Canada Just Legalized Recreational Cannabis Use

Recreational marijuana use will soon be legal in Canada after senators voted 52-29 on a federal government bill that paves the way for the sale, purchase, and use of pot, CBC reports. The bill regulates the growing, distribution, and sale of the drug, with legal weed expected to hit the market in the next two to three months. Ontario Senator Tony Dean, who sponsored the bill, enthused over the result, suggesting the move has the power to transform Canadian society. As for when the actual legalization date is implemented, that’s up to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. According to CBC, the bill – Bill C-45 – comes with a provisional buffer period of eight to 12 weeks to give Canada’s provinces enough time to lay the groundwork before the sale of marijuana begins.

Big Bud Marijuana Review with Pictures

Looks: Very big, light green, fairly frosty buds, with very fine light orange frosted hairs. Smell: This bud is really dank smelling, almost musty; it also has some sweet undertones, and occasionally a bit of sour wafts by. Effects: Fairly mellow onset, not a very strong buzz with regards to ‘feeling it hit you. The up-side of this bud, is that it alleviates my symptoms considerably. The down-side is that the high is a bit forgetful and distracted.

While this is only a bit couch-lock-ish, I don’t know if I would use this as a daytime smoke, due to the mental state of the high. Notes: This was a fairly well rounded buzz medically. It helps considerably with my stomach pains and nausea; and if smoked it makes for a pretty good sedative at night as well.

Nixon, Marijuana, and the Shafer Commission

The Nixon White House tapes from 1971-1972 demonstrate that the foundation of the modern war on marijuana was Nixonian prejudice, culture war and misinformation. CSDP’s Doug McVay spent several days at the National Archives listening to the Nixon White House tapes to find conversations about drug policy, especially regarding the National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse, appointed by President Nixon. Nixon made clear several times that he wanted a report which supported his views and ‘tough on crime’ policies, no matter what the facts might be. To his credit, Governor Shafer delivered instead an honest report, with conclusions based on all the evidence – even though at the time he was being considered for a federal judgeship.

Your Ultimate Cannabis and Beer Guide

Your body absorbs the alcohol through the stomach, and unlike the food, it doesn’t have to be digested. This means that it reaches bloodstream in very short time, a fifth of the alcohol starts working immediately, and your tissue absorbs the majority of the rest. Alcohol has several different effects on both the body and mind. It dulls a part of the brain that regulates the motor functions, and thus it becomes hard to control your body. It may also cause various physical effects that include vomiting.

Inability to correctly pronounce words and blurred visions are also the way in which alcohol works.

Medical Marijuana To Expand In Louisiana

Two bills expanding medical marijuana in Louisiana will become law after Gov. John Bel Edwards signs the last one this weekend. House Bill 579 by Rep. Ted James, D-Baton Rouge, adds Parkinson’s, glaucoma, severe muscle spasms, chronic pain and post traumatic stress disorder to the 10 conditions currently qualifying for medical marijuana. Edwards’ spokesman Richard Carbo said the governor planned to sign James’ bill Saturday, the last day Edwards can sign or veto any bills from the Regular Session that ended May 18.

Those that aren’t signed or vetoed after Saturday will automatically become law. House Bill 672 by Rep. Rodney Lyons, D-Harvey, which the governor has already signed into law, also adds autism to the list of conditions covered. Supporters of James’ bill to add PTSD have said the medicine could be especially helpful to veterans and combat the nation’s opiod crisis. Rep.

Kenny Cox, D-Natchitoches, is a military veteran whose son is also a veteran.

New York State To Take Another Look Into Legalizing Marijuana « CBS New York

With Massachusetts legalizing marijuana and New Jersey considering it, Cuomo may have a change of mind to avoid losing revenue to neighboring states, reports CBS2’s Marcia Kramer. Last month New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy announced plans to expand his state’s classifications of medical-use marijuana. Murphy had made legalizing marijuana part of his campaign for office, including legalized recreational marijuana in New Jersey. In an odd twist, the governor is getting support from New York City’s First Lady Chirlane McCray.

Both de Blasio and his wife have copped to smoking weed when they were younger, but the mayor is still on the fence when it comes to making it legal. NYPD Chief of Detectives Bob Boyce was asked Friday about McCray’s position. Many people Kramer spoke with Friday were admittedly on the fence. Marijuana became a billion dollar business after Colorado legalized weed, bringing in hundreds of millions in new tax revenue. New York’s study is expected to be completely by fall.

Cheech and Chong Say ‘Pot’s Over’ Now That Republicans Like John Boehner Are Supporting Marijuana Reform

The age of marijuana’s rebellious and cool status is officially over, according to Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. It all started when late-night host Colbert asked Marin and Chong what they thought about the push for legalized pot now that Republicans like former House Speaker John Beohner-a longtime opponent of marijuana reform-were starting to support pot’s legalization. The company grows and sells legal marijuana and services 11 states. According to 68-year-old Boehner, he decided to join the company in effort to get veterans legal access to the drug. Although Beohner’s newfound acceptance of marijuana raised eyebrows, his sentiments regarding the medical value of the plant falls in line with a growing number of Americans who believe patients and adults should be able to legally consume cannabis.

A Pew Research Center report in January found 61 percent of U.S. adults were in favor of legal marijuana.

Canada Senate Gives Approval to Marijuana Legalization – Cannabistical: of or concerning cannabis.

A bill to legalize marijuana, proposed by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has been passed by the Senate through its third and final reading. The legislation – C-45 – has already been passed by the House of Commons, but will go back for one final vote on Senate amendments before being sent to the Governor General for Royal Assent. Once the law takes effect, the possession and cultivation of personal amounts of marijuana will be legal for those 18 and older. The law authorizes licensed marijuana businesses to sell marijuana and marijuana products, and also allows online sales. Passage of the law makes Canada the second country, following Uruguay, to officially legalize marijuana.

A C.D. Howe Institute report released last year found that legal marijuana will bring Canada around $675 million in annual tax revenue. >View original articleAuthor: Anthony Martinelli.

Nevada 1 of 5 states where gun suicides outnumber roadway deaths – Las Vegas Review-Journal

Nevada is one of five states in which gun suicides outnumber roadway deaths, according to a comparison of the most recently available statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In the same time span, gun suicides have risen to all-time highs. While Nevadans kill themselves by methods ranging from jumping from bridges and cliffs to drug overdoses, poisoning and hanging, more than 51 percent of suicides involve the use of a gun, according to the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention. Nevada is one of 10 states where total gun deaths outnumbered traffic fatalities.

Utah, Oregon, Washington and Alaska, gun suicides outweighed crashes. A combination of depression, gun accessibility and lack of mental health resources were also among the leading suicide factors cited by Dr. Ron Lawrence, founder of the Community Counseling Center of Southern Nevada. Teenage gun suicides accounted for less than 4 percent of the total. Males accounted for 86 percent of gun suicides across all age groups.

As part of an initiative to build awareness for gun suicides, the Department of Suicide Prevention launched a statewide campaign with Nevada gun stores in 2012. The department leaves gun safety and suicide prevention brochures in stores and trains employees to intervene when a customer seems suicidal. The Range 702 and 2nd Amendment Gun Shop are among Las Vegas Valley gun shops participating in the campaign. Egan said a recent gun background check petition drive also could help cut down on suicides.

Unintended Consequences

‘Notice: Please be aware that, due to conflict between federal and state laws concerning the cultivation, distribution, manufacture, or sale of marijuana, the Company is not able to close, nor insure, any transaction involving property that is associated with these activities. This is a big deal, and I’m not at all sure many in the real estate industry are even aware of it yet. It means that a marijuana-growing operation, or establishment that ‘dispenses’ marijuana, cannot get title insurance for their property, making it nearly impossible to sell the property. Note that the clause above does not enumerate any kind of time limit! When you can’t get title insurance, you can’t get a loan!

That landlord would probably be better-off if his property were contaminated with plutonium! In the interim, which probably includes the remainder of our lifetimes, significant risk will continue to attach,. About John Farnam & Defense Training International, IncAs a defensive weapons and tactics instructor John Farnam will urge you, based on your own beliefs, to make up your mind in advance as to what you would do when faced with an imminent lethal threat. You should, of course, also decide what preparations you should make in advance if any. Defense Training International wants to make sure that their students fully understand the physical, legal, psychological, and societal consequences of their actions or in-actions.

It is our duty to make you aware of certain unpleasant physical realities intrinsic to the Planet Earth. Mr. Farnam is happy to be your counselor and advisor.

Canada unveils plans to legalise recreational marijuana

Canada has laid out its plan to legalise the sale of recreational marijuana by June 2018. If it passes, the country will be the largest developed nation to end marijuana prohibition. The law was tabled on Thursday, and would allow adults over 18 to possess up to 30g of dried marijuana. The former police chief had chaired the government’s cannabis task force, which laid out a blueprint for legal recreational pot in Canada. It would allow police to test people’s saliva if they think a driver has been using marijuana.

Canada has some of the highest marijuana use in the world, according to the task force, especially amongst young people. The new framework would make it illegal to market marijuana products to children, or sell to anyone under 18. One thing her organisation has been pushing for is to have the sale of marijuana contained to government-controlled stores that enforce minimum pricing. Mr Goodale advised that, in the meantime, police will enforce existing marijuana laws. Many have been regularly raided by police and two prominent marijuana activists and retailers – Marc and Jodie Emery – were recently arrested and charged with a number of offences including drug trafficking.

Medical marijuana has been legal in Canada since 2001 and is grown by 42 federally licensed producers. The medical marijuana framework would continue to operate under the new legislation, but licensed Canadian producers who grow for the medical marijuana market are already jockeying to enter the lucrative recreational retail sector.

McCarthy is fun in ‘Life of the Party,’ but comedy too infrequently LOL-funny

The latest comedy vehicle for Melissa McCarthy offers an appealing-enough premise: McCarthy plays a suddenly single woman who goes back to college to complete her degree at the same time her daughter is there for her senior year. It also can be quite charming, thanks also to McCarthy. Too often it’s is plagued by weak writing from McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone, who also directs. Full of emotions, Deanna states that it’s great to be back at Dan’s and her alma mater. After a binge at the bookstore for school-spirit gear, Deanna wakes in her dorm room before classes start.

While her roommate, Leonor, is an odd, live-life-in-the-dark type, Deanna immediately hits it off with her daughter’s sorority sisters Amanda, Debbie and Helen. Deanna also finds a rival in the pretty-and-bratty Jennifer, another weak plot element, this one to generate occasional conflict – and a dance-off at a 1980s-themed party. Speaking of parties, at an earlier bash at a fraternity house, Deanna is given a quick makeover by Maddie in the bathroom, indulges in some binge drinking and spends the night with a young man, Jack. Of course, it makes little sense that the handsome, kind-hearted Jack becomes obsessed with Deanna based on their night of passion. McCarthy and Falcone aren’t really in the business of making sensible plot choices.

As penned by them and performed by McCarthy, Deanna is a very likeable heroine, and her relationship with her daughter is very sweet. Rated: PG-13 for sexual material, drug content and partying.
