A Sea of Green (Marijuana Crime Drama/Full Movie)

Medical Marijuana: The Evidence Providence, Rhode Island Motif Magazine

The use of marijuana for medicinal purposes has a long history. Marijuana tea was prescribed in ancient China as early as 2700BC and the plant’s use for medicinal purposes spread throughout Asia, the Middle East and East Africa. The Food and Drug Administration and the Drug Enforcement Agency have classified marijuana as a schedule I substance. The FDA has approved two drugs that contain a synthetic version of a substance contained in marijuana and one drug that contains a substance that mimics the action of a compound found in marijuana. The FDA has not approved marijuana itself as a safe and effective drug for any indication.

Despite the FDA classification, multiple reviews of medical literature suggest marijuana may be effective in treating other diseases. A clinical review from June 2015 published in the Journal of the American Medical Association reviewed 28 randomized clinical trials that investigated the effectiveness of marijuana in the treatment of chronic pain, neuropathic pain and spasticity due to multiple sclerosis. Several of the trials had positive results and suggest that marijuana and cannabinoids may have some benefit in treating these conditions. A number of major medical associations have weighed in on the potential of marijuana for medical use. They do not advocate for the use of medical marijuana for neurological disorders at this time, citing the need for more research.

Many doctors are now advocating for the use of medical marijuana when indicated. He did caution that there is still much we do not know about marijuana and echoed the call for more research.

Great but Forgotten: Firesign Theater

The record supplying the music was done, and I put another one one. They were a group of four writers/performers who started out doing radio plays and quickly graduated to records. They were as big a revolution in comedy as Monty Python’s Flying Circus, who were starting out around the same time. The group took its name from astrology – all four members were Fire Signs* – with a nod to the old Fireside Theater radio show. They took the conventions of radio drama and added psychedelic sensibilities and wove it all into a dense collection of comic brilliance.

They would stop to listen if they had said thing on the other side of the record, and one half of a phone conversation on one album would have the other half showing up on another. They started out in radio on the west coast, but were signed with Columbia Records, and put out their first album, Waiting for the Electrician or Someone Like Him in 1968. The Further Adventures of Nick Danger, Third Eye is a parody of radio detective shows, with the hero meeting a Peter Lorre type mysterious man. The next album, I Think We’re All Bozos on This Bus was a slight dropoff. Their next album, Not Insane was a disappointment, and they never really recovered, even though they did some good work afterwards.

The group remains together today, doing live shows of their work, and the various permutations also released albums over the years. For their first three albums, they put forth a brand of comedy that was all their own.

Grow house and dispensary tours in CO

People once thought of Colorado as cowboys and ski resorts, today it’s big, bushy green plants and clouds of cannabis smoke. Kavasutra – Denver provides area residents with an island atmosphere without…. About marijuana tours in Colorado. Colorado’s legal marijuana scene has grown rapidly in the last couple decades. Colorado followed four years later in November 2000.

In January 2014, Colorado and Washington became the first two states to begin openly selling marijuana on a recreational level. Colorado’s economy boomed, especially in terms of real estate, with everyone wanting to come and see if they could strike it rich in the new industry. All the national exposure Colorado got in the media, sent others flocking here, many not caring at all about cannabis, only everything else the wonderful state offered. Commercial marijuana tours soon followed, guiding the new wave of green tourists behind the scenes. There are now numerous companies offering a range of experiences, from tours of cultivation facilities to cannabis cooking classes and CBD infused massages.

If you want to discover what’s leading the development of Colorado’s future, be sure to reserve your spot on a marijuana tour. Toke A Look Inside Denver’s Top Cannabis Tours – Colorado has long been a 420 friendly state, with its laid back culture and progressive attitude. Few were surprised it became one of the first states to legalize recreational use of marijuana.

Stoner comedies like Half-Baked and Friday have some distinct similarities to Atlanta. In a few short episodes, Atlanta has already shown itself to be far deeper than your average stoner comedy with its unique style and grander cultural aspirations. The distinct humor of stoner comedies comes from two places. Uses both of these stoner comedy tools to its advantage. The plotting of Atlanta also feels of a piece with stoner comedies.

The first character we meet besides Earn is Vanessa, the mother of Earn’s child and the person with the unenviable duty of nagging him into responsibility. Though Vanessa has far more dimension than the average stoner comedy girlfriend, like many nagging girlfriends before her, she is here to tell Peter Pan to grow up. We also get moments with Earn’s parents to set up the age-old conflict in stoner comedy-the family that wants our hero to grow up versus the friends who want our hero to smoke up. Though Atlanta uses all of these stoner comedy tropes, this series goes further. The absurd fever dreams of stoner comedy are usually used just for laughs.

After the bus incident, Earn sees a dog that he later sees before the gas station shootout, and we something about the dog resonates with us, we see Earn in the stray dog’s eyes. The various conversations that pop up as Earn waits at the police station in episode two address various issues in the criminal justice system.

Marijuana-based businesses continue development – Las Vegas Review-Journal

Marijuana-based businesses in Southern Nevada are continuing to expand in the region as the gates to recreational sales opened less than a year ago. Another facility being built in Las Vegas is by Canadian-based Marapharm Ventures Inc. The company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Marapharm Las Vegas LLC, is constructing on a 7-acre site in Apex Industrial Park that will contain a roughly more than 300,000-square-foot project for the cultivation and production of recreational marijuana. Klassen said the company sees Las Vegas as a massive market, comparing his native Canada’s population of about 36 million spread across hundreds of miles versus the more than 40 million tourists who come to the Strip. Riana Durrett, executive director of the Nevada Dispensary Association, said the survey was based on property improvements since the medical marijuana program began in Nevada.

Findley estimates there could be as much as 1 million to 2 million square feet of space under development in the Southern Nevada region for facilities being used for the medical and recreational marijuana demand in the region. Most of the local operators were anticipating that recreational marijuana would become legal in the state according to Jack, which it did in the 2016 election cycle. Jack is projecting a higher growth rate for development in the local area compared with other markets that have had recreational in place for some time. Marijuana Business Daily reports that compounded annual sales growth is expected to increase by 14 percent to 25 percent over the next five years on a nationwide basis. Projections from Marijuana Business Daily show 2018’s national recreational and medical marijuana sales to range from $6.7 billion to $8.8 billion.

In early January, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that he was rescinding guidance set during the Obama years that kept a policy of not interfering with state marijuana laws. Sessions has been an opponent of marijuana operations. In March, Congress gave protections to medical marijuana, extending provisions that doesn’t allow Sessions to use funding to go after states with legalized medical marijuana in a $1.3 trillion spending bill that funds the government through September.

Monday in Marijuana

We’re still monitoring the fallout of last week’s momentous decision that signaled the end of the federal prohibition on medical marijuana, a stipulation buried deep in the 1,603 page bipartisan federal spending package, and it seems as if the news has barely stirred a ripple in the pond for the reefer madness set. The families of those suffering from ailments that could be relieved by marijuana are wondering exactly what the hold up is. Colorado continues to be the epicenter for the legalization movement. Instead of government money being spent to investigate the negative effects of marijuana, an $8M research grant was awarded by the Colorado Board of Health to look at whether the plant can truly help with epilepsy, brain tumors, Parkinson’s disease and post-traumatic stress disorder. With a locally-based economy booming, teen use of cannabis dropping, and crime rates falling, and governments reaping a windfall of tax profits throughout Colorado, neighboring states have finally decided that enough was enough.

Two teenagers from Gaylesville, Alabama were arrested last week on felony possession of marijuana as they worked off a cruel case of the munchies in a Waffle House. File under parliamentary governmental systems: the editor of a popular marijuana news website in Israel is running for Knesset with a predictable agenda. In Canada, the Conservative government lost its latest appeal aimed at preventing medical marijuana users from growing their own, because you know, what the hell and how dare they and everything. The court passed down an unanimous decision, which prevented medical users from buying their drugs off the streets from young kids who hang out in Waffle Houses, or Tim Hortons, as the case may be. The epileptics of Brazil are slowly succeeding in making their own case that some future politicians will sue over, seeking the legalization of medical pot.

Brian Borncamp contributed this thoughtful article to us last week, which imagines a future economy on Buffalo’s East Side featuring good pal cannabis. By all intents and purposes, the marijuana biz is a slow train coming, laden with long-term and localized economic benefits that far outweigh the negative effects, and Borncamp’s piece is a slice of that future.

7 Comedians Who Enjoy Marijuana

Although weed can definitely highlight what’s weird about your surrounding or amplify already-comedic situations, it can’t instill a fully-developed sense of humor. Doug Benson’s comedy career revolves almost entirely around his love of cannabis. Benson created the 2008 documentary Super High Me, a druggy take on Morgan Spurlock’s McDonald’s exposé Super Size Me, in which Benson smokes weed in huge quantities every day for a month. Like a trippy version of Mike Nichols and Elaine May, collaborators Kate Berlant and John Early showcase a weird brand of character-based comedy in seemingly improvised skits like Family Dinner and Reunion. Berlant and Early’s deadpan comedy is deeply rooted in the same pseudo-intellectual and fame-obsessed millennial culture that it satirizes, making for an especially meta comedy experience.

Each of the two wrote and starred in full episodes of the 2016 Netflix original comedy The Characters – Early’s episode totally nails some cringe-worthy identities like a self-absorbed yuppie party host and a sassy but depressed Christian comedienne. Dave Chappelle staked a claim to stoner fandom early on in his career, having written, produced, and starred in the 1998 cannabis classic Half Baked. Chappelle briefly bowed out of the spotlight after Chappelle’s Show was canceled in 2006 and now lives a low-key life with his family in suburban Ohio. A recent GQ interview with Chappelle yields some other great nuggets: he may have bought weed from Idris Elba back in the day, and once requested permission to smoke weed onstage from crack-smoking Toronto mayor Rob Ford. Jason Segel doesn’t just play a cannabis enthusiast on TV.

He’s well known for his love of weed, and has made a name for himself as a leading man in comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Jeff, Who Lives At Home, blending bumbling antics with undeniable sincerity. George Carlin is one of the first and arguably best full-fledged observational comedians. Carlin’s countercultural humor was at least partially fueled by cannabis: in a retrospective interview with Jon Stewart, he claimed to.

Delaware Could Clear Past Minor Marijuana Convictions From Records – Cannabistical: of or concerning cannabis.

Since 2017, Delaware has been cautiously working toward a future with legal adult-use cannabis and a regulated market. A new marijuana bill introduced in the General Assembly Wednesday is aiming at correcting the wrongs of the past. Delaware decriminalized cannabis possession up to an ounce in 2015. If their legislation passes, Delaware could clear past minor marijuana convictions from records for more than 1,000 people. While still a significant reform, it often doesn’t address prior marijuana convictions and does little to reduce illicit sales.

Following a yearlong battle over legalizing and regulating cannabis, the Delaware Adult Use Cannabis Task Force recently released its final report. So with legalization in limbo, pro-cannabis lawmakers introduced a bill to expunge the criminal record of anyone with a minor marijuana conviction, which means that for more than 1,000 people, Delaware could clear past minor marijuana convictions from records. Arguments in favor of decriminalization rightly center the criminal justice component of reforming marijuana laws. Minor marijuana convictions can come with major, long-term consequences. Clearing such convictions from someone’s record can significantly improve their life prospects.

Adult-use cannabis legalization enjoys support among the majority of Delaware residents. While the future of legal weed there is still unclear, clearing prior marijuana convictions is a major step toward progressive criminal justice reform.

YG Releases Official Statement Regarding G-Dragon’s Marijuana Incident

YG Entertainment released an official statement regarding G-Dragon’s having been caught smoking marijuana. The official statement contains the story in the perspective of YG Entertainment and G-Dragon. The Korean public had several questions of why G-Dragon’s punishment was so lenient. Last July, G-Dragon received investigation by the prosecutor’s office due to suspicion of smoking marijuana. G-Dragon confidently accepted the investigation because he had not smoked marijuana and went through with his schedule as usual.

When he heard the news that his hair drug test came out as positive, he was shocked because he had not smoked marijuana before. While trying to find the reason how such a result would occur, he remembered a memory from his Japanese tour in May. He was at a party with several Japanese representatives that visited his concert. During the party, a Japanese individual that is believed to be a fan greeted G-Dragon and offered him a cigarette. G-Dragon probably forgot that incident because he did not consider it significant.

The prosecutor’s office decided not to indict G-Dragon for two reasons. The first reason was because his test result was a weak positive, and the second was that G-Dragon had not deliberately smoked marijuana. There weren’t any other legal penalties for this incident, we believe that the guilt and responsibility that G-Dragon and YG Entertainment has to bear is heavier than any legal penalty.

The Medical ‘Benefits’ of THC and Smoking Marijuana: a Review of the Current Scientific Literature

1 Medical studies have shown that the active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, might provide some medical benefits in some patients. This paper represents a current review of the medical literature regarding the benefits and drawbacks of using marijuana for medical or recreational purposes. Anecdotal evidence for the beneficial effects of marijuana eventually led to the design of controlled scientific studies to examine the benefits of marijuana compared to other treatments. The use of marijuana or cannabis extracts for medical treatment has been extensively studied over the last 20 years. 42 A 38-year study of more than 1,000 New Zealanders found that adolescents who used marijuana at least four days per week lost an average of eight IQ points between the ages of 13 and 38.43 Those people who began heavy smoking of marijuana only in adulthood did not suffer a loss of IQ. Loss of IQ was not reversible once marijuana use was ceased. Although smoking marijuana doesn’t have the same degree of risk as smoking tobacco, smoking anything over long periods of time does add to risks of contracting forms of cancer of the respiratory tract. Absolute correlation of marijuana smoking with cancer risks are complicated by concomitant tobacco smoking and increased alcohol use among marijuana users. The data shows that research on the medical effects of marijuana is becoming increasingly negative and decreasingly positive over the last 11 years of medical research. The number of studies examining the medical aspects of marijuana has increased markedly over the last 5 years, dramatically expanding our knowledge of the mostly negative aspects of marijuana usage. Having received dozens of emails saying how good marijuana is, I have felt the need for a thorough review of the scientific literature regarding the positive and negative aspects of marijuana use.

Marijuana and Comedy – Funny gets fun in Denvers comedy scene

Splitsider – Comedians like Doug Benson and Stephen Colbert have been getting a lot of joke-mileage out of Colorado’s legalization of marijuana last January. The name is derived from Khalatbari’s chain of pizza restaurants, Sexy Pizza, one of which hosted the first Sexpot Comedy show early last year. The show has since grown and splintered into several regular events, hosted at different comedy clubs and music venues around town under the Sexpot banner. For years Denver has been a known destination for touring comics; the thirty-year-old Comedy Works has been proclaimed by performers like Dave Chappelle and Dave Attell as their favorite comedy club. Last summer, Juett and comedian Adam Cayton-Holland produced Denver’s first large-scale comedy festival, The High Plains Comedy Festival, which was headlined by Reggie Watts and ended up being a sold-out success. It was Kayvan Khalatbari’s marijuana dispensary, Denver Relief, that initially sponsored several different comedy shows and podcasts around town, back when Sexpot was just a witty pun being tossed around. While this continues in some arenas, the Sexpot Comedy shows have been gaining a lucrative momentum of their own, in part thanks to Juett’s utilization of the local comedy radio station for marketing, as well as the throbbing enthusiasm coming from Colorado’s energized marijuana scene. There’s no getting around the fact that some cannabis consumption goes on at Sexpot shows, whether through edibles, vaporizers or straight-up smoldering joints. Khalatbari shares Juett’s feeling that marijuana shouldn’t come to dominate the identity of Sexpot Comedy. He’s derisive of the Cannabis Cup and 420 Festival culture that has become an unfortunate media focus of Colorado marijuana scene; and says that he is equally sick of the endless cosmos-and-munchies jokes that every hack comedian rolls out when performing in Denver.
