Spirit of Marijuana (Oluwa comedy)

Acting Classes Los Angeles & Santa Monica

Most experienced actors are placed in a Comedy Intensive after an Intro Work Session. Comedy Intensives meet either three consecutive Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays. After completing the Comedy Intensive, our four week Technique Clinic is the next step. Examining drama as well as comedy, we further develop and expand upon the skills introduced in the Comedy Intensive. Clinic classes meet once a week for four consecutive weeks and are taught by LK&Co.

While the Intensive is largely about what we have to teach you, and the Clinic is half what we have to teach you and half what is specifically going on with you and your acting, the Ongoing classes are pretty much all about you. Utilizing currently casting film and television material, Ongoing classes cover every aspect of the actor’s career. Ongoing classes meet once per week for three, four or five weeks, depending on the month. While our Essentials, Intensives, Clinics, and Ongoing acting classes focus aggressively on your acting-related issues, many of you quietly suffer from vocal issues that keep you from booking work even when your acting is superb. For several years we’ve been promoting Matt Beisner’s voice classes, and now we are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with his VOICE CLUB!

in order to offer classes that focus specifically on vocal production! You will learn a daily, ten to twelve minute vocal warm-up consisting of 21 detailed, physical exercises that will enable you – once and for all – to effortlessly create beautiful sound through the release of your breath. While actors often see changes almost immediately, the exercises do take some time to take hold – most people have years of poor vocal habits. The Acting Essentials class meets twice a week for eight weeks, and is taught by LK&Co.

Tommy Chong reflects on pot’s evolution as he turns 80

LOS ANGELES – Yeah man, Tommy Chong says he always knew he’d live to see the day marijuana legalization would be sweeping America. He even knew in 2003 when Chong was imprisoned for nine months for conspiring to distribute handcrafted artisanal bongs the government declared drug paraphernalia. So much so that when the High Priest of Stoner Comedy turns 80 on Thursday – that’s right, 80 – he expects his Chong’s Choice brand of marijuana, available in legal dispensaries in several states, will be consumed in abundance at the parties his family is planning. Not that he was ever a heavy pot user, Chong says, just a consistent connoisseur. When no other hits followed, Motown dropped the group, and the Canadian-born Chong returned to Vancouver, British Columbia, where he ran a pair of strip clubs with his brother.

Motown had helped Chong obtain a green card, and the two headed to fame and fortune in Los Angeles. On a recent early morning, Chong answers the door for a photo shoot at his longtime home in the hills overlooking L.A.’s wealthy Brentwood section, arriving in gray jeans, sandals and a black T-shirt advertising the name of a Colorado cannabis dispensary he recently visited. As a photographer sets up, Chong polishes off a breakfast of oatmeal topped with sliced banana. In recent years, he’s become a vegetarian, although he backslides. Chong, whose father emigrated from China before World War II, mostly identifies culturally as Chinese, although he’s equally proud of his Scotch, Irish and Native American ancestry from his mother’s side.

Before the pair’s bitter 1980s breakup, Cheech and Chong dominated comedy for 15 years. Those efforts generally ended in angry, insult-laden exchanges until 10 years ago when Paris Chong intervened.

Up in smoke: Jeff Sessions intensifies crackdown on marijuana sale

Four days after the recreational sale of cannabis became legal in California, Attorney General Jeff Sessions lifted an Obama-era policy that allowed states to legalize marijuana with minimal federal interference. Memos issued by the Department of Justice under President Barack Obama discouraged the enforcement of federal marijuana laws in states that had legalized the drug. Sessions rescinded this guidance in a memo of his own sent to U.S. attorneys. President of Berkeley Patients Group, or BPG, the longest continuously operating medical cannabis dispensary in the country, said BPG has the support of local and state officials.

California lawmakers across the political spectrum spoke out against Sessions’ memo. Comprehensive regulations about the sale of marijuana are expected to come to Berkeley City Council by April, according to Chakko. Anjali Shrivastava covers academics and administration.

Watch The ‘First Ever’ Marijuana Commercial To Air On Major Television Stations – ThinkProgress

Although medical marijuana is legal in New Jersey - the state started issuing medical marijuana identification cards in 2012 - adult patients currently have greater access to the drug than children. One family recently decided to move from New Jersey to Colorado to ensure their daughter would have access to the liquefied marijuana she uses to stave off potentially fatal seizures. Child marijuana patients in New Jersey are technically allowed to access edible marijuana, but marijuana in this form isn’t generally available at New Jersey dispensaries. Gov. Chris Christie recently rejected a bill that would have permitted families in a similar situation to buy marijuana in other states and transport it home to New Jersey.

Tom Papa – The Deer Hunter – This Is Not Happening – Uncensored

Super High Me Movie

This was the official site for Doug Benson’s Super High Me. In the 2007 documentary film, comedian Doug Benson documents not smoking pot for 30 days and then smoking pot for 30 days in a row. Doug Benson is an American comedian who has appeared on Comedy Central Presents, Best Week Ever, and most recently as a contestant on Last Comic Standing. Everything Doug Benson did in Super High Me is legal in California. Super High Me features comedian Doug Benson and explores the current situation with medical marijuana in California and the United States, specifically focusing on the conflict between federal and state law and the explosive growth in medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles over the past two years.

Comedian Doug Benson smokes marijuana for 30 days to see what, if any, the harmful effects of habitual cannabis use are. For a fellow who has made a name for himself as a stoner comedian, taking pot away from Benson is like snatching a teddy bear out of a child’s grasp. How Benson fits into the argument is left to the imagination, since his purpose in the film is to get high as a kite and travel. 30 days of constant weed inhalation and digestion leaves Benson in a quite a smiley fog. The film’s comedy, both in Benson’s act and in his daily life, relies heavily on one’s appreciation for pot humor. Doug Benson, a stand-up comic you may know from VH1, got the idea to make a documentary about himself smoking weed for 30 days.

Doug Benson is funny as are his friends who appear and even the studies are funny. Benson is likable and wholesome, and the movie is pleasant and funny.

As one of the state’s chief public opponents of legal weed, Morgan has been quoted in publications like the LA Times, and one of the groups with which he is associated, the Coalition for a Drug Free California, is occasionally newsworthy. According to Reason, he’s probably one of the most important people in the state’s marijuana legalization resistance movement in 2016-a year in which the movement may capitulate. In an article for the Times-Herald, Morgan laid out all the details of his crusade against pot. For a guy who insists he does not smoke weed … Morgan really seems like he came up with most of his ideas hunched over a bong at 2:00 a.m., muttering about black helicopters.

It’d be hard to debunk every paranoid idea to flow out of Morgan’s mouth, but a few quick pointers. Serious marijuana dependence is relatively rare, and tends to be not as serious as use of other drugs. Attempting to confirm Morgan’s theory, Reason found evidence of just six weed-smoking shooters in 23 mass shootings since 2011. ISIS propaganda sometimes features ISIS fighters burning marijuana fields. Lest you leave with the impression Morgan is some kind of joke – he’s not.

To put it another way, people like Morgan might not be winning the public debate over marijuana, but they are propping up a very real national status quo of police slamming people in jail for smoking a joint. Morgan is not that much of an anomaly among the ignominious company of many historical prohibitionists. That’s not particularly funny and neither is a guy like Roger Morgan.

Medical marijuana RX?

A new medical guideline suggests family doctors should think twice before prescribing medical marijuana to their patients. The Simplified Guideline for Prescribing Medical Cannabinoids in Primary Care, published Thursday in the medical journal Canadian Family Physician, says there is limited evidence to support the reported benefits of medical marijuana for many conditions. It adds that any benefit could be balanced or even outweighed by the potential harm. The guideline was created by a committee of 10 researchers after an in-depth review of clinical trials. It was peer reviewed by 40 others, including doctors, pharmacists, nurses and patients.

They looked at medical marijuana for treatment of pain, muscle tightness and stiffness, and nausea and vomiting, as well as at its side effects. The committee found acceptable research for use of medical marijuana for some conditions including nerve pain, palliative cancer pain, muscle stiffness related to multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury, and nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy. The researchers suggested pharmaceuticals derived from cannabis be tried before smoked marijuana to control dosage. The committee also found that side effects – including sedation, dizziness and confusion – were common and consistent. Jonathan Zaid, the executive director of patient advocacy group Canadians for Fair Access to Medical Marijuana, said it’s always good to have a review of the research.

He suggested medical cannabis is working for more than 200,000 Canadians.

How This E-Cig Franchise Is Moving Into Marijuana

In the series finale of the Showtime comedy Weeds, marijuana is legalized, and housewife-turned-drug dealer Nancy Botwin builds a 50-unit chain of pot cafes that she eventually sells to Starbucks. With legalization in Colorado and Washington in full swing, and with referendums passed in Alaska, Oregon and Washington, D.C., Paul is prepping his 20-unit, Tulsa, Okla.-based e-cigarette franchise to get ahead of the game in case pot laws fall across the country. The non-narcotic hemp base can be mixed evenly with high-strength cannabis oil. We aren’t actually selling marijuana or cannabis oil. Instead, if a franchisee lives in a state where marijuana is legal, we license them the M-System technology and our know-how.

We’ll help them find wholesalers and set up those types of relationships where they can produce their own cannabis oils. If someone buys a Palm Beach Vapors shop, they are buying an e-cigarette business. If they want to add marijuana if it becomes legal in their area, they can, but they won’t be required to. Yes! In the e-cigarette market today, the bad guy in the juice is the propylene glycol.

I think there will be a marriage of the e-cigarette and marijuana industries in the near future, and we want to be in the center for that merge. I think the barriers will continue to fall, and marijuana will be a big part of the next presidential election. If there’s some sort of crackdown, we will still survive as an e-cigarette franchise.

Marijuana Stand-Up Comedy – Tere Joyce Last Comic Standing

Romantic Comedy Movies for Marijuana

Relationships are a big part of stoner comedies and the common theme is the friction between men and women regarding pot use. As marijuana use in America continues to come out into the open, a slew of movies has examined this romantic dynamic, shaping popular discourse and entertaining stoners and non-stoners alike. In Half Baked, Dave Chappelle’s love interest, Mary Jane, doesn’t approve of his ganja smoking, which forces him to choose between his two lady loves. In Road Trip, Smart is the sexy co-ed who gets in between Breckin Meyer and his out-of-state girlfriend. The more mature the movie, the more likely marijuana is there to create tension between the characters. In order to appeal to Katherine Heigl’s Alison in Knocked Up, Seth Rogen’s Ben Stone has to distance himself from his stoner friends. Other films where pot plays a leading role include Van Wilder, where Ryan Reynolds’ campus party animal character woos Tara Reid, and American Beauty, where Kevin Spacey’s Lester rediscovers pot, to the consternation of his adulterous wife Carolyn. More recently, marijuana has a negative effect on Lyle and Nina in the Brooklyn indie Newlyweeds. Sometimes it’s better when weed plays a neutral role in movies. One of the top-grossing stoner films of all time, We’re the Millers, features Jason Sudeikis as a Denver pot dealer who gets ripped off and has to pay his connection by smuggling an RV stuffed with mota from Mexico into the U.S. Jennifer Aniston’s stripper character Rose comes along for the ride.

Judge Doobie: on the set of The High Court with Doug Benson

When visiting the set of the new Comedy Central series The High Court with Doug Benson – a parody of daytime courtroom shows such as Judge Judy – the thing that stood out was the ventilation system designed to filter out smoke. Benson, a standup comic best known for his podcast Getting Doug with High and the documentary Super High Me, is the drug-fueled mind behind the new series. He’s made a substantial comedy career out of embracing marijuana culture at a time when weed is the most socially acceptable it’s ever been, and on the verge of being legal in California. At first glance, one wouldn’t even guess that anything remarkable was afoot on the set, save for the generally sleepy faces of Benson and this episode’s guest bailiff, Brandon Wardell. Any fantasies of a free contact high disappear thanks to that damn ventilation system. Each of the 20 first season episodes of the High Court is a scant 15 minutes long, making it feel more like a deep cut Adult Swim show than the standard Comedy Central fare. After an uninterrupted 15-minute take in the courtroom, Benson, Wardell and Kellison get together to discuss what they might have missed and what they can pick up. Benson and Wardell are as confused about the particulars of the case as I am, though they have a medicinal reason for it. The High Court is not the first, nor will it be the last, TV show to center itself around conspicuous consumption of marijuana. The High Court with Doug Benson starts at midnight tonight ET on Comedy Central.

Harmony Korine Wants to Show His Matthew McConaughey Stoner Comedy The Beach Bum in Theaters Full of Marijuana Smoke

Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg’s new stoner film The Beach Bum will truly be an experience. That’s because director Harmony Korine plans to show it with-bongo drum roll-puffs of marijuana smoke in the air in the theaters. Impressively, the trailblazing auteur has currently secured 30 rooms in which he’ll be able to do so. It is possible in some states, such as California, that have legalized this drug for. We already have about thirty rooms that have accepted. It’s likely though that none of those rooms are in Miami, Florida, where The Beach Bum is filming and where recreational marijuana use is not yet legal. No doubt McConaughey will have an easy time slipping into the mindset of that character as the actor famously lived through a somewhat public depressive marijuana smoking episode. It was the marijuana, bong and pipe that got him into trouble when the cops arrived, who later booked him on suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting transportation.

Netflix Orders Chuck Lorre and Kathy Bates Pot Comedy

If there’s one constant in this crazy, meaningless world, it’s Netflix throwing money at new projects like they can’t give the dough away fast enough. On Wednesday, the streaming giant ordered to series Disjointed, a new comedy from The Big Bang Theory’s Chuck Lorre set at an L.A.-based pot dispensary. Oscar and Emmy winner Kathy Bates will star as the dispensary’s proprietor. The series, which was originally shopped around to the networks before landing at Netflix, is a multi-camera comedy co-written by Lorre and David Javerbaum. In addition to Bates’ pot-shop owner, the workplace comedy will feature the shop’s three budtenders, Bates’ character’s 20-something-year-old son and the shop’s security guard. Disjointed is Netflix’s third multi-cam series, the first two being the Ashton Kutcher-led series The Ranch and the wildly successful Fuller House.

Netflix stubs out weed comedy Disjointed – TBI Vision

Netflix has axed marijuana store comedy Disjointed after one season on the platform. The multi-camera comedy series hosts Kathy Bates as a lifelong advocate for legalisation who’s finally living her dream as the owner of an LA cannabis dispensary. Disjointed received a 20-episode first season order at the streamer in 2016, with the first half of the season debuting this past August and the second half premiering in January. Despite its seemingly edgy themes, the sitcom format is closer to creator Chuck Lorre’s other shows such as Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory than most SVOD comedies. Lorre and Daily Show alum David Javerbaum served as writers and executive producers on the series, with Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Lorre is also prepping comedy series The Kominsky Method for Netflix, starring Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin.
