Medical marijuana dispensaries are still new to Somerville, and Revolutionary Clinics-recently opened in East Somerville-is aiming to make getting educated fun. The dispensary hosts patient education nights every Thursday, and this week is hosting a free, marijuana-themed comedy show featuring comedians from Greater Boston. He’s been doing comedy since 1994, and got involved with ImprovBoston when he moved to the area in 2014. The show will feature storytelling and stand-up comedy. The performers-Laura Clark, Lauren Brown, Alan Richardson, Pamela Ross, and Wes Hazard-will share funny stories about their experiences with marijuana.

While the performance will focus more on anecdotes than straight information, Fear says that comedy is a great way to communicate about marijuana. The show is free and there’s free parking available.

Police Officers in Argentina say Mice ate missing Marijuana

Police officers in Argentina have claimed mice ate 540kg of marijuana which disappeared from a police warehouse, Guardian reports, adding that eight officers have been dismissed following the discovery. 6,000kg of marijuana has been in storage for 2 years, but when officers returned for inspection, only 5,460kg was found. It is suspected that former Police Commissioner Javier Specia had knowledge on how the drugs went missing as he had left the inventory for the impounded marijuana unsigned when he left his post in April 2017. Specia and 3 other officers have been called to testify before a judge on May 4. Specia’s successor Emilio Portero, noticed the reduction in the amount of marijuana and notified the force’s internal affairs division, who inspected the warehouse.

What Is the Best Way to Smoke Weed?

Stoners have argued and debated about the best way to smoke weed for decades. Everyone should now how to roll a decent joint, even if they don’t smoke. Knowing how to roll a joint is a life skill, like knowing how to change a tire or how to poach an egg. Pipes are probably the most convenient way to smoke marijuana. A good hit from a clean pipe is my preferred method for fancy-pants weed tasting.

My friend Michael Backes, author of Cannabis Pharmacy: The Practical Guide to Medical Marijuana recommends a good hit from a clean glass pipe. One good inhale and exhale should give you exactly what you need. The nicotine from the cigar wrapper and the THC from the cannabis combine to give an intense high. Blunts aren’t for everyone, and be careful that you don;t develop a nicotine addiction to go along with your cannabis habit. Maybe people claim that a good vape gives the best flavor, but I feel like the high from a vaporized cannabis is not the same as the high from incinerating the whole flower.

California marijuana CEO resigns following #PermitPatty controversy

The CEO of a California marijuana company resigned abruptly Tuesday after several days of controversy spawned by a viral video in which she appeared to be calling police to report an 8-year-old girl who was selling bottled water without a permit in San Francisco. TreatWell, based in San Francisco, manufactures marijuana tinctures for humans and pets. Ettel sparked a national firestorm last week when she allegedly threatened to call authorities on Erin Austin and her daughter Jordan because the girl was selling water without a permit to people on their way to a San Francisco Giants game at AT&T Park. Some of the criticism surrounding Ettel stemmed from the fact she is white and the girl is African-American. The hashtag #PermitPatty began trending on Twitter over the weekend as a nickname for Ettel, and she garnered criticism from nearly every corner of the country.

Ettel was even lampooned by Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. TreatWell was also dropped by multiple California retailers, and it was unclear whether the company would be able to survive the controversy.

RTD to double trains on G-line tracks between Denver and Arvada as testing ramps up

Residents of the west Denver suburbs will notice more trains on the tracks for RTD’s yet-to-open G-line beginning Thursday as the transit district moves into the next phase of testing. The commuter rail line, which will provide service from downtown Denver to Arvada, Wheat Ridge and parts of Adams County, has now been federally approved to carry six trains for up to 10 hours a day, RTD said in a news release. The trains will run along the 11.2-mile train line roughly every 15 minutes between 3 a.m. and 1 p.m., according to RTD. The new testing doubles the amount of trains and the frequency with which they run over the previous phase that began July 20.

The district is ramping up to a full service day’s worth of testing, a period of 21 consecutive hours. The public is asked to abide by proper safety protocols around the tracks. The G-line was originally expected to open in fall 2016 but safety concerns have repeatedly delayed it.

Does Marijuana Cause Permanent Brain Damage in Adults?

Below is an approximation of this video’s audio content. You don’t know, until you put it to the test. For a few hours after smoking, one’s learning, memory, and attention may also be impaired. The same with cognitive impairments-gone within a month or two after stopping, unless they started regularly using as a teen. Those with the most persistent cannabis use starting as an adolescent may end up losing up to eight IQ points-significantly more than if they started as an adult, and even if they then quit, starting that young appears to cause permanent brain damage.

Sounds like if you start using as an adult there don’t seem to be any irreversible neurological problems-unless, perhaps, you smoke like 16 joints a day. In 2017, a study was published on extreme chronic and heavy cannabis use, and their poor brains really did seem to go to pot. This was at 10 times the average daily dose in Colorado-for example, a total lifetime consumption of around 75,000 joints.

Cheech and Chong Say ‘Pot’s Over’ Now That Republicans Like John Boehner Are Supporting Marijuana Reform

The age of marijuana’s rebellious and cool status is officially over, according to Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. It all started when late-night host Colbert asked Marin and Chong what they thought about the push for legalized pot now that Republicans like former House Speaker John Beohner-a longtime opponent of marijuana reform-were starting to support pot’s legalization. The company grows and sells legal marijuana and services 11 states. According to 68-year-old Boehner, he decided to join the company in effort to get veterans legal access to the drug. Although Beohner’s newfound acceptance of marijuana raised eyebrows, his sentiments regarding the medical value of the plant falls in line with a growing number of Americans who believe patients and adults should be able to legally consume cannabis.

A Pew Research Center report in January found 61 percent of U.S. adults were in favor of legal marijuana.

Thursday: Hili dialogue « Why Evolution Is True

On August 2, 1610, Henry Hudson, during his futile search for the Northwest Passage, stumbled onto what is now called Hudson’s Bay. July 4, regarded by many Americans as the day the Declaration was signed, was actually when it was ratified by Congress. On this day in 1790, the first official U.S. census was conducted. At that time the population was recorded as 3,929,326.

On this day in 1934, Adolf Hitler became Führer of Germany after President von Hindenburg died. A black day for stoners: on August 2, 1937, the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 was passed, making marijuana and all its products illegal. It was on this day in 1939 that Albert Einstein and Leo Szilard wrote their famous letter to Franklin Roosevelt, urging him to start developing a nuclear weapon. It was on August 2, 1943 that the the motor torpedo boat PT-109 was sunk by a Japanese destroyer, cutting it in half and killing one man. The men were rescued after 6 days on the island and Kennedy became a war hero, helping get him elected as President two decades down the line.

Finally, on this day in 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait, precipitating the Gulf War. Hili seems sagacious-in her own way! Another tweet from First Amendment lawyer Marc Randazza; read the piece!

State officials: Ohio’s medicinal marijuana program won’t be ready by deadline

Delays in inspections and licenses for growers mean Ohio won’t make a Sept. 8 deadline for implementation of the 2016 law legalizing medicinal marijuana, state officials say. Officials with the Ohio Department of Commerce today admitted that the state will not be ready to roll out its medicinal marijuana program by a previously-stated Sept. 8 deadline. After lawmakers passed a law legalizing medicinal marijuana in 2016, Ohio officials last November licensed 25 growers across the state to cultivate marijuana for medicinal use. None have begun planting crops yet because they haven’t received the necessary state certifications to do so. Only one – Pure Ohio Wellness LLC – has received a required state inspection.

That leaves little time to begin the planting, processing and packaging needed so that medicinal weed will be available at dispensaries by the deadline. License holders for those dispensaries were named yesterday. The state says that three smaller growers are set for inspections this month and that five larger growers and one additional small grower will be inspected in July, clearing the way to issue certificates of operation that will allow growers to plant their crops. Department of Commerce officials blame the delay on weather and construction setbacks. The delay also comes after a variety of controversies, scoring errors and legal challenges around the way the state awarded medicinal marijuana licenses.

Marijuana is a term used to describe the dried flowers, leaves, stems, and seeds from the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica plant. Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the United States. Societal changes including greater acceptance of marijuana use have led to its legalization for medicinal or adult recreational use. More than half the states in the U.S. have some sort of medical marijuana law.

The medical marijuana movement’s first big victory came in 1996, with the legalization for medicinal use by California voters. Polls show support for medical marijuana ranging from 60 to more than 80 percent. A 2009 roundup of clinical evidence for the efficacy of medical marijuana was published as a landmark article in the Journal of Opioid Management. Notably absent from medical marijuana patients in the published trials, in contrast to opiate drugs, are withdrawal symptoms and other signs of addiction. Given the scientific and medical evidence available, it seems that much of the corporate resistance to medical marijuana may spring from Big Pharma concerns over lost profits instead of from safety concerns.

Archaeologists sifting through the contents of bronze urns from Scythian culture have found marijuana seeds. Marijuana is still illegal for recreational use in 42 U.S. states. Twenty-two states haven’t even gotten around to passing compassionate medical marijuana laws.

There are hundreds of marijuana related magazines that are currently being published. If you have any suggestions of magazines we might of over looked please feel free to leave us a comment at the bottom of the article. High Times magazine defaults to number one on the list because they are the oldest known marijuana magazine. The first time I ever saw what dank bud looks like was in a picture in High times Magazine. Cloud Magazine is Kind of like Hightimes meets MAXIM Magazine.

All the girls in Cloud Magazine are Ganja Girls From HTGB. Cloud Magazine focuses on the entertainment side of marijuana and tries to stay away from the politics. Skunk Magazine is a pretty high quality magazine that focuses on entertainment and a celebrity’s in marijuana plus maybe a little bit of politics. Its a pretty hefty magazine that uses good quality paper. Kush magazine is probably the most high quality magazine on this list as it has the most pages and really high quality pictures as well as being book bound.

Kush magazine is owned and operated by dailybuds.com and features articles about politics and celebrity’s in the marijuana movement. 420 Magazine is a pretty decent magazine featuring celebrity interviews and politics surrounding marijuana. The reasons why this magazine is worth mentioning is because it has main stream quality as far as the printing goes and i also respect that they got 7-ll to distribute them.

How ‘Rick and Morty’ Season 3 Became the #1 Comedy on TV

Rick and Morty was the top-rated TV comedy in 2017, beating out Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory and Saturday Night Live. Christina Miller, president of Adult Swim, believes something special is happening between Rick and Morty and its dedicated millennial audience. Of course, if Rick and Morty is this generation’s definitive sitcom, that means millions of young people love how depraved and nihilistic it is. Pickle Rick, a version of Rick teased for weeks by Adult Swim before his episode aired in 2017.See all of the best photos of the week. Rick is a high-functioning alcoholic mad scientist, driven to explore a multiverse he deeply hates because he believes the meaning of life is the pursuit of science.

As the show gets more complicated, we learn that Rick and Morty’s bond is so strong that it carries over into every possible alternate reality. A Rick, no matter the dimension, is never without his Morty. Morty argues with Rick during a Season 3 episode satirizing Marvel’s Avengers. Miller says Adult Swim has never had a hit so monstrous as Rick and Morty. Adult Swim released a companion mobile game, Pocket Mortys, in 2016, while most fans were waiting for a Season 3 release date.

As part of Adult Swim’s goal to reach fans in person, a Rickmobile vehicle and pop-up shop toured in advance of Season 3, visiting 40 cities and selling out Rick and Morty merchandise to fans who often lined up overnight. Jessica Gao, another Rick and Morty writer, says the show is successful because it’s surprisingly intelligent.

Funny pot smokers marijuana comedy Ep51Part3

Marijuana-friendly campuses? I don’t think so …

In the run-up to the legalization of recreational marijuana in Canada on Oct. 17, 2018, many universities and colleges are still in a wait-and-see position concerning marijuana use on campus. TRU’s 20-person Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, of which I am a member, unanimously voted on March 5, 2018, to ban all smoking of marijuana products on campus – for health and safety reasons. Pro-marijuana smokers on the TRU committee argued that marijuana smoke is no different than cigarette smoke and that smoking areas designated for cigarette smoke should also be used for marijuana. Naive bystanders cannot tell the potency of the marijuana smoked just by smell alone. Most animal studies demonstrate the ease with which such second- hand marijuana smoke can negatively affect behaviour.

Very few know that marijuana smoke has 300 to 500 per cent more carcinogens than tobacco smoke. Marijuana has been linked to addiction, drops in grades, slips and falls and car accidents. The JOHSC at Thompson Rivers University is considering individual ingestion of medical marijuana – via brownies, gummy bears or pills – on campus because the consumption of such medicinal products doesn’t negatively impact others directly. Marijuana is an intoxicant and therefore is analogous to drinking alcohol on campus. Smoking marijuana should therefore fall under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act Section 40, 1996, chapter 267.

As TRU did not allow the open consumption of alcohol in public places on campus, neither would it allow marijuana to be smoked on campus. Marijuana has been linked to impaired motor co-ordination, altered judgment and risky sexual behaviour.

Medical cannabis was legalized in California way back in 1996 with Prop. Now two years years into recreational, the medical cannabis market hasn’t disappeared. More municipalities are in favor of MMJ. Current numbers show that only 14% allow recreational cannabis dispensaries and 19% allow recreational cannabis deliveries, while 20% allow storefront medical dispensaries and 32% allow medical cannabis deliveries. As a MMJ patient, you’re allowed to buy and possess more cannabis due to less restrictive purchase limits and increased possession limits.

There’s significant legal framework protecting medical cannabis patients. You’re allowed to grow more of your own cannabis; dispensaries can only give free cannabis to medical cannabis patients; and you’re protected from prosecution, as long as you posses/carry/grow the legal limit. Cannabis is still illegal for anyone under the age of 21 without a medical cannabis card. If you are, you’ll need a medical cannabis card to buy marijuana anywhere in California. You’re also protected by HIPPA regulations so your medical cannabis records won’t show up in a background or pre-employment check.

A medical marijuana ID card, or MMIC, is state-issued and puts you in a California database with a unique ID number; no personal and private info required! Plus, as mentioned, it saves you from state or local cannabis sales taxes. These cannabis experts are available everyday to address any questions or concerns you have about being a marijuana patient – legislation, products, prices, storefront vs cannabis delivery like Nugg. Check out NuggMD today and find out for yourself if medical cannabis right for you!

Museum Dedicated To Comedy Opens In Lucille Ball’s Hometown

Celebrate all comedy, and establish Jamestown as a destination for that. She’s executive director of the brand-new National Comedy Center. Gunderson says it’s chock-full of comedy history. GUNDERSON: In the first wing alone visitors encounter a dress and joke cards from Phyllis Diller, Joan Rivers’ personal and creative papers, Jack Benny’s tuxedo, Charlie Chaplin’s cane, Seinfeld’s puffy shirt and Emmy award, Harold Ramis’…. CORNISH: Whether you’re a casual fan or a comedy nerd, Gunderson says there’s enough within the walls of the National Comedy Center to keep you occupied for days.

No. CORNISH: Joking aside, Black says his favorite part of the collection is George Carlin’s extensive personal archive. BLACK: You’ll see notes that he wrote of his comedy sketches. CORNISH: It’s a peek into the process of a comedy genius, something Black says is important to save for the next generation. BLACK: There’s a real possibility that a lot of the work in terms of comedy, in terms of the history of comedy is going to get lost.

So what this provided was a space in which that through line could be maintained and expanded on so that a kid could go back and see if they’re doing comedy or they love comedy, you know, where it came from. Lewis Black has been coming to the area for a long time for the annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. If you’re devoted to comedy, the trip is well worth it. CORNISH: The National Comedy Center is open as of this week in Lucille Ball’s hometown, Jamestown, N.Y. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR..

Comedy finally has a home

It may be as good a reason as any for the construction of the new high-tech center devoted to what has made people laugh from Vaudeville to now. The nonprofit center in Jamestown was inspired by hometown hero, Lucille Ball, who envisioned a place where comedy would be celebrated as an art form. The city of about 30,000 people in the southwest corner of New York already is home to the annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival and the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum. Located in a repurposed 1930 art-deco train station, the center is part museum, part hall of fame and part video arcade, keeping visitors smiling as they move through displays of comedic artifacts. There also are plenty of chances to laugh at the pros in action.

A club-like comedy lounge shows stand-up bits, and a movie theater has clips of classic scenes with celebrity commentary. A hologram theater initially will feature Jim Gaffigan’s evolution as a performer. The 37,000-square-foot, $50 million center received $9 million in funding from New York state, along with private and federal support. The House of Representatives on July 23 unanimously approved a bill designating it as the nation’s official comedy center. U.S.

Sen. Charles Schumer, whose cousin, comedian Amy Schumer is in the opening-week lineup, is working on Senate action. He is part of the center’s largely celebrity advisory board, along with Gaffigan, Carl Reiner, Laraine Newman, W. Kamau Bell, Paula Poundstone and others. Among displays is the trench coat Lenny Bruce would wear in anticipation of going from stage to jail.

Marijuana VS. Crystal Meth – Funny but true video

FDA Approves Marijuana-Based Pharmaceutical Drug

FDA Approves Marijuana-Based Pharmaceutical Drug : Shots – Health News For the first time, the FDA has approved a drug containing CBD, an extract of marijuana. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a marijuana-derived drug for the treatment of two rare and serious forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, that begin in childhood but can persist in adulthood. The drug is made from purified cannabidiol, or CBD, a compound found in the cannabis plant. The drug will be marketed under the brand name Epidiolex.

CBD has medicinal effects, but it does not cause the mind-altering high that comes from THC, the primary psychoactive component of marijuana. The FDA says this is the first drug approved in the U.S. that contains a purified substance derived from marijuana. The agency has previously approved drugs made from synthetic versions of THC and other marijuana constituents. They’re not regulated the way pharmaceutical drugs are, so the consistency and dose can vary widely.

Having an FDA-approved, pharmaceutical-grade CBD drug will open up a new treatment option for epilepsy patients by delivering a high-quality, consistent dose of CBD, says Robert Carson a pediatric neurologist at Vanderbilt University who treats patients with epilepsy. The approval of Epidiolex may help open the door to more CBD research, as it helps to lift one regulatory hurdle. Until now, the Drug Enforcement Administration has classified CBD as a Schedule 1 substance. With the approval of a CBD drug, the DEA will change this, according to Dr. Douglas Throckmorton, deputy director of regulatory programs at the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research,.

Marijuana Is LSD

Marijuana is one of the less potent psychoactive drugs. Yes, in their universe, marijuana is LSD. It is worth mentioning that large doses of marijuana can produce hallucinations in some people. It’s a matter of debate whether second-hand marijuana smoke has any real effects, beyond giving some people a splitting headache and nausea from the smell. Justified in one case of Detective Conan, where the marijuana that drove a manor full of society elites into a murderous frenzy is said to have been laced with something far more dangerous.

Class of Nuke ‘Em High has an excuse for this-the marijuana was grown next to the nuclear power plant. In the early seventies educational film Focus on LSD, marijuana and hashish are listed as psychedelic drugs along with LSD, mescaline, peyote, STP and psilocybin. In How High, smoking marijuana and smoking a dead president causes a spirit to appear and communicate. Touch of Evil treats marijuana as just about the most dangerous drug out there. As if he’d never heard of a pot brownie…

Author J.T. Edson was violently opposed to marijuana and any time it is portrayed in his novels, it is shown in a negative light. Monk thinks he’s inhaled some weed smoke when he ends up catching Jimmy Belmont in the act of destroying marijuana crops that Harvey Disher had threatened to turn him in for, and starts freaking out. Party Down is pretty good about portraying drugs realistically and it’s specifically mentioned that Roman ingested about a tenth of an ounce of high-grade marijuana. Another episode features men in town deliberately getting testicular cancer in order to be able to legally buy marijuana from the local seller.

US Territory Considers Legal Marijuana Bill

New campaign finance reports received this week by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission. This is a sharp contrast to previous marijuana ballot measure campaigns in other states in which supporters have usually heavily outraised and outspent opponents. The main pro-PAC, Vote Yes On 788., registered on December 7, 2017 and got a head-start on fundraising and campaigning, raising $31,279. Their biggest donor by far was New Health Solutions Oklahoma, with a cash infusion of $130,000 and in-kind donations of legal services, office space, t-shirt printing, printing and fundraisers totaling $90,903. Didn’t even register until May 15, 2018, about 10 weeks before the vote.

The Oklahoma State Medical Association and Hospital Association and also pitched in, to the tune of $75,000 and $25,000, respectively. The largest individual donor, the retired President of Mercedes Benz of Oklahoma, gave $50,000. All of the donations came from the two people who founded the PAC, and all of the expenses went to filing fee to create the PAC, plus bank fees and mileage reimbursement. Following the passage of the ballot measure, its backers were dismayed by the way the Oklahoma State Department of Health took up implementing regulations. Approval of the medical marijuana ballot initiative marked the second time in recent years that Oklahoma voters surprised state lawmakers and law enforcement by approving a drug policy reform measure.

A group collecting signatures to get state question 797, a full marijuana legalization measure, on the ballot in November says they have reached their goal. If you value staying updated on cannabis news, please start a monthly Patreon pledge to support Marijuana Moment!

Tyler Chronicles On Marijuana’s Influence In Comedy

State issues first marijuana license, steady flow predicted

BOSTON – State regulators voted unanimously Thursday to grant the state’s first recreational marijuana business license to a marijuana grower in Milford. The license approved by the Cannabis Control Commission on Thursday will allow Sira Naturals to grow between 10,001 and 20,000 square feet of marijuana at their indoor facility at 13 Commercial Way in Milford. Sira Naturals already grows marijuana for medical patients at its Milford cultivation facility and operates medical dispensaries in Cambridge, Somerville and Needham. The company grows more than 60 strains of marijuana and turns it into cookies, caramels and other edibles. The CCC has had the authority to issue business licenses to marijuana companies since June 1 and expects that retail sales will begin on or around July 1, even though the regulators have not yet licensed any retail shops.

CCC Chairman Steven Hoffman said Thursday that the CCC expects to consider license applications at its meetings for the foreseeable future. CCC Executive Director Shawn Collins said Sira Naturals plans to be fully operational within four months of being licensed, though he noted that the company is already growing marijuana for medical use and has the ability to transfer some of that product to the adult use market. The provisional license is conditional upon a fingerprint-based check of state and federal criminal databases, payment of the $5,000 annual license fee, a certification that the company is in compliance with the Department of Public Health’s regulations for medical marijuana, and other conditions. Sira Naturals submitted its application to the CCC before any other companies, on April 18, and the CCC received word from Milford June 8 that the company is following all local zoning ordinances and town bylaws, Collins said.

Event Curator Shows Marijuana’s Feminine Mystique

Katie Partlow wants to show the softer side of cannabis. As the founder of the Los Angeles events company The Black Dahlia, Partlow is fast building a nationwide reputation as she blends entertainment and information at her weed-centric private parties. By bringing a cross section of cannabis vendors, activists, and educators into a diverse mix of guests, she aims to stretch the demographics and knowledge of marijuana. Previous events have combined cannabis vendors with art, food, live music, sound baths, burlesque, and drag. Her first public event, the February 2016 Comedy, Cake and Cannabis, featured stand-up comics and a mirrored maze of rooms decorated like oversized wedding cakes in a downtown Los Angeles art gallery.

At its heart, the Sunday afternoon party in late May 2018 was a gently subversive, taboo-busting exploration of the ways women, and particularly mothers, can use cannabis products. Fresh marijuana leaves optional – with The Flower Daddy, or relaxed through an abbreviated tea ceremony and session of Lit Yoga, currently California’s only cannabis-and-yoga studio. Each session illustrated how cannabis fits into a responsible, wellness-focused lifestyle. Her events’ wellness themes were further inspired by Partlow’s mother, who found pain relief in cannabis, guided by her daughter’s knowledge. Vendor Doreen Sullivan, founder of My Bud Vase, used her decades of experience as a marketer and single mother in Charleston, South Carolina, to bridge a gap she identified in the cannabis market.

Because most bongs are awkward, obvious, and phallic, the Los Angeles native began making decorative bongs from flower vases that bring a feminine, and discreet, look to the paraphernalia. This post has been updated to clarify the details of Partlow’s first event.

Marijuana users feel MORE pain: They may develop a lower pain tolerance

Marijuana users may develop a lower pain tolerance, new research suggests. A small study found people who use cannabis require higher doses of painkillers than non users after major traumatic event like a car crash. This new research conducted in Colorado – which was the first state to legalize – suggests that short-term pain relief could weaken the body’s resilience to pain over time. Frequently abusing the substance also significantly reduces a user’s ability to resist socially unacceptable behavior when provoked, the research adds. Study author Josiane Bourque from the University of Montreal, said: ‘Our findings confirm that becoming a more regular marijuana user during adolescence is associated with a risk of psychotic symptoms.

Of these, 54 tested positive for recent marijuana use while 16 claimed they used the drug more or less every day. On average, the marijuana users required 7.6mg of opioid painkillers a day in hospital, compared to 5.6mg for non-drug users. On a scale of zero-to-10, with 10 being the worst, people who had used cannabis rated their daily pain as 4.9, compared to 4.2 for non users. This could cause marijuana users to stay in hospital longer because ‘we don’t want to discharge them on massive doses of narcotics’, said Dr Anne Wagner, from the UCHealth Burn Center, Colorado, who was not involved in the study. Users may also experience drug withdrawal, such as nausea and vomiting, which can delay healing.

Lead author Kristin Salottolo added: ‘Marijuana users in need of pain control deserve special consideration when selecting the dosage and frequency of narcotics ‘. The researchers add further studies are required to determine how best to ease discomfort in cannabis users.

Granddaddy Purple :Marijuana Strain Information, History & Facts

Everybody else in the United States seems to be getting in on the reefer madness, so we’ve decided to do the same by introducing a new franchise: Weed Strain of the Week. In one of the earliest scenes of the movie, Saul explains to Dale how fire his newest strain of marijuana – Pineapple Express – is by only referring to previous strains that Dale had smoked. Now that legal marijuana and dispensaries exist, actual marijuana strains are more prevalent than ever, so we figured it’s time we start learning them all, one by one. Introduced in 2003 by Ken Estes, Granddaddy Purple is a famous indica cross between Purple Urkle and Big Bud. Like most heavy indica varieties, Granddaddy Purple is typically pulled off the shelf for consumers looking to combat pain, stress, insomnia, appetite loss, and muscle spasms.

Created back in 2003 by Ken Estes in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ken and his team sought out to create the ultimate Indica hybrid by merging two strains with fantastic genetics – Purple Urkle and Big Bud. The product of these two, Grand Daddy Purple, is a spitting image of it’s parents’ two best qualities – the deep and dark purple hue from Purple Urkle and the overgrown, dense buds of Big Bud. The dark purple buds blend well with the bright orange hairs and frosted white trichomes that generously cover the bud making it an extremely photogenic strain. From San Francisco down to Los Angeles, Grand Daddy Purple is one of the most sought after Indica strains due to it’s Hollywood looks and classic Indica effects. Despite this popularity many growers and those working in the dispensary world have claimed that Grand Daddy Purps is almost identical to another famous purple strain – Grape Ape.

Some even go so far as to speculate that these two strains may be in fact the same. COED’s Weed Strain of the Week is a recurring series.

Celebs are jumping on the marijuana brand wagon

Chong lends his name to Chong’s Choice, a marijuana brand that’s available in six states: Arizona, where medical marijuana is legal, along with California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Nevada, where recreational marijuana is legal, too. Celebrities with instant brand recognition like Chong have plenty of incentive for getting into this market. Sales totaled $8 billion last year, according to New Frontier Data, which estimates that US sales will grow to $23 billion by 2020. Canada is expected to legalize recreational marijuana this summer. Recreational marijuana is legal in nine states, as well as Washington, D.C.

Medical marijuana is legal in 30 states, but it’s still prohibited by the federal government. The estate of the late Bob Marley, including his widow Rita and his 11 children, are among the most prominent players in the marijuana industry. Their company, Marley Natural, includes branded marijuana, body care products and pipes. Marley Natural is backed by the Seattle-based investment firm Privateer Holdings, which has raised $200 million and is funding the Marleys’ expansion into Canada. The Marleys, Chongs and Snoops of the world are easy fits, but for the industry to grow beyond the realm of stoners, it needs other faces, says Troy Dayton, CEO of The Arcview Group, an investment and market research company for cannabis.

Both recently launched brands that promote marijuana as a health supplement. Kiss frontman Gene Simmons invested $10 million in the Canadian cannabis grower Invictus, even though he’s never smoked pot. Invictus went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange last month with a ticker bearing his name: GENE. Mike Tyson, the former boxer, recently broke ground on Tyson Ranch, a project to build a pot farm in California City, about 50 miles from Los Angeles.

Officer DeDonato checked with dispatch and no alarms were reported to the police department from the school. DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE. At approximately 10:57 p.m. on June 22, Officer Jacob Elderkin was on routine patrol working on a driving under the influence patrol. Based upon his performance during testing and the officers’ observations, it was determined that Ambrifi was unfit to operate a motor vehicle safely and he was taken into custody.

Officer Sara Goes was dispatched to the Haxton’s Toll Gate Liquors parking lot on Bald Hill Road on June 29 around 5 p.m. for a report of an operator possibly driving under the influence. At the scene she met with Sergeant Nelson who stated that a retired Warwick officer and a community service officer were doing a detail in the area. The driver took an extended period of time to pull over, leading the officer to believe that he may be attempting to conceal items in the vehicle. As Ramirez rolled down his window, the officer reported that he detected a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Officer Jaafar reported that he observed a bag of suspected marijuana sticking out from the center console. Additional officers were requested to report to the scene. A pay as you go phone was also found, which reportedly would not stop ringing, again leading the officer to believe it had to do with drug activity. STOLEN PHONE. On June 30 at approximately 5 p.m., Officer Ben Bratko and Ryan Lancaster were dispatched to the Post Road Walmart for a report of a larceny.

At the store they met with the reporting party, who told the officers that her mother’s cell phone had been taken when she left it on a table that displayed merchandise at the front of the store.

DISJOINTED Official Trailer (HD) Kathy Bates Netflix Marijuana Sitcom

Netflix Marijuana Strains Used to Market Comedy That’s All Smoke and No Fire

If you regularly keep up on weed news, you’ve probably heard a bit about the new Netflix marijuana strains that were available last weekend as part of a promotion for their original comedy series Disjointed. While it’s always a welcome opportunity when a show attempts to normalize the use of weed, Disjointed may not be the best example of this, sadly. If thousands of personalized Instagram photos of people excitedly or nervously standing in front of a haunted house can reach horror fans, it stands to reason that Netflix is considering stoners a target audience for their marijuana-centric show by offering limited edition official Netflix marijuana strains. Three strains tie directly into Disjointed while other Netflix marijuana strains reference additional original programming such as Arrested Development and Orange is the New Black. The strains were available at West Hollywood’s Alternative Health Herbal Services over the weekend and Netflix received no profit from their sale, meaning their stake in this was purely promotional.

The creative minds behind the marketing for Disjointed weren’t paralleled by the show’s writers. With this kind of lazy humor on a show set in a medical marijuana dispensary, you can probably guess how they handle stoner humor. It’s here that the idea to market official Netflix marijuana strains may have skipped a beat. The show is interrupted by fake commercials for marijuana products and bizarre segues that almost echo That ’70s Show. Not exactly the kind of jokes you’d hope for from a show about a marijuana dispensary in 2017.

I recognize that Disjointed is a comedy show but its premise tackles some volatile situations, and placing the show in a unique position to actually broadcast a certain reputation for medical marijuana. Shows like Broad City, Six Feet Under and even Legends of Tomorrow seem to do more by showing regular people smoking weed and functioning normally in the greater plot of things.

Legal marijuana: Fresno City Council passes ban on pot businesses

Retail marijuana dispensaries and other businesses related to recreational use of marijuana will be barred from setting up shop in Fresno after the City Council voted 4-3 Thursday to prohibit such establishments. Councilmen Bredefeld, Steve Brandau, Paul Caprioglio and Luis Chavez voted for the commercial prohibition, while Council President Clint Olivier and council members Esmeralda Soria and Oliver Baines voted no. The code amendment still must return to the City Council for a second reading and final approval, most likely at the council’s Sept. 21 meeting. Testing labs in industrial areas of the city would be allowed, provided that marijuana testing represents 20 percent or less of their business. Prior to Thursday’s vote on the ban, the council approved a proposal by Olivier to seek a consultant to help the city study issues related to marijuana and Proposition 64.

While the council approved the search for a consultant, a majority of the members also favored moving forward with a ban now. Caprioglio said the council has the freedom to modify its actions depending on what a consultant may recommend in the coming months. Public comments were cut short just before noon so the council could vote before several members had to leave for already-scheduled lunch meetings. Brand reminded the council and the audience that the ban only deals with recreational uses of marijuana. Existing city laws prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries – a subject of many of the comments from the public in recent weeks.

A Fresno ordinance to cap at six the number of plants that can be cultivated for personal use, and regulate where and how marijuana can be grown by residents, was initially approved in June but has yet to clear a final vote. The second reading of that ordinance, also backed by Bredefeld, has been beset by delays, including infighting among council members.

[BOT] OPINION: Marijuana-friendly campuses? I don’t think so aE&

The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee of Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia unanimously voted on March 5, 2018 to ban all smoking of marijuana products on campus – for health and safety reasons.

Brandon Bartelds smokes three joints at once while attending the 4-20 annual marijuana celebration, in Vancouver, B.C., on April 20, 2018.
