Buying Weed (Stand Up Comedy)

How the Legal Marijuana Industry Is Helping Grow Denver’s Comedy Scene

Comedians like Doug Benson and Stephen Colbert have been getting a lot of joke-mileage out of Colorado’s legalization of marijuana last January. The name is derived from Khalatbari’s chain of pizza restaurants, Sexy Pizza, one of which hosted the first Sexpot Comedy show early last year. The show has since grown and splintered into several regular events, hosted at different comedy clubs and music venues around town under the Sexpot banner. For years Denver has been a known destination for touring comics; the thirty-year-old Comedy Works has been proclaimed by performers like Dave Chappelle and Dave Attell as their favorite comedy club. Last summer, Juett and comedian Adam Cayton-Holland produced Denver’s first large-scale comedy festival, The High Plains Comedy Festival, which was headlined by Reggie Watts and ended up being a sold-out success.

It was Kayvan Khalatbari’s marijuana dispensary, Denver Relief, that initially sponsored several different comedy shows and podcasts around town, back when Sexpot was just a witty pun being tossed around. While this continues in some arenas, the Sexpot Comedy shows have been gaining a lucrative momentum of their own, in part thanks to Juett’s utilization of the local comedy radio station for marketing, as well as the throbbing enthusiasm coming from Colorado’s energized marijuana scene. There’s no getting around the fact that some cannabis consumption goes on at Sexpot shows, whether through edibles, vaporizers or straight-up smoldering joints. While some Denver comedians don’t care for a stoned audience Andy Juett – who himself has acted in many sketch videos and recently began performing standup – says that there are upsides to playing for a red-eyed crowd. Khalatbari shares Juett’s feeling that marijuana shouldn’t come to dominate the identity of Sexpot Comedy.

He’s derisive of the Cannabis Cup and 420 Festival culture that has become an unfortunate media focus of Colorado marijuana scene; and says that he is equally sick of the endless cosmos-and-munchies jokes that every hack comedian rolls out when performing in Denver. Josiah Hesse is an entertainment and pop culture journalist in Denver, Colorado whose work has appeared in Westword, Out Front Colorado, and comedy blogs LaughSpin, Splitsider and The Spit Take.

Bill Engvall – We Got The Stone Show 2018 – Best Stand Up Comedy Show Of 2018

Exploring Stand Up Comedy And Cannabis

Maybe stoners enjoy stand up comedy shows because they’re easy to locate and generally inexpensive. A stand up comedy show is the perfect place to get high and laugh along with hundreds of people. With weed-induced euphoria and laughter’s contagious nature, combining stand up comedy and cannabis makes sense. Stand up comedy routines are easy to watch, which is always a good thing when you’re too stoned to function. When you consider that many common stoner hobbies are sedentary, the connection between stand up comedy and cannabis becomes even more clear.

People consume cannabis recreationally for the same reason they watch stand up comedy: to be entertained! Stand up comedy shows allow stoners to enjoy all the benefits of having a really funny friend without having to respond/keep up with the conversation. Whether or not cannabis makes stand up comedy more enjoyable is entirely subjective. Weed is a mood enhancer that promotes laughter, and one could argue that stand up comedy does the same thing. Edibles are great for stand up shows since they last longer than other methods of cannabis consumption, and are generally stronger too.

If you take too much and really don’t want to go out in public, it’s still possible to enjoy stand up comedy and cannabis in the comfort of your own home. Just smoke a joint, press play, and decide if stand up comedy and cannabis are connected for yourself.

Elon Musk smokes marijuana live on web show

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has smoked marijuana live on the web during a podcast with comedian Joe Rogan. Mr Rogan offered his guest the drug, which is legal in California, as the pair discussed tech innovation and the public’s perception of Mr Musk. The business leader made the comments in an interview with the New York Times. His controversial plans regarding Tesla’s ownership were dropped about two weeks later. During the podcast, Mr Rogan offered Mr Musk a joint, which he said contained a mix of tobacco and marijuana – dried leaves and flowering parts of the female cannabis plant.

Of 50 US sates, recreational cannabis remains illegal in 41 – but it was legalised in California, where the podcast was filmed, in January. The pair also enjoyed whiskey during the podcast recording. During their conversation, Mr Musk talked about his health and his management of Tesla – which he said was the most challenging of his various businesses and projects. To close the podcast, Mr Musk was asked if he had any concluding remarks.

Tesla shares reel as executives quit and CEO smokes pot on webcast

Reuters) – Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk was filmed smoking marijuana and wielding a sword on a webcast, just hours before the automaker said its recently-appointed accounting chief would leave, the latest in a string of unusual behaviour and executive departures that have stunned investors. Shares of the electric carmaker tumbled more than 6 percent on Friday to $263.24, with investors on edge after a tumultuous August during which Musk proposed and then abruptly pulled the plug on a go-private deal. Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton resigned after just one month in the job because of discomfort with the attention on the company and pace of work during that time, Tesla said in a filing on Friday. Later on Friday, Tesla named a new president of automotive operations, promoting eight-year Tesla employee and former Daimler truck exec Jerome Guillen into the role overseeing all automotive operations and reporting to Musk. That move, described in a company blog with several other promotions as a result of board and management discussions, gives Musk a seasoned auto industry veteran to lean on at a time when some investors have called for a new chief operating officer. Shares barely moved after hours, when the promotions were announced.

Morton and Toledano, whose departures come shortly after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission opened an inquiry into Musk’s aborted privatisation plan, join dozens of senior executives who have left Tesla. Late on Thursday, Musk was filmed drinking whiskey, briefly smoking marijuana and wielding a Samurai sword during a 2-1/2-hour live Web show with comedian Joe Rogan that swiftly spread across social media. Analysts on Friday reiterated their call for Tesla to bring in another senior leader. SOBERING EFFECT ON INVESTORS.Tesla’s $1.8 billion junk bond maturing in August 2025 plunged as much as 4 cents on the dollar to below 82 cents, a record low, in Friday trading, pushing the yield above 8.8 percent.

Coupled with an upfront cost of 21 percent of insured value, it now costs an investor around $280,000 to insure $1 million of Tesla debt for a year. With Tesla’s stock falling to its lowest level since April, short sellers added 810,000 shares to their positions, bringing the total as of Thursday to about 32.6 million shares, according to S3 Partners, a financial technology and analytics firm. Tesla has told investors it expects to turn a profit in the second half of this year, a forecast the company’s head of investor relations, Martin Viecha, reiterated at a conference earlier this week sponsored by RBC Capital Markets, RBC analyst Joseph Spak wrote in a note on Thursday.

7 Comedians Who Enjoy Marijuana

Although weed can definitely highlight what’s weird about your surrounding or amplify already-comedic situations, it can’t instill a fully-developed sense of humor. Doug Benson’s comedy career revolves almost entirely around his love of cannabis. Benson created the 2008 documentary Super High Me, a druggy take on Morgan Spurlock’s McDonald’s exposé Super Size Me, in which Benson smokes weed in huge quantities every day for a month. Like a trippy version of Mike Nichols and Elaine May, collaborators Kate Berlant and John Early showcase a weird brand of character-based comedy in seemingly improvised skits like Family Dinner and Reunion. Berlant and Early’s deadpan comedy is deeply rooted in the same pseudo-intellectual and fame-obsessed millennial culture that it satirizes, making for an especially meta comedy experience.

Each of the two wrote and starred in full episodes of the 2016 Netflix original comedy The Characters – Early’s episode totally nails some cringe-worthy identities like a self-absorbed yuppie party host and a sassy but depressed Christian comedienne. Dave Chappelle staked a claim to stoner fandom early on in his career, having written, produced, and starred in the 1998 cannabis classic Half Baked. Chappelle briefly bowed out of the spotlight after Chappelle’s Show was canceled in 2006 and now lives a low-key life with his family in suburban Ohio. A recent GQ interview with Chappelle yields some other great nuggets: he may have bought weed from Idris Elba back in the day, and once requested permission to smoke weed onstage from crack-smoking Toronto mayor Rob Ford. Jason Segel doesn’t just play a cannabis enthusiast on TV.

He’s well known for his love of weed, and has made a name for himself as a leading man in comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Jeff, Who Lives At Home, blending bumbling antics with undeniable sincerity. George Carlin is one of the first and arguably best full-fledged observational comedians. Carlin’s countercultural humor was at least partially fueled by cannabis: in a retrospective interview with Jon Stewart, he claimed to.

Rick and Morty’s Cannabis Subculture Warps Into Los Angeles

Trip out and chill in the Meatwad 4D Dome, or dive into a virtual-reality experience inspired by Dream Corp LLC, the Adult Swim show set in a sketchy dream-therapy facility. At 9 p.m. on Sunday, October 7th, Rick and Morty get a live showcase as composer Ryan Elder leads a 37-piece orchestra through musical highlights from the show in a Musical Ricksperience. As we prepare to run around at the Adult Swim Festival, we asked ourselves: why is there such a solid Rick and Morty. Just as cannabis helps connect us to the present moment, and enjoy things as they unfold, Rick and Morty deems friends, family, and doing what we love much more important than unanswerable questions about why we’re here in the first place.

Take the McDonald’s Szechuan sauce debacle, for instance. Twitter had a meltdown, and everyone had a good time making fun of Rick and Morty. Fan art is one of the most wonderful interpretative things in the world, and the weed-loving creatives who watch Rick and Morty have left no artistic pickle unjarred. To the fan art pot-culture pantheon with his collection of joints in the shape of Rick, Morty, and iconic characters Mr. Meeseeks and Mr.

Poopybutthole. To pairing a different strain of cannabis with each episode of the show. If you think your love of a TV show makes you better or smarter than other people, you should smoke a joint, and think about how you’re missing the point. Tickets to the Adult Swim Festival Oct. 5-7 are available here. The festival does not permit medical or recreational cannabis onsite.

Legalize Marijuana 420 – Keith Lowell Jensen Stand-Up Comedy

High times: why TV is getting blazed on cannabis comedies

For years, marijuana was portrayed as either an evil gateway drug or as a prop to signify that the character using it was a hopeless, lazy slacker. While drug use on TV is not regulated by FCC rules, there are certain moral guidelines that networks were obliged to uphold, at least before 10pm. When the counter culture movement was thoroughly under way, the small screen dealt with it in one of three ways: ignoring it altogether, actively preaching against it or portraying it slyly, as exemplified by Scooby Doo’s perma-stoned heroes, Shaggy and Scooby, who made their TV debut long before Cheech and Chong showed up in the 70s. By the 1980s Miami Vice was tackling drugs and Nancy Reagan was making a bizarre cameo in Diff’rent Strokes to promote the Just Say No campaign. For a long time any show that wanted to be positive about the issue had to side-step it, like That 70s Show, where the characters got stoned without a single spliff being seen on screen.

As attitudes towards weed soften and with it being decriminalized – if not quite legalized – in many more US states, the depiction of marijuana on TV is changing. Now we see characters using it in the same way that you’d previously show characters having a drink; it’s a recreational activity that doesn’t have any moralizing attached to it. Characters in Girls, Broad City, Mr Robot and more smoke, without it leading to a worthy storyline about addiction or a descent into crime. HBO has set the bar high by turning web series High Maintenance into a hit show this month. Each episode tells a different story, featuring different characters, all linked by the unnamed man who delivers their weed.

The characters all smoke, but that’s not the main focus. The show is brilliantly unexpected – the first episode provides a wonderful subversion of the friendship between a gay man and a straight woman – but the weed is simply a device to explore these disparate characters. Netflix has also gotten in on the trend, ordering 20 episodes of Chuck Lorre’s Disjointed, a comedy starring Kathy Bates as the owner of an LA-based cannabis dispensary, and Kevin Smith, a man who knows a thing or two about writing stoner characters, has filmed a spec pilot about a weed dispensary in LA. Even NBC has been considering a weed show, with Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott’s Buds, a comedy set in a marijuana shop in Denver. Not all drugs are getting the comedy treatment – heroin and meth are still the reserve of heavy-going dramas – but TV producers have clearly loosened up when it comes to cannabis.

Elon Musk smokes weed, sips whiskey on a comedy show

Elon Musk sipped whiskey and smoked marijuana during a 2 1/2-hour podcast with California comedian Joe Rogan that touched upon everything from flame throwers and artificial intelligence to the end of the universe. Musk, 47, took one drag from what Rogan described as a joint containing tobacco mixed with marijuana, which is legal in California. A Tesla spokesperson in Germany wasn’t immediately available to comment. The spot on one of the most popular podcasts in the US marks Musk’s first appearance in a public forum since he stunned the financial world last month with his short-lived effort to take Tesla private. Along the way, Musk drew a subpoena from the Securities and Exchange Commission, which already had been scrutinizing the public pronouncements he’s made regarding manufacturing goals and sales targets.

Tesla and its CEO are now also facing a litany of lawsuits claiming market manipulation, including one filed Thursday by Andrew Left, the founder of Citron Research and prominent short seller. The episode also raised concern about Musk’s health. The bewildering incidents have played out during a critical period for Tesla. The Palo Alto, California-based company faces concerns about its limited cash balance, maturing debt and struggle to steadily build high volumes of the Model 3 sedan, the first electric vehicle that Musk has attempted to mass-manufacture. Musk told Rogan that running Tesla is the hardest of his several endeavors.

Musk is also the founder of the tunneling startup Boring Co., plus Neuralink, which is developing brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers. Neuralink may have something interesting to announce in a few months, Musk told Rogan.

The Cosby Show: Clair finds Marijuana in Theo’s book (Part1)

Chapter 4, Verse 20: Stand-up Comedian ‘Valley Jesus’ Experiences a Marijuana Epiphany

Talmo got started in comedy when he moved to Los Angeles in 2010. Looking at Talmo, you’d think one of two things – this guy definitely looks like Jesus and this dude has got to be a stoner. Even though Talmo was around weed in the L.A. comedy scene, he always stuck to booze. Until recently, you could go to the Valley and there’d be a strong a chance that you’d find Talmo performing, running a show or hosting a mic – and always with a drink in his hand.

Comedy as Talmo knew it came to a screeching halt when he became ill and was diagnosed with cancer on Friday the 13th – April 13, 2018. Later Talmo chalked it up to his bad diet and thought changing his eating habits would help. Prior to this, Talmo’s attitude toward marijuana had slowly been softening over the years. His doctor also said that he wanted Talmo to get immediate relief from marijuana that wouldn’t be possible with typical antidepressants, which take weeks or sometimes months to kick in. Talmo said the depression that comes from cancer and chemo is the darkest he’s ever experienced in his life, and weed has been the only thing to help him get through the day.

Talmo said he now sees weed as a healthful alternative to drinking, particularly as he realized that with weed, he wasn’t going to end up with terrible hangovers and alcohol’s negative long-term effects. Talmo plans to make a book out of this experience from the beginning of his journey up until when his doctor tells him that he’s cancer-free. Talmo’s goal is to have it completed by the time he goes into remission to signify the end of a chapter.

Comedian Dan Soder On How ‘Budtenders’ Are Like Weed’s Evil Mixologists

We’re featuring Q&As from our recent Food Republic Interview Lounge at the W Austin during the Austin Food & Wine Festival and Moontower Comedy Festival, including video excerpts of the sessions with host Richard Martin. Next up, Dan Soder, a stand-up comedian who’s a regular on MTV’s The Guy Code, Conan and other fine comedy resources. Well you know, like Aziz Ansari and other – That’s that fancy, high-falutin’ tuxedo comedy. Well one of the things I wanted to ask you about is, while you don’t have to be totally into the whole food thing, it’s kind of a funny premise to talk about dating and restaurants. Well I think that’s the most decent place to take a person if you’re trying to mash privates.

It’s not what you order, it’s how you treat the waiter. These are all things your mother should have taught you. I mean life on the road is – everyone thinks it’s – it’s not glamorous! So I’ve watched it go from me having to buy weed in a Taco Bell parking lot to being able to walk into a store. It’s kind of intense – Well you’re into food.

Would that be a thing for you, if someone was like – we’ve got a cilantro, weed-infused aioli. The next thing I know You’re crying in your hotel bathroom, wondering why you’re dad didn’t hug you enough.

Margaret Zhao is a self-healing comedy survivor-and funny. By Paul Kilduff

Even for the toughest cookie, the challenge Margaret Zhao faced, China’s Cultural Revolution of 1966, seemed overwhelming. Because her family had been business owners during the communist takeover of China after WWII, they lost everything and were forced to work as farmers. After moving to Orange County in 1989 and working as a teacher of tai chi and other healing arts, Zhao discovered she had a knack for stand-up comedy. Now living in Pleasanton, Zhao does comedy gigs and also holds a free weekly class on self-healing at the Life Renewing Center in Pleasanton. Margaret Zhao: I was officially discriminated against by the schools, by the teachers, and by the society as an outcast.

After the elimination of classification, my family became equal. Only 6 percent of the students could be accepted that year because China was just beginning to be equal. Very few people, even family members, knew that I was marrying a foreigner. I said, ‘Wow, I’m very funny at what I say. ‘ So then people start to realize I was really funny. I said, ‘I’m told I’m really funny; I would like to see if I can do stand-up comedy.

I’m a teacher of healing art, and it’s really powerful, and also it’s very simple.

John Cleese caught talking about ‘marijuana caravans’ live on GMB

Monty Python actor John Cleese was caught in the act on live TV this morning. It all unfolded during John’s interview with hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Ben Shephard, who tried to start their segment but the actor was completely unaware they had returned from the advert break and were live on-air. John completely missed the cue and is heard saying: ‘There’s this extraordinary caravan which is powered almost entirely by marijuana or something. In the midst of uneasy laughter, Ben joked: ‘That’s how we should start an interview at all times. Realising what had happened, John suddenly broke into an awkward smile and swivelled around in his chair, almost like a school kid who’d been caught talking about something naughty.

Seriously, we need to know more about those marijuana caravans, John. Reacting to John’s gaffe, a viewer tweeted: ‘You need your own whole show interview – 5 minutes wasn’t nearly enough. The trio managed to gloss over the awkward moment but not for long as the comedian later launched into a tirade about his plans to leave the ‘corrupt’ UK. Not holding back, John ranted: ‘I’m going to buzz off in November because I’m fed up of the corruption in this country. ‘In particular, with just how awful the newspapers are and the way they censor news so people in England don’t know certain things, particularly anything critical of them. ‘I don’t think you can run a democracy until you have reasonably reliable information out there to help people make up their mind how they’re going to vote. MORE: John Cleese is leaving the UK in November because he’s ‘fed up of corruption and awful newspapers’.

Revolutionary Clinics Offers Marijuana-Themed Comedy

Medical marijuana dispensaries are still new to Somerville, and Revolutionary Clinics-recently opened in East Somerville-is aiming to make getting educated fun. The dispensary hosts patient education nights every Thursday, and this week is hosting a free, marijuana-themed comedy show featuring comedians from Greater Boston. He’s been doing comedy since 1994, and got involved with ImprovBoston when he moved to the area in 2014. The show will feature storytelling and stand-up comedy. The performers-Laura Clark, Lauren Brown, Alan Richardson, Pamela Ross, and Wes Hazard-will share funny stories about their experiences with marijuana.

While the performance will focus more on anecdotes than straight information, Fear says that comedy is a great way to communicate about marijuana. The show is free and there’s free parking available.

Tesla’s Musk smokes marijuana on comedy podcast

Tesla’s Elon Musk provoked another twitter storm on Friday by briefly smoking marijuana on a live web show with comedian Joe Rogan. The forty-seven year old billionaire spent two and a half hours on a podcast late Thursday discussing everything from artificial intelligence and its impact on humankind to flame throwers and social media. Musk stunned investors a month back with tweets saying he had funding to take the company private for $420 per share. He then backed off from his plan saying Tesla was better off as a public company. He followed it up with fresh attacks on British cave diver Vernon Unsworth.

Neither Tesla nor Musk have commented on the Buzzfeed report. Musk apologized to Unsworth in July for similar insults he made on Twitter following the rescue of a dozen Thai schoolboys and their football coach from a cave in Thailand. The billionaire’s behavior has raised concerns about his leadership and several Wall Street analysts have called for the company to appoint a strong No. 2 to prop up Tesla’s operations and standing with investors. His followers on Twitter went into a frenzy following the podcast. Several followers questioned if it was against the company’s policy, while others mocked the CEO’s initial $420 bid, a number that has become code for marijuana.

Shares of Tesla fell 1.3 percent in trading before the bell. They have fallen about 18 percent since Musk’s tweet on taking the company private on Aug. 7.Reporting by Nivedita Balu and Ismail Shakil in Bengaluru; Writing by Sweta Singh.

Canadian clubs want to bring comedy and cannabis together

TORONTO – It’s an age-old pairing that’s sparked a subgenre of films, shows and standup acts: cannabis and comedy. Stoned audiences are often the toughest to make laugh, say standup comics, who note that what high crowds lack in audible appreciation they make up for in friendly feedback and less heckling than drinking audiences. There’s also a Toronto Cannabis Comedy Festival planned for later this month. Comedy producer Joanne Baker, who is a medical marijuana user, opened the Underground Cafe and Social Club in 2006. High comedy crowds tend to like political humour and often don’t enjoy comedy that shames people, says Baker.

Observational humour and nostalgia work well on a high crowd, notes Rita. Audiences at Baker’s club also want to see diversity onstage. Baker notes high comedy crowds are on a different mental level than those who are drinking and may seem more difficult because they’re so inside their heads. Rita embraces the challenge, noting it helps him be a better comic. You just have to be overly prepared before going onstage in front of a high crowd, he says.

Yuk Yuk’s founder Breslin says he isn’t considering allowing cannabis use in his club come Oct. 17, but most comics he knows use marijuana and some have done so before going onstage at his club. Even if comics don’t use cannabis personally, they sometimes get a contact high anyway while onstage.

Comedy and Magic Club :: Jimmy Dore

Walking through Jimmy’s Dore. This week I sopke with an outstanding comedian named Jimmy Dore. He has appeared multiple times on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Comedy Central, and the Late Late Show. Rew: I know you talk about politics a lot in your act. Jimmy: Well, I don’t really talk about politics. Like, I’ll talk about healthcare or I’ll talk about the banking fiasco or the oil thing.

Rew: I am proud to say that after three years of interviews that is the first Spiro Agnew reference. That’s what comedy club’s are supposed to be about. You talk about things that are a little more risque. The ticket booth is going to be open when they say it is going to be open and everything is right and it’s just run well and I think that is why that club is successful. I know that nobody goes to comedy clubs for food, they go there for the comedy, the comedy is always top notch, but the food there is also.

I’m not embarrassed to say half the reason I like to go down to the Comedy & Magic Club is to get the blackened salmon. Jimmy Dore will be one of the ten comedians featured on Friday, June 18th and Saturday, June 19th 2010.

Medical Marijuana in Ohio

As September begins, Ohio’s newly formed medical marijuana program continues to be plagued by various delays and failures. As a direct result, our state’s patients, who are in dire need of the treatment cannabis provides, will have to wait even longer for the legal relief they require. On July 31, Buckeye Relief in Eastlake planted the first legal seeds, a momentous day only made possible because the cultivating facility finally received its certificate of operation from the state four days before. The state’s department of commerce can only give up to 12 of these certifications before the September 8 deadline, with potentially more on the way. Buckeye Relief is one of only three growers in the state that has been given the go ahead to start planting, with five more supposedly being allowed to start soon.

Eventually, only 26 licensed growers will be allowed to operate in the entire state. In addition to this already restrictive situation, the state had as many as 104 applications for processing center licenses, which again are necessary for transforming the crops into consumable products, but only 13 have been approved so far – and the state only intends on approving 40. On top of all of this, only 222 doctors have been given the authority to prescribe the drug, which requires a certain amount of training, and even then, there are only 21 medical conditions for which the state allows the drug to be prescribed. Bob Bridges, who sits on the state’s Medical Marijuana Advisory Committee as an advocate for patients, says the registry should be live now, because it would give growers and processors a better estimate of how many patients are looking to consume products. While many of the failed applicants in the various realms of Ohio’s faulty medical marijuana program have chances to re-apply later on down the line, it’s no mystery as to why some of the cannabis entrepreneurs here in the Buckeye State are even contemplating legal action.

The federal government has recognized up to 150 qualifying medical conditions for which cannabis can be at least researched, and those scientific studies have since found that marijuana can be used to treat up to 400 various medical conditions. At the end of the day, with so many different people understanding the various benefits of unrestricted medical marijuana utilization – from patients to scientists to journalists – it’s high time that Ohio’s state officials do the same.

How the Legal Marijuana Industry Is Helping Grow []

SPOILER ALERT. So if you don’t want to know what the movie was about don’t read this. They say a woman whose husband has done her wrong… OK, it might be morose on my part but I sort of want to know more about that, but he is dead already, and she does or doesn’t know much about what he did or didn’t do to her…except that she had to keep mailing letters to an address. She just hangs up on creditors, and throws the mail in the trash and goes around the village like normal…though the neighbors know all about it.

Her gardener, a man that seems to never have held a steady job, has no money, no property; but who is shacking up with a pretty woman who works as a fisherman; is trying to grow pot under other people’s bushes. The plants aren’t doing well, and because this woman, Grace, grows orchids he decides she is a wiz with plants and asks her for help. So they go out in the dead of night, and crawl under bushes and she brings one back, saying she knows they are pot. They harvest it, somewhere in it an ex-fling of her husband keeps showing her face and Grace decides to make friends and THEN gets angry and throws her out when she finds out that her husband had sex and enjoyed it with her. She can’t so now she decides for sure the ex-girlfriend will know a dealer and goes there expecting help.

IF the husband spent any money on this woman, and it would make sense he did; it was never even hinted at in this movie. A dealer comes to the adulterer’s house, he is not big enough, so they get him to take them to a dealer big enough…and it is a pitiful attempt to make the BIG drug dealer look menacing, and totally fails. I can’t really tell how much money it is, or if it will cover Grace’s money needs…all we are given is Grace’s face looking happy and excited. Grace already knew this while she was getting him to help her do this.

A Sea of Green (Marijuana Crime Drama/Full Movie)

Medical Marijuana: The Evidence Providence, Rhode Island Motif Magazine

The use of marijuana for medicinal purposes has a long history. Marijuana tea was prescribed in ancient China as early as 2700BC and the plant’s use for medicinal purposes spread throughout Asia, the Middle East and East Africa. The Food and Drug Administration and the Drug Enforcement Agency have classified marijuana as a schedule I substance. The FDA has approved two drugs that contain a synthetic version of a substance contained in marijuana and one drug that contains a substance that mimics the action of a compound found in marijuana. The FDA has not approved marijuana itself as a safe and effective drug for any indication.

Despite the FDA classification, multiple reviews of medical literature suggest marijuana may be effective in treating other diseases. A clinical review from June 2015 published in the Journal of the American Medical Association reviewed 28 randomized clinical trials that investigated the effectiveness of marijuana in the treatment of chronic pain, neuropathic pain and spasticity due to multiple sclerosis. Several of the trials had positive results and suggest that marijuana and cannabinoids may have some benefit in treating these conditions. A number of major medical associations have weighed in on the potential of marijuana for medical use. They do not advocate for the use of medical marijuana for neurological disorders at this time, citing the need for more research.

Many doctors are now advocating for the use of medical marijuana when indicated. He did caution that there is still much we do not know about marijuana and echoed the call for more research.

Great but Forgotten: Firesign Theater

The record supplying the music was done, and I put another one one. They were a group of four writers/performers who started out doing radio plays and quickly graduated to records. They were as big a revolution in comedy as Monty Python’s Flying Circus, who were starting out around the same time. The group took its name from astrology – all four members were Fire Signs* – with a nod to the old Fireside Theater radio show. They took the conventions of radio drama and added psychedelic sensibilities and wove it all into a dense collection of comic brilliance.

They would stop to listen if they had said thing on the other side of the record, and one half of a phone conversation on one album would have the other half showing up on another. They started out in radio on the west coast, but were signed with Columbia Records, and put out their first album, Waiting for the Electrician or Someone Like Him in 1968. The Further Adventures of Nick Danger, Third Eye is a parody of radio detective shows, with the hero meeting a Peter Lorre type mysterious man. The next album, I Think We’re All Bozos on This Bus was a slight dropoff. Their next album, Not Insane was a disappointment, and they never really recovered, even though they did some good work afterwards.

The group remains together today, doing live shows of their work, and the various permutations also released albums over the years. For their first three albums, they put forth a brand of comedy that was all their own.

Grow house and dispensary tours in CO

In January 2014, Colorado and Washington became the first two states to begin openly selling marijuana on a recreational level. Colorado’s economy boomed, especially in terms of real estate, with everyone wanting to come and see if they could strike it rich in the new industry. All the national exposure Colorado got in the media, sent others flocking here, many not caring at all about cannabis, only everything else the wonderful state offered. Commercial marijuana tours soon followed, guiding the new wave of green tourists behind the scenes. There are now numerous companies offering a range of experiences, from tours of cultivation facilities to cannabis cooking classes and CBD infused massages.

Stoner comedies like Half-Baked and Friday have some distinct similarities to Atlanta. In a few short episodes, Atlanta has already shown itself to be far deeper than your average stoner comedy with its unique style and grander cultural aspirations. The distinct humor of stoner comedies comes from two places. Uses both of these stoner comedy tools to its advantage. The plotting of Atlanta also feels of a piece with stoner comedies.

The first character we meet besides Earn is Vanessa, the mother of Earn’s child and the person with the unenviable duty of nagging him into responsibility. Though Vanessa has far more dimension than the average stoner comedy girlfriend, like many nagging girlfriends before her, she is here to tell Peter Pan to grow up. We also get moments with Earn’s parents to set up the age-old conflict in stoner comedy-the family that wants our hero to grow up versus the friends who want our hero to smoke up. Though Atlanta uses all of these stoner comedy tropes, this series goes further. The absurd fever dreams of stoner comedy are usually used just for laughs.

After the bus incident, Earn sees a dog that he later sees before the gas station shootout, and we something about the dog resonates with us, we see Earn in the stray dog’s eyes. The various conversations that pop up as Earn waits at the police station in episode two address various issues in the criminal justice system.
