marijuana

204 Augusta Avenue, Kensington Market, Toronto, ON

If you smoke marijuana and wants to chill with people, you’re at the right place. I love this place! We stumbled upon Hot Box Cafe a year ago visiting Kensington market. A total gem located inside Kensington Market in Toronto. If you’re in Toronto this is a place you would want to check out at least once for the experience.

Place was crowded but staff continued to accept more people without informing them that there is no actual space to sit or put your things down. Decent place to sit and smoke with friends if its cold out and you’re in the neighborhood. I visited the Hot Box Cafe as a non-smoker, hanging out this Sunday just past with a visitor to Toronto who had visited this place at its Baldwin Street location and liked it. I like the place, too, simply as a place to hang out if you want to smoke a joint, or hang out with people who do. I’d not go back unless I was with someone who wanted to smoke a joint, but it struck me as a comfortable and safe place to do so.

Despite seeming run-down, the place has a certain charm. Often they play chill beats from various genres but sometimes they play shitty dubstep/ popular music For what it is, its a nice place. Not a place I will be frequenting but I am not adverse to visiting again either.

Top 11 Marijuana Documentaries

UPDATED WITH NEW LINKS. These are by far some of the best marijuana documentaries to date. All of them are eye-opening and most of them make a serious case for the legalization of marijuana and/or medical marijuana. Except for Reefer Madness, I threw that in for a different reason. Sit back, spark a fat one up, and get ready to have your mind blown.

Reefer Madness – A great look at the scare tactics used against marijuana. For the last two I couldn’t find anywhere online to watch, but they are both very good. You can probably rent it through Netflix or something like that. Waiting to Inhale covers medical marijuana and the life of Robert Randall, the first medical marijuana patient in the United States. He won a court case back in the 1976 to use cannabis on the basis of medical necessity for his glaucoma.

Not only did he receive a monthly supply of marijuana, it was supplied by none other than the federal government. Not many people know, but there was a federally run medical marijuana program that ran for only a few years that started with his victorious court case in 1976. In all there were 13 that received medical marijuana, and of those 13, the ones still living still receive that marijuana to this day legally.

Top 10 Good Movies About Addiction

It follows the frenetic, spiraling demise of three Coney Island heroin junkies and a woman addicted to diet pills, in what has been lauded as the most accurate portrayal of addiction ever made. The strobe-like filming melts its viewers into what feels like a bad acid trip, as the characters’ simple dreams-a dress shop, a TV spot, a nest egg-slip further and further away. Jared Leto and Jennifer Connelly star as the addicts whose hopes of a big score are slowly, painfully chipped away. Connelly and Leto’s initially sweet young love soon decays into prostitution and jail time. Ellen Burstyn’s Oscar-nominated role as Leto’s elderly mother begins with a simple dream of being on her favorite television show; hope morphs into obsession and eventually into a pill-fueled hallucinatory nightmare in which her household appliances are closing in on her.

Where Requiem for a Dream never cracks a smile, Trainspotting is one seedy, yellow-toothed grin. Irreverent and chock-full of stellar performances, Danny Boyle’s early film documents the lives of a group of young Scottish heroin addicts. An emaciated, punked-out Ewan McGregor stars as the blue-collar Renton, who steals from his mother in order to feed his habit.

Top Canadian Marijuana Lounges – The Chill Bud

One of few marijuana lounges I have had the pleasure of visiting in Canada, and it did not disappoint. Set up, chill out and enjoy the view of West Hastings street while you toke. Conveniently located beside the 7,500 square foot Cannabis Culture Superstore, you can pick up a new piece and test it out at the vapor lounge. They claim to be the largest, coolest and greatest vapor lounge in Toronto, warmly welcoming any medical cannabis users, cannabis enthusiasts and activists alike. Besides the tasty treats and cool beverages, they offer some pretty awesome live entertainment.

Because you should be able to toke while you enjoy some local stand-up comedy. Probably the newest vapor lounge in Canada, BuzzOn took up shop in the nation’s capital on 4.20.2015. They are operating one of the only vape lounges in Ottawa and offer some live stand-up comedy on Saturday nights. Located about 2 blocks from Lake Ontario, this aptly named vapor lounge is one of many in the Toronto area. The Hot Box Cafe has a Arizer V-Tower on every table.

The annual 4:20 party is something every Toronto stoner should check out. Giving pot heads a relaxing place to chill and enjoy some top quality pizza pie.
