper to The Lancet on the topic cannabis and lady’s health. Lack of evidence need never impede an intrepid entrepreneur. There’s currently at least one manufacturer of CBD-smeared vaginal suppositories that claim to ease mensural cramping.

In March 2016, cannabis activist and former Federation starship cocktail-lounge hostess Whoopi Goldberg launched a line of cannabinoidal-infused bath soaks and body rubs. Definitely on the lifestyle/ aroma therapy end of the medical spectrum, they are scientifically formulated to appeal to the spa-seeking neural receptors and will probably be about as effective as, say, any other impulse buy from the Whole Foods wellness center.
